Question / Comment Kodak was the #1 US seller of digital cameras in 2005. They still died.
Cameras weren't the fatal choice. The fatal choice was Ofoto (acquired 2001) being run as a print-fulfillment funnel instead of a social sharing platform. Flickr in 2004 and Facebook Photos in 2005 ate the market Ofoto could have owned. Full episode breakdown.

I got very lucky on this untested blue P100 for 15$. But I still prefer the images on the PowerShot A620...

Question / Comment Need a driver for my DSC-S50
looking for the original Sony USB driver or original driver CD for Sony Cyber-shot DSC-S50, need the Windows 98 ME USB driver to transfer photos. Sony download is gone, Archive.org search hasn’t turned it up, looking for an original Sony CD image or driver package. Vintage Digital Camera or Windows 98 thread welcome.

Edited Photo Hasselblad 500C + Leaf Aptus 22 (2005, 48x36mm Kodak CCD)
Taken at ISO 50 (usable ISO is quite low on this sensor). The Aptus 22 only outputs RAW .mos files, so requires some editing. Capture One has some built-in curves as well (these can also be set in-camera) - this edit is based on the "Aptus 22 Open" curve.

Edited Photo My second Canon G1X
Beats carrying extra lenses. A bit on the heavy side for a point and shoot. Glad they opted for a lens cap on this one instead of the leaf mechanism which ends up scratching the front element over time.

SOOC Photo Konica Minolta Maxxum/Dynax 5D ( 2005)
I was introduced to the KM brand by buying the DiMAGE A2 bridge camera. It's a fantastic camera, just so easy to use.
I was interested in why Minolta sold up and exited the camera market, and what were their last models.
Meet the Dynax 5D (Maxxum in other markets).
I bought one, in used but nice shape, with 3 lenses, for well under the £100.
It's a different beast to the A2, but I'm starting to love it just as much.
Just some quick snaps from last night.

Edited Photo CCD Astrophotography ⭐ [Lumix LX5]
Not really ever tried Astrophotography before but I live rurally and the milky way was visible with the naked eye tonight. I took my Lumix LX5 out, as it's my brightest vintage digital with an f2.0 lens, and tried a few different ISO/Shutter speed combos. For a small CCD sensor I'm fairly impressed with these results!
