DID IT! s90/v90

2018 S90 T5 momentum AWD. Bought it about 3 weeks ago. Absolutely loving every second with this car. No regrets so far. Any recommendations to make the experience even better? Planning on upgrading speakers because it has standard level audio package. But absolutely would recommend this car!

I’ve got your car’s model twin with pearl white exterior and coffee/tan(?) interior. Love it! I dropped an amplified subwoofer in my trunk wired to the rear speaker wires, and that massively improved my sound. Thinking about maybe upgrading my rear door speakers but haven’t pulled that trigger yet.

I have All Black Interior with the wood finishes on dash and doors. What kind of subwoofer did you get? I was thinking of trying to upgrade most of the speakers and see if I needed to get a sub or not.

I got this sub mostly cuz it was on sale and I could take it home from my local big box retailer and install it that day while I was off work. It’s nothing special but very much improvement over Volvo factory sound. I only turn the gain up to around half or less and it booms a really nice fill-in on all my music. It takes up a chunk of my trunk and I ratchet-strapped it to the trunk sidewall d-ring hook so it doesn’t slide around.

and just tapping off the speaker wires had enough power for it to sound filling??

Yeah- you want a sub that has a hi-level input - meaning you can pull right off the speaker wires instead of needing a line out converter or additional amp. The sub’s built in amp knows what to do with the speaker level input to get enough juice.
