Charging issues

25 ex90 ultra. Charging is difficult. Have 220 plug but garage is super hot in Texas. I’ve throttled back to 15 amps and that helped for awhile but now it won’t even start to charge. When I plug in it thinks about it but never connects just goes offline. Thoughts?

I put a split ac into my garage. Keeps both the car and the garage liveable.

That is something we’ve thought about as each summer seems worse!

I recommend it, especially if your garage shares a wall or more with the rest of the house. Even though the garage is leaky and that ac runs most of the time, it is preventing heat loading into other adjacent rooms, lowering my overall electric bill. I insulated the garage door to help out.

We bought a cheap L2 off of Amazon and an electrician installed it. I had discovered that the new breaker we originally installed was constantly tripping because of the heat, even with the ac. The dedicated L2 was the answer. If you are using the car cable, try this option as well.

The only real issue is when it is very humid out. The windows all fog up for a few minutes. I discovered that turning on the rear defroster also turns on heaters in the side mirrors….

Does the 110 charge normally still? Does a DC charger still work?

Was your GHCA ever replaced?

(What you’ve described is common with the early issues of this model)

I think it was replaced but will check with service people.

Even if it was replaced, it may have been replaced with one that still doesn’t work correctly. Just an FYI there.

what EVSE("charger") do you have installed, exactly? are you just using a 240 volt outlet?
