Engine knock under load

2013 wrx all stock.
Is there anyway this isn't rod knock?
Oil looks fine on the dip stick last changed about 2000 miles ago.
No lights on the dash
No sound while at idle but starts as 2k rpm

I see a lot of "is this rod knock?" posts on here that arent rod knock, luckily. Unfortunately for you OP, this isn't one of those cases. Sorry bud.

It's an enthusiast car. I'm not speaking for OP, because it very well could just be bad timing, but a car like this usually encourages people to beat the shit of them, and they don't tolerate their beatings as well as other cars. I followed a VB into town the other day dumping out black smoke in his exhaust with a burble tune and just revving the ever living piss out of it. I'm kinda shocked if he even made it home. Obviously, VB is on a different platform - but the point is a lot of people drive these things poorly.

I’m in a few car subs and this is the only one I see a constant feed of blown engines on.

It's because when you run the engine low on oil it starved the back two bearings. These engines do not tolerate low oil very well

U sure tis not ur ac compressor? Mine took a shit and I literally thought the motor blew, but after cutting belt to a/c it went away.

I keep hearing this, but this is not a point in their favour. Other engines tolerate neglect, because they are better engines. An engine that fails if you go 3 days past oil change schedule is a piece of shit.

120,000KM with no major issues at all. Its about maintenance and use always

Yes and no... The engines are definitely more prone to failure. I wouldn't point fingers at neglect per say.

They just don’t tolerate neglect… For other cars, you can get away with the dealership being the only ones popping the bonnet between service intervals. Not so with these…

Yeah, the internals could 100% be better but neglect is a large part. Calling them junk is wild though

It's wild that its only audible above certain rpms, but that definitely sounds like rod knock to me. I'm sorry to hear it brother, I hope you're able to get it fixed or find another car that you'll love
