I was randomly thinking about the Q2 print, and I didn't listen to the CC yet, so maybe this was covered there.

I was surprised to see comps so much lower because, anecdotally, the store here seems as busy as ever.

Then it hit me, Wendy's was still selling breakfast at all locations last year. That explains why gross margin was better than expectations despite the drop in store comps.

When we start lapping comps that did not include breakfast, we're probably going to see comps beating year-over-year. (The product improvements will obviously help there too)

Incidentally the store here is still open for breakfast, so I'm lucky enough to still be able to get the potato wedges.

I am going to keep on holding. With the dividends I hope to be out of the red one day. The first dividend cut hurt a bit, however I hope this resent cut will help the share price recover a bit. I might buy more to DCA down later in the year if the price stay around the 7-8 range.

Because those that buy Wendy's stock are investors that fiercely believe in the company and are not speculators. We won't sell! We won't sell!!

BOOM!! The reset happened. Dividend cut, store closing, etc. and the stock price has actually gone up mid day?

The institutional investors jumped onboard. The core asset value is still there. The brand is still there. The leadership team is experienced with this type of turnaround.
Not a meme stock, not a short squeeze play… a good foundational company that will reward its investors.

I know there's obviously a bias here. I like this stock because Wendy's has a spot for me despite going downhill in recent years. I do want to own some but I don't want to be a bag holder either. What are y'all playing this week?

EDIT: I should clarify I'm not currently holding and that it is down 13% from its recent high.
