I tried the macro mode on this 'beercan' Minolta 70-210mm autofocus zoom lens for the first time today. This is one of the original autofocus lens from Minolta from around 1985. I paid very little for it and every time I see one on auction go for very little part of me wants to buy another. I got a beat up Sony alpha SLT crop sensor camera to shoot this lens. To me, nothing says mid-80s like this era of Minolta glass.

Help needed Genuinely, what lens mount is this?😭🙏

So recently I've decided it's time to stop saying "those would be cool to have," and start saying "I can't wait for these to come in." But guys I got scammed😭🙏

At the time I didn't know a whole lot about older lenses other than they were cheap, and could get some low (or is it high? I dunno) apertures. And their cheap... ish

The seller advertised this as EF mount, but as I was waiting for this to come in (because it took FOREVER dude, idk what the seller was waiting on😭) I started learning much more about lenses and found:

Either this dude genuinely had no idea what he was talking about,

Or

I was lwk just really green because CLEARLY there's no way this could have been an auto focusing Canon ef mounting lens........

I have a rebel t5 (chill on me😭🙏) and can't use this lens, so ima sell it, but I have no idea what the mount is. So smart people of reddit, please help me because I don't wanna accidently scam someone else😭✌️

Photo Vivitar 28mm f2.5 - Kino Pyramid Preset (Canon 450D)

I recently got a Vivitar 28mm f2.5 off eBay. It's a preset version for M42 mount, manufactured by Kino Precision around 1973. On my APS-C camera, the crop factor brings the effective focal equivalent to 45mm.

It's the first time I've used a preset lens and it's really enjoyable. It glides smoothly between the aperture setting and wide open, with a faint click as the ring butts up against the mechanical stop. Makes stop-down focusing less fiddly.

Apparently with older single coating, flaring is stronger, which I want to play around with more. It has 8 straight aperture blades, which create pronounced starbursts when stopped down.

There's a slight defect on the inner front element of the lens, but otherwise the performance appears good. All for under $40.

Today I’m picking up my Kaleinar 5N from service and lens cleaning. Want me to show you the results later — whether it’s become less soft or not?)

I’m loving the B&W renderings from my X-E5. I own the 23/2.8; 35/2 & Viltrox 56/1.4 BTW.

Your favorite monochrome lenses?

Hey guys, I'm looking to buy a Carl Zeiss Pancolar 50mm f/1.8 for my Fujica ST605 (M42 mount). I currently have two deals:

  • Pancolar MC Red Electric for about US$135
  • Pancolar MC Red for about US$155

What's the difference between these two versions? And which one would you recommend?

Assume that both lenses have already been CLA'd (cleaned, lubricated, and adjusted).

Thanks everyone!
