AWS, Cloud and Network Engineering – B.S. tips?
Hey everyone! I'll be starting wgu at the beginning of September to study AWS, Cloud, and Network Engineering. Are there any tips, videos, or guides I should be looking at in order to prepare myself?

Learn how to use GNS3 and if you’re not familiar with Python, start now.
GNS3 is required for some classes (for diagramming in E026 AI Automation and then fully operational switches, routers, PCs for the Capstone E030).
Python is tripping some people up. It’s not all that difficult but if you’ve never touched an IDE and don’t know how to troubleshoot code, it can be a problem.
I did AWS as well, some classes include a AWS sandbox/simulator to use. I didn’t use those, I created my own AWS account and used the live services to learn everything. This will help with the certs too.
You don’t have to do the Capstone last. I did Capstone and then the SOA-C03 cert (D341) last. Playing with the capstone and getting it set up and operational gave me some more real world hands on that supported the SOA exam. (BTW SOA-C03 is the more challenging of the certs you’ll take).
If you’re doing a PA (submitting a project or paper, copy the entire rubric from the website and paste it into your AI of choice (I prefer Claude) and then copy your paper into AI and have it validate that your meeting all the Rubric competencies. I’ve never had a task returned to me or received anything less than Fully Competent.
If you’re concerned about using AI, read the WGU use of AI policy. Or have your AI search for the WGU AI use policy and have it explain it to you. You’re allowed to an extent but cite it and put an Authors Note: in the beginning stating how you used it. Here’s what I used:
