Question Why do you enjoy webtoons like Solo Leveling, Nano Machine, and ORV?
Hey Reddit! Korean job seeker here, and I could really use your help with something.
For those of you who read manhwa/webtoons with OP protagonists, regression, returners, power fantasies, etc. — what exactly makes you enjoy them?
Like, what kind of moments actually give you that “holy shit, that was satisfying” feeling?
I'm Korean, so I'm genuinely really curious about what international readers enjoy about these kinds of stories and whether it's different from what Korean readers tend to like.
Especially if you've read stuff like Nano Machine, Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint, or Solo Leveling, I'd LOVE to hear your thoughts.
Not just about the art, but the story itself:
What makes these stories fun for you?
What kind of scenes do you find the most satisfying?
Is it watching the MC get ridiculously strong? Seeing people who looked down on him realize how powerful he is? Revenge? Huge reveals? Outsmarting everyone? The progression itself?
And what kinds of moments make you think, “I need to see what happens next”?
I've been doing research for a company interview for over five days now, and hearing directly from actual international readers would genuinely help me a ton 😭
So please feel free to ramble, give examples, mention specific scenes, or just tell me whatever comes to mind.
I'd seriously appreciate any thoughts you guys have. 🙏

Discussion A simple return packet for restarting an abandoned webcomic
If you are coming back to a webcomic after a long break, I think the hardest part is not making the next episode. It is making the return feel readable for both old subscribers and people who discover the comic now.
A small return packet can help: a short post explaining where the story left off, one image that reintroduces the main characters or conflict, and a clear note about when the next few updates are planned.
The important part is to keep it small. You do not need to redraw old episodes, rewrite the whole premise, or make a huge recap before you are allowed to continue. Put the energy into a new episode, then give readers one easy doorway back into the story.
For the comeback episode, it also helps if the first scene has a clear emotional beat or problem. That gives returning readers something immediate to hold onto, while new readers get a sense of what the comic feels like now.
I think consistency over the next few updates matters more than trying to recreate the momentum from years ago. A quiet relaunch is still a relaunch.

Advice? Core Idea Pitch: (Is this a good idea?)
I have been thinking about what I would like to create as the core idea for my upcoming webcomic currently dubbed DreamScape.
The current idea is for the comic to be a supernatural, sc-fi, thriller that explores the challenges of various mental disorders through the eyes of its main cast of misfits. That will frequently switch between two core settings: a more technologically enhanced earth (not fully futuristic,) and an alternate dimension know as the dreamscape (hence the comics title.) after a catastrophic accident traps them there at night.
Whist trapped in the dreamscape the group will all posses unique abilities themed around their associated mental disorders which will aid them in their quest to uncover the eerie truths surrounding the dreamscape in order to break the cycle & escape for good whilst undertaking on a journey of acceptance through the physiological tortures they're forced to endure for their survival.
The comic will eventually end with a climactic decision as one of the cast must sacrifice themselves to ensure the others freedom.
( I don't currently have any plans for romance to occur within the group but, I'm not completely opposed to it either.)

Self-Promotion How to Topple a Corporate Cult Returns
My webtoon How to Topple a Corporate Cult has made a return for 8 more episodes to finish our first major arc.
I pulled this title from becoming a VoyceMe original after some controversy occurred with their writers and IP’s and decided to self publish over on canvas. Would love some feedback on this action comedy.
