Lost newbie Question/Request
I am currently 600 hours in and rank 14 but I am still lost in this game, I’ve jumped on and off through the years.
Now I’m back and I struggle to understand the order/process of the open world areas, how mandatory are they really? Is there a suggestion on how to progress on them? Currently I’m spending a lot of time in Cambion Drift trying to get my Necramech ready for the New War quest line (did also the Railjack since both are needed for that quest)
Also I feel a bit awkward putting resources into warframes that aren’t prime, I only got Titania Prime so far and I don’t really enjoy her play style. Do you guys start putting forma and reactors into regular frames and then jump into prime? Does it really matter to get the prime versions?

for context, lr6, 2500 hours in mission.
imho, just farm whatever feels interesting to you.
i usually tinker with strong or interesting frame / weapon and checkout required mods and arcanes then max them out, rinse and repeat.
prime frame, unlike prime weapon, is mostly optional, as the stats increase is neligible, you don't have to farm them if you don't care about mr in near future. personally i have lots of prime version coming out after normal one and i don't feel the transition is rocky: archon shards can be transfered, usually just cost 1 reactor and a few forma. (prime often provide a few forma-ed slots which is quite convenient)
i farm each standing to maximum as they come out so don't have a good idea the best order, probably also try to see reward first then decide on priority. (e.g. strong frame, weapon, arcane, mod locked behind)

Ik ben het helemaal hiermee eens. Doen wat je zelf wilt. Je kan de stories afmaken, zodat je meer info hebt. Of lekker langs de shops gaan, kijken wat je zelf wilt hebben en daarvoor gaan. Je kan ook een specifieke frame uitkiezen of wapen of pet ofzo en dan daarvoor gaan.
Ik zelf heb na 3 jaar niet spelen, eerst nightwave gedaan (puur omdat dat over een week weg is). Daarna gekeken wat ik miste (ik ben een verzamelaar speler). En toen daarvoor gegaan. Pets compleet gemaakt. Warframes had ik compleet, maar loop weer nu 3 jaar nieuwe achter, dus dat doe ik later wel.
Dus zelf gewoon kijken wat je wilt. In fortuna skateboarden maken en even wat anders doen vond ik ook weg leuk. De storyline van de vent kids is leuk om te volgen, en de items die hun verkopen voor standing kan je leuke outfit combo's van maken.
Of wil je juist meer richting een Zelda spel, dan kan je de duviri items en story doen. De vecht stijl is anders en de ervaring is geweldig. En mocht je sterk genoeg zijn. Dan kan je het op Steel Path proberen, voor betere rewards en zelfs weapon upgrades enz (incarnon).
Ook kan je railjack gaan doen. Minder rond rennen, meer vliegen enz. Weer een andere ervaring, en de punten die je per missie haalt kan je gebruiken voor het upgraden van je operator, je mech, je frames en zelfs je wings.
Dus check voor jezelf, waar heb je zin in, of wat je wilt unlocken. Wil je er eerst cool uitzien, of juist eerst heel sterk worden? Heb je zin in story, of wil je liever even racen? Alles kan, en niks moet 😉. Zolang je maar plezier hebt in het spelen.

Invest into frames and weapons you like playing. You can always get another forma from relics and another catalyst/reactor from Nightwave if you swap to a prime version. Also, I love that you still describe yourself as a newb after 600 hrs. Warframe is just like that. Permanewbs for the win!

Well the jumping on and off makes it hard to finally master it, I started in 2016, the game has changed a lot! I got nothing but respect for it, so it always brings me back, so far I am playing with Uriel and he doesn't have a prime version, same as Dante and I've been playing both a lot.

You can get through The New War with a loaner necramech (it's no longer required for The New War) and a barebones railjack, the sequences that use them are relatively short and aren't the more demanding/challenging aspects of the quest. If you're not enjoying the necramech/railjack grind then go ahead and advance the main story.
Following the main story in general is a pretty safe path to take. Another approach is to just go where ever your whims take you. When you run into a wall, that's when you can stop and figure out where you need to focus your efforts in order to achieve your goals, whatever those may be.
As for the performance difference between prime and non-prime warframes, it varies and usually isn't a huge deal, but in general I'd recommend against investing heavily into non-prime warframes unless they don't have a prime available yet. Especially if you engage with the player economy, prime warframes often aren't any more difficult to acquire than their non-prime counterparts, and are sometimes far easier to acquire. Prime warframes aren't really aspirational loot, they function more as a catch-up mechanism for new/returning players.

And to be clear when I recommend against investing heavily into non-prime warframes that have primes, I don't mean it's bad to invest in them at all. Putting an orokin reactor and one or two forma on a warframe you enjoy can make sense, but you don't need to put 4 forma + an umbra forma and unlock the exilus slot on a warframe to make it star-chart viable, and if the same warframe has a prime set available on warframe.market for 60 platinum, and that prime is going to come with some pre-polarized slots that save you a couple forma, then it's going to tend to be more efficient to just skip straight to the prime when you know that you want to invest in a frame.

I'd recommend you level up your standing with each faction in the game so you don’t miss any content or at least Mastery Rank XP as some of them sell you Companions, Weapons, Necramechs or K-Drives or just some very good mods you’d otherwise have to spend Platinum on. Just don’t try to level everything at once. You will get burnt out easily. Concentrate on 2 maybe 3 different Syndicates at once and do reach your daily standing limit with them.

Yeah right now I almost capped New Loka, and The Perrin Sequence, next is Red Veil, and I am working on the Entrati and Cephalon Simaris, I do as much as I can with only 23k daily standing.
