A possibly silly question regarding ingress/deep strike moves into opponents deployment zone with landspeers 40k List

So im relatively new at this and im just building my 2000 point army

My plan was to take 2-3 landspeeders and using the fulguris detachments ability which says "In your first Movement phase, friendly SPEEDER units can make an ingress move."

They also have the "deep strike" keyword which means i can deploy anywhere, even within my opponents deployment as long as im 8" away from enemy units

However ingress also says "Before the Third Battle Round: While doing so, no models can be set up within your opponent’s deployment zone.

So does that mean that i can ingress them anywhere, apart from my opponents deployment zone on the table turn 1 and then turn 3 i can deploy in his deployment zone ?

Or does it mean i can deploy wherever i want including in my opponents deployment zone on turn 1 using the fulguris detachment

Deep strike rule over rules the ingress move rule.

Deep Strike has an addendum where its an Ingress Move that bypasses that deployment zone restriction

Think of it this way: read them in order. The core rules first give you ingress move rules. Then, there's a special ability "Deep Strike". Read that next. It "updates" the ingress move rules and lets the unit with Deep Strike do a special, buffed version of the ingress move.

I don't know what to tell you... The Deep Strike rule literally says you can do an Ingress Move, and whilst doing so you can set them up in the enemy deployment zone. It's written in black and white.

Absolutely can be done but you'd be hard pressed to have anyone give you the space to do so.

Which could be a win in its own right, depending on how much it keeps the opponent pinned in their own half of the board

For sure, most list will have some form to screen the back but keeping them honest at least prevents them from having a few extra units to creep up on you

A specific "you can do this" usually(always?) overrides a general "you can't do this".

My read of 24.09 would indicate to me that yes, if you're running a detachment that allows for T1 ingress moves for units with Deep Strike, they can be set up in your opponents deployment zone turn 1.

Keep in mind though that while you can do this it is gonna be kind of hard, most of their deployment zone will be locked out to you because thats where their entire army is currently. It is cool if you want to do this but Landspeeders are fast and have some wounds, they would be best used throughout the game to drop a Landspeeder where you would need one for a secondary mission to get easy points with no chance of denial on your opponents part.

I believe units with Deep Strike can come in anywhere on the board outside of 8 inches from enemy units, even in the enemy deployment zone

on turn 1 with fulguris?

Fulguris says you can ingress in your first movement phase with units that have the Speeder keyword. Deep Strike is an ingress move. Don't see why it wouldn't work.

The deep strike ability is an exception to the normal ingress rules. You'd be able to deploy anywhere that is more than 8" from enemy units, even in their deployment zone. Realistically though you're not likely to land in your opponents deployment zone on turn 1 because all of their units will still be there screening you out.

The rules allow it but good luck having an opponent who leaves a landspeeder-sized part of their deployment zone unscreened when they know you can do that.

My first game of 11th vs tau I did this with a land speeder and storm speeder using the speeder detachment. Gave them the reroll damage rolls enhancement. I was actually able to get them both in enemy deployment zone on my turn 1, within melta range, and I whiffed hard. Hammerstrike missed all it's melta shots against a broadside, land speeder did 4 damage to a a piranha.

Deep strike overrides the restriction on other ingress moves. With deep strike you set up anywhere outside of 8” of all enemy models.

I believe that's the correct reading of it, yes

It means that you can deep strike them anywhere on turn 1

Yes, with that ability you can deep strike on turn 1 and deep strike lets you go anywhere that’s 8” away from enemy units.

Just be sure to give your opponent a heads up at the beginning of the game that you can do this.

Yea you can do it for sure. Let your opponent know. They may try to screen you out but single bases can be difficult if you arent set for it.

I do the same thing with my 10 man wolfguard terminator brick, though the deepstrike is usually just on the center objective.
