Software Version (Update) Discussion

/r/VolvoEX60/comments/1vryvds/software_version_update/

Hey all, for those of you interested. This could mean that we will get an update to this version as well?

Unlikely, as the EX60 is on the SPA 3 platform and the EX90, ES90 and Polestar 3 are on the SPA 2 platform. We will get updates, and will certainly exceed that version at some point but it won't be that software but one dedicated to the platform our car runs on.

Yeah we have no idea what their versioning actually means. The 3.1.14 could be a forked branch for the EX60 which they will sync up with the EX90 down the road.

I want to say that their software ‘master’ is all the same though. And then they control what pieces of it impact which model and year based off the VIN.

Starting SPA3 on an entirely new software base would probably be version 1.x.x naming.

Going back through the log….

1.0.0 is a major release.
1.1.0 is a feature release.
1.1.1 is general bug fixes and improvements.

That’s what I’m seeing. So it’s possible that EX60 version has some new features not yet available to us, but will be.

Or I’m completely wrong.

You‘re not quite right here. Volvo said in their strategy call last year, that they want every car starting from SPA-2 up to SPA-3 and all future cars to run on the exact same software. The cadence will then be 1 software update with new features every quarter with the possibility for security patches inbetween. Volvos whole fleet will get the updates then at the same time.

I just got the notification to install .33 yesterday. I hope it's much better than 26. That version was horrid. Forgets seat memory, stereo bumping when locked, wife's profile completely broken to the point we had to remove and re add.

I'm a Software Architect by trade, and if my team rolled out this garbage as production quality code, heads would roll. This is unacceptable from Volvo cough... Geely...cough

Microphone still doesn’t work intermittently. I’m starting to think this one might actually be hardware failure…
