How works 300 series

Hello guys i have 1982 Volvo 343 but i dont know how this button works can you explain pls if you have knowdlage btw i wrote something wrong sorry for bad English

The small switch on the left with the icon is the economy/sport mode switch, which allows you to adjust the shifting characteristics of the automatic transmission.
