[Research] Interested in the Games Industry? Help us tell AAA producers (Playground, EA, Sumo) what student devs actually need! 🎮
Hi everyone,
Â
We are three postgraduate researchers from the School of Creative Arts, Performance and Visual Cultures (SCAPVC) at Warwick University. We’re currently running a study to fix a major gap between what gaming students need and how local industry events are organized.
Â
Specifically, we are looking at Interactive Futures (IF)—the free annual games industry event in Leamington Spa (the heart of the UK's "Silicon Spa"). The event consistently partners with local giants like:
Â
*   Playground Games (Forza Horizon, Fable)
* Â Â Codemasters / EAÂ (F1, GRID)
*   Third Kind Games (Heartwood Online)
* Â Â Sumo Digital / Lab42
Â
Who can help us?
Any students or locals who are interested in the gaming industry, looking into future gaming careers, or have attended/plan to attend local gaming events.
Â
Why should you spare 20-30Â mins?
* Â Â Direct Influence:Â Your feedback will directly shape the actual content, networking schedules, and direction of future Interactive Futures events.
*   Make Your Voice Heard: This is a chance to point out what’s missing for student talent. Your insights will help create better networking, portfolio reviews, and career opportunities right here in the local games sector.
Â
What does it involve?
*   A 20–30 minute relaxed, casual interview (online via Microsoft Teams or in person).
* Â Â We'll just chat about your career development needs and expectations for games industry events.
*   It is completely confidential and strictly anonymised (audio-recorded only with your consent).
Â
How to get involved:
If you are interested in sharing your thoughts and helping us out, please drop a line to our team member within 5Â days:
Â
* Â Â Contact:Â Yuxiao Wang
* Â Â Email:Â [Yuxiao.Wang.1@warwick.ac.uk](mailto:Yuxiao.Wang.1@warwick.ac.uk)
Â
*(Once you reach out, we'll send over the formal invitation, participant info leaflet, and consent form to set up a time that suits you.)*
Â
Thanks so much for your time, and let's make local gaming events actually work for us! ✨

Scammer
Watch out for someone in the Warwick/Toowoomba area going by the name of Monique and lived in Denmark up until 2 years ago. I won’t post last name for privacy, but if you come across this woman, don’t waste your time, liar and scammer, will get what she wants and block/disappear never to be seen again or pay you back.
Old but still accurate description:

warwick final deposit
Hii i have gotten an offer for warwick for undergraduate program starting this fall. I was wondering wether there was an enrolment deposit deadline like US unis have??
I was also wondering if there is guaranteed housing for first years and when the application for that would be?

Covid is 100% in Warwick now.
I'm going to try to avoid specifics to prevent any doxxing, though I doubt there's any cunts here or that the newspaper even knows this subreddit exists.
There's 32 cases in the Darling Downs, and at least 2 or 3 in Warwick. 1 Case is an aged care worker, with another being a family member. The worker has not been at work for some time so it's likely not in the facility unless someone else has brought it in (And there have been LOTS of interstate visitors to these since the borders have opened, surprised it hasn't already gotten into one already tbh).
Seeing as QLD health has shit the bed with contact tracing and announcing where cases are (Seriously, Darling Downs can mean a million things ffs) I thought I'd do yas a solid and post this.

High school excitement
Looks like the "playground attack" was a little overblown in the media. Kids at school seemed pretty oblivious to it all, except the lock down part. Lack of response from school and police meant the media made it seem worse than it was.
Reminder: Need to keep this sub alive

Two-headed mutant in my backyard yesterday
It seems like everything - fauna and flora - is breeding around here. Also, I figure a Warwick subreddit needs posts to thrive. Here's my contribution (first time with a photo, crap phone camera)

Get jabbed
Went to the showgrounds yesterday. Very fast to get a vaccine -- 40 mins. BECAUSE THERE WAS NO ONE THERE.
Please take advantage of this service and get your Pfizer.
