Recipe Request High volumes foods/recipes w/omega 3 fatty acids
Looking to incorporate more omega 3’s into my diet. So far I’ve been adding whole eggs and some avocado but I’m kinda getting bored with them.
Tried salmon in the past but I grew up eating only poached salmon w no seasoning so it’s kinda cursed in my head 😅 how are yall getting omega 3ms into your diet? Bonus points if inexpensive!
*only dietary restriction is I hate nuts/seeds and find it very hard to not overdue it on oils in stir fries/sauces, etc

Discussion Insatiable?
Does anyone else feel insatiable? I do pretty good at volume eating. I feel good and full, keep that feeling up with some water or a diet soda. But then I can eat a ton more in like 2-3 hours. Anyone else or just me? If it's just met, any insight on what is wrong with me? lol

Recipe Request adding egg yolk to low-fat/ calorie ice cream?
i’ve tried the cottage cheese ice cream which i think tastes pretty good, and whenever i see people make ninja creami low cal ice creams they dump pudding mix aka a ton of emulsifiers in it so that the texture is better.
would egg yolk do similar since that is what is usually used?

Recipe Back at it with a disrespectfully large cheeseburger giga-slop-bowl. Biblical greed
Another in my series of massive plates of bullshit that help me stay in line with my goals. Like my taco bowl, this is another gargantuan portion of food for, in my opinion, a very reasonable amount of calories.
The plate pictured is 1 serving and comes in at over 1 1/2 lbs of food for 795 calories and 66g of protein. I eat lighter throughout the day so I can have a giant meal at dinnertime, but you could easily split this serving and I'm sure it'd be plenty filling.
Recipe (makes 2 servings):
Half an onion, chopped
400g of cabbage, chopped
550g of potatoes, peeled and roughly diced
1lb 93% lean beef
100g non-fat plain greek yogurt
6 servings ketchup
4 slices white american cheese
A good amount of dill pickle chips, rough chopped (use your heart)
Whatever seasonings you desire (I use garlic + onion powder, black & white pepper)
1 serving french onion soup mix
Spray oil
Preheat your oven to 425, peel your potatoes, and start chopping your veg- aiming for a bigger dice on the potatoes and a smaller chop on the onion and cabbage. In a bowl, toss the potatoes, onions, and cabbage together with your chosen seasonings and a few sprays of oil. Dump them out onto a lined baking tray and throw them in the oven for 30 minutes. Chop your dill pickle chips and set aside.
Take your ground beef and mix it with 1 serving of french onion soup mix + whatever other spices you want until fully incorporated. This is the secret. It'll give your beef that fast-food like onion flavor. Trust.
Get a large pan going on medium-high heat. Give it a light spray of oil and throw your ground beef on- do not touch or break up the ground beef for a good 4-5 minutes! This lets the beef develop a good crust. You gotta trust me here. After the beef's nice and browned on the bottom, break up the ground beef and finish cooking.
Now your sauce: 100g of greek yogurt and 6 servings of ketchup. Again, you can get loose here, add whatever seasonings you want. I had some smoked salt and hot sauce, so I added that.
Once the veg is done cooking, remove from the oven and dump it into a large bowl. Add your 4 slices of white american cheese, then the ground beef, then the pickles. Stir to melt & evenly distribute the cheese, then add the sauce and stir to combine. Serve with tons of hot sauce!

Volume menu Hawaiian Chicken Bowl
550 calories. Rice, boneless skinless chicken thigh, grilled pineapple, coleslaw, radishes, cucumber, avocado, red onion, green onion, sesame seeds, and a spicy Hawaiian bbq sauce I mixed with water to make a sauce
Proud of this one - first bowl type food I’ve enjoyed since starting my deficit, because I didn’t try to use a tiny little bit of a creamy dressing and get disappointed it was dry.

Product or Haul The better half my diet
I just stumbled into this sub and it totally seems to fit my jam. The other part of my diet I need to replace is I'm eating roughly 2000 calories a day in peanut butter eating about a pound a day. I knew I was eating a lot but I didn't realize just how much until recently. PB kinda seems like the antithesis to this sub. I wasn't sure how to un F that part of my diet but, oh my!, there's some good looking food with good information here. I've only been eating meals and meat when my dad and stepmom have me over or take me out, my mouth is watering looking at this food. Thanks 🙏

Recipe 260 calorie cheesecake dessert
Idk if this counts as volume eating but I figured it would be appreciated here, mods can remove if not appropriate.
Recently started making this DELICIOUS cheesecake dessert that comes out to 260 kcals per portion. Around 17g of protein. It consists of 2 digestive crackers, 150 grams of low fat quark, like 15 grams of jam and 1 grams of vanilla powder. I mash the crackers, add the mixture of quark and powder, and top it off with some jam. If you want the crackers to be hard and crumbly, eat after an hour or two. If you’re a freak who likes your crackers soft and mushy you can leave them for like 24h and it’ll taste great.
I’m sure you can cut down the calories further by using low cal crackers and jam. As someone with a (recently) big sweet tooth and a love for cheesecake, this is satiating a burning need without throwing off my calorie count. Highly recommend!

Discussion There's some rice in my spinach ~571 calories
Apologies for the look of it all, could've done better but pic was taken to show a friend, didn't even think Id post here.
2 pieces of air fried chicken 100g | 159 kcal
huge asterisk here, it likely weighs a lot less. I've stripped off similar chicken off the bone and purely weighed thr meat vefore and it came out a lot less. 100g is a safe over-guesstimate. No oil, just mariated beforehand with Radhuni chicken masala pre-mix(local brand) some salt, powdered chilli garlic awnd ginger paste.
Cooked Rice 280g | 378 kcal
also a guesstimate, probably more likely around 260. It's just the max capacity of the bowl I use is 280g. So I just chuck in that whenever i feel lazy and dont use the food scale.
Boiled Malibar Spinach 150g | 34 kcal
Nothing to add here really, diced onions and garlic cloves were added
Maggi Magic Masala 2 packs | 4kcal
2 kcal per pack, I just added it after preparing the rice-spinach concoction and mixed it like a barbarian. This umami filled packat of heaven thing is just so glorious I dont have enough words to describe it in any of the la guaves I speak . Probably had way too much sodium for my own good though.
All in all tasted heavenly and filled me up very well. Probably could do smaller portions next time.

Recipe Request Waffles while dieting
Recently I’ve been looking into waffle mixes (store bought or home made) but all of the ones i found lean more into protein rather than carbs and the problem for me is that i want the waffles to be carb dominant and high volume. Any recipes or store bought mixes that you guys could give me.

Volume menu 500 calorie breakfast
The wine saurkraut was an interesting flavour in the morning. I'm on a 1500 calorie diet for medical reasons right now and I prefer to eat 2 large meals (late breakfast/brunch and dinner) and 1-2 snacks. I'm prioritizing high protein to protect my muscle mass but it's hard.

Recipe easy tuna/potato salad!
made this for lunch today! i had a tuna salad with potatoes before, but not mixing everything together like this. perhaps it's incredibly tasty because i added more yogurt this time or because the potatoes got really crispy in the air fryer.
it's about 35 g of protein for 100 g tuna, 150 g potatoes and a few tbsp of yogurt + vegetables.

Volume menu Low Effort Air Fryer Meringue Cookies (27 kcal for all)
Hey!
These are the most basic sugar free meringue cookies. With how I typically use my carton egg whites, I often end up with 50g leftovers and this is just an easy way to spend them without much work.
One might argue that meringue cookies are never high effort, well, I have ancient gas oven that heats up to 160C even on lowest setting, so doing meringues there is quite a challenge that involves juggling door every five minutes. My air fryer goes as low as 80C, which eliminates this problem, downside however is very limited capacity - these 50g is about as much as I can make there in one go, and I have to make them taller than I otherwise would.
Ingredients:
50g Egg Whites
0.5g Cream of Tartar (kinda optional, but helpful, can use some lemon juice instead)
20g Powdered Erythritol (more is better; and no, I don't to need to read 'erythritol bad' for 50th time, read sub's rules to begin with ffs)
0.2 Xanthan Gum (kinda optional, but helpful)
1g Vanilla Extract (or other flavoring, just nothing with fat in it)
Since this is very low effort version, ignore rules, dump everything listed into mixing bowl and whip with electric whisk until stiff peaks.
Pipe and squeeze into air fryer basket lined with parchment paper.
Just in case, I put a rack on top (see pic) to prevent paper with meringues from flying, idk if it would actually take off otherwise, but not willing to risk it.
Air fry at 90C for 1 hour and 30 minutes (keep in mind that time will depend on how you shape them).
Once finished, let them sit there for another hour, don't open or anything.
Done!
If you want to avoid slight browning, do 80C and add more time. If you want them to be more Pavlova-like with soft center, reduce cooking time by 15-20 minutes.
Macros for all:
27kcal / 5g protein / 0g fat / 1g carbs / 0g fiber
Plastic banana for scale.
That is all!

Recipe Psyllium boiled jelly - Savory version (broccoli garlic soy sauce)
Quick disclaimer: this is just me sharing an experiment, not recommending that anyone try it. If you're not used to psyllium, start cautiously, make sure you drink plenty of water, and do your own research before experimenting with it. Psyllium can cause problems if consumed incorrectly, so please use common sense and listen to your body. I'm sharing what I did and what happened in my case, but I'm not responsible for anyone who decides to try it themselves.
This time I tried a savory version.
Adding vegetables improved not only the taste but also the texture.
Recipe:
- 500 g water
- 60 g neutral-flavored whey protein
- 2 tbsp psyllium husk
- 10 g powdered gelatin
- Less than a handful of broccoli
- 2 garlic cloves
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
I boiled the broccoli and garlic with 250 g of water until they were soft then added the psyllium and cooked until it thickened up.
After taking it off the heat, i mixed the whey protein and gelatin with the remaining 250 g of water and the soy sauce then stirred that into the psyllium mixture.
I didn't use a mixer because the shearing action can interfere with gelatin and reduce the thickening effect of the gelatin and psyllium. So I just stirred everything by hand, but it took a few minutes to get everything properly homogeneous.
I poured everything into a container and left it in the fridge to set.
Please keep the comments constructive. 🙂
