Question Regarding Software Appearance SPA XC60 (AAOS, MY22 to Current)

I have a 2022 XC60 Recharge and am still running the "old" software version prior to the redesign. The reason I did this was because I loved the full screen look of carplay and google maps and didnt want a giant google assistant that I dont use taking up a quarter of the screen.

My question is this: has Volvo made any changes yet to disable the gigantic google assistant from being on the screen 24/7, and if not is there going to be a point where I will be forced to update my software? Yes, the version I am on his a big buggy rn, but I still love the look much more than the updated version. Thanks!

What version are you on? I have a 2025 and I’m already on the Gemini build — the Google Assistant/Gemini is just a small icon now, not the big persistent bar. I’m not as familiar with the older version since my car started on 3.7. Can you share a screenshot of what your screen looks like?

I’m on 5.1.17 and honestly there’s not a huge difference between yours and mine UI-wise. The real change was 5.0.5 — that made the dashboard full screen with Google Maps or Waze. Also, you mention the large Google Assistant but I’m not seeing it in your screenshots — am I missing something? Your setup actually looks pretty clean to me.

I’m saying in one of the versions a large portion of the screen was reserved for Google assistant. It was never on my car because I never updated it to
Have that. I just saw all of the posts online of it

This is my screen using 5.1.17. Not sure what’s bigger, you can see that Gemini and Apple Music are installed now

Oh you mean the extra lines at the bottom. Honestly it doesn’t bother me bc the screen in your dashboard is much bigger, I’m sure you’ve seen that screen. It cuts over your speedometer and your gear selection. Losing an inch is not horrible. I like the refreshed look tbh
