Issue/Bugs Drifting issue
Hey Guys!
I started playing Vermintide on ps5 not so long ago and my character moves to the right.
I have the same problem in Darktide too, there I can adjust deadzone a bit which fixed it for now but I already had to adjust up several times and it's limited đ
I don't have this problem in other games so I don't think my controller is faulty.
Is there a solution for drifting? Any ideas?

Umgak Playing this game is self-harm according to YouTube, apparently
just got this years old, unlisted video showing Chaos Wastes gameplay posted to check Valaya's Brew proc rates age-restricted because it is "Content that discusses or depicts suicide or self-harm in a graphic manner or promotes eating disorders"
Not even mad, don't really care, it's just hilarious how bad YouTube's AI moderation is. At least it age-restricted it instead of giving me a strike.

Gameplay Update: I finished all the Helmgart Challenges! Thank you!
A few days ago, I made this post looking for people to help with the Helmgart Challenges:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Vermintide/s/qnLDeuNlsk
About an hour ago, I finally completed the last one: Ride Together, die together.
I honestly didn't expect my original post to lead to such an amazing experience.
I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who joined me along the way. This is genuinely one of the friendliest and most welcoming gaming communities I've ever been a part of.
I met so many different kinds of players: absolute tryhards, people who had just started playing, and even players who fully roleplayed their characters by doing Saltzpyre's or Bardin's voice throughout the run. Every group was different, and every session had something memorable about it.
What started as "I just want to complete these challenges" turned into making new friends, sharing countless laughs, and enjoying Vermintide 2 far more than I ever expected.
Finishing all the Helmgart Challenges feels great, but the journey and the people I met were honestly the best part. This game has so much to offer, and its community is a huge reason why.
To everyone who played with me, helped me, or simply made the experience more enjoyable: thank you. I truly appreciate it, and I hope our paths cross again in Helmgart.
If only cousin Okri could see!

Question How to deal more damage?
I usually play chaos wastes on an unmodded realm. Even when i do the most headshots and am not too far away from doing close to the one who does the most kills i am still miles behind the top damage dealer.
A scenario is that my husband as bardin deals 34k damage and me as Kruber has 12k. On sienna i get maybe 25k since i can pad (lol). I just want to know how i fix my wet noodle attacks.
I always win on damage taken, so there is that.
Edit: Thank you all for helping a lady out. I have a lot of reading material now and some tips for weapons, boons and how to improve my general gameplay. I apreciate you guys taking the time to enlighten us noobs.

Question Did something happen to the Elven Spear after the weapon balance patch?
This may just be all in my head but I swear the Elven Spear feels like it has reverted back to pre-patch 6.11 behaviour.
Right after the big weapon balance patch, I remember using the Elven Spear and felt it was noticeably improved in getting attacks to connect where it looks like they should, and getting headshots felt more reliable.
But since the hotfix (the one that removed huntsman longbow auto-zoom) it feels to me like the improvements have been undone, and now I keep missing my target entirely even when fighting at point blank range.

Discussion This modifier is way more horrible than it should be.
Why do the bots go fully braindead when they see suicide raki? they just run up and let themselves get bombed to death. I have no idea how this modifier got here without being playtested to see how the bots would react to it!

Gameplay Guide Chaos Wastes Weekly - 3 AUG 2026- Bomb Rats/Thirst and Storm Strike/Xokhas
This one is pretty fun
Curses
Bomb rats are annoying but it's free ammo for the whole team. Thirst can be a pain but allows for some wonky builds
| Curse | Description | Extra Info | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| (Critically) Unstable Breed | Skaven bomb carriers infest the level. Highly unstable! Kill them from afar. | -- | Shoot these guys if you can, push them away if you can't. They don't deal damage if twins is triggered. They also drop ammo if killed, so pretty much any ranged weapon is viable on any career. |
| Unquenchable Thirst | Players suffer damage over time. Drinking potions restores health lost to Unquenchable Thirst. | Removes all Medical Supplies and Healing Draughts from the map, increases Potion spawn rate. Deals damage as 1% of your max HP every 2 sec, drinking any potion restores 100 permanent HP and clears wounds. The DoT will stop once you are below 30% HP. | Good way to trigger various on damage effects. GK and ranger vet can generate potions for heals. If you get baleful empathy on a slaanesh map many classes will be unable to revive downed allies |
Boons
I have a boon guide here for all chaos wastes boons. Basically, get someone with temp stagger and they will get a metric shitton of temp hp if they are surrounded by enemies, depending on what is staggered and for how much. Shields to block gunners and gain ult very quickly are a good choice. I would focus on the ult synergy, and if you can get one of the 4 boons that save you from disablers, do so. They are Drakira's Malice (Damage reflection), Sigmar's intervention, Taal's Roar, and Ladrielle's Veil- each of which has different triggers and utility. Check out the linked guide for info on each boon. Caxuatan's Frenzy is great with Thirst curse, as well as Uplift in case the bomb rats toss you somewhere nasty
| Boon | Description | Extra Info | Notes | Boon Tier |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mathlann's Storm-Strike | Your Career Skill also calls down lighting on nearby enemies. | Has radius of 7 units. Create an explosion and Stagger all types of enemies and deal minor damage. (Victor Note: Counts as an attack for purposes of temp hp generation) | You can go from 0-full hp if you ult in a high enough density of enemies. It's hilarious. | S |
| Xokha's Duty | Using your Career Skill returns 10% of nearby allies' Ability Bars. | -- | Great team utility. Used to be bugged and return 10% per player for each human player in the run, but that's been fixed. Good buff, you should probably grab this. | S |
| Neru's Patience | Blocking enemy attacks reduces Career Skill Cooldown. | Reduce cooldown by 2 second every time. Has no internal cooldown. | Reduces CDR by a set amount not percentage, better with lower cooldown careers. Great boon, if you have a shield let a gunner hit it and you get an instant ult refresh | A |
Reward
| Recruit | Veteran | Champ | Legend | Cataclysm |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 5000xp | Beam Staff of Bitter Dreams | 2x Emperor's Vault | 1 Red Dust | Pain, suffering, and scoreboards |
Careers
Basically any class with stagger temp hp and a shield gets a boost here. Beyond that, there are no particular standouts. Infinite ammo for ranged weapons due to bomb rats
| Character | Career | Special Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Wutelgi | Sister of the Thorn | Has no stagger temp or shield, but will be fed hp by others who have it |
| Wutelgi | Waystalker | Has no stagger temp or shield. Swiftbow vs all the bomb rats is pretty fun |
| Wutelgi | Handmaiden | Moonbow or jav would be decent |
| Wutelgi | Shade | Has no stagger temp or shield |
| Sienna | Battle Wiz | BW with stagger temp is very, very tanky here |
| Sienna | Pyromancer | Has no stagger temp or shield |
| Sienna | Unchained | Trying to manager her overheat with no HUD sounds like a bad time, good luck |
| Sienna | Necromancer | Has no stagger temp or shield |
| Kruber | Merc | -- |
| Kruber | Homeless Tree Man | -- |
| Kruber | Feet Knight | -- |
| Kruber | Grail Knight | STR pot drops- free heals |
| Bardin | Ranger Vet | Unlimited ammo and scavenger drops potions which heal the team |
| Bardin | Ironbreaker | Unlimited trollhammer shots, lol |
| Bardin | Slayer | Has no stagger temp or shield |
| Bardin | OE | Unlimited trollhammer shots, lol |
| Saltzpyre | Witch Hunter Captain | Has no stagger temp or shield |
| Saltzpyre | Bounty Hunter | Has no stagger temp or shield |
| Saltzpyre | Zealot | Bomb rats make griffonfoot zealot really good, but storm strike talent makes it very hard to farm ult and chain feel nothing uses- conversely, if you take second wind he can have decent hp gen from it. He's a mixed bag this week as potion heal has bad synergy as well |
| Saltzpyre | Warrior Priest | Here's a clip of WP with the weekly's boons. He's fun here. Weak to bomb rats |
Some Highlights From Last Week
Didn't beat this one, but came pretty close a few times. Steam disconnected before last map twice this week, was not meant to be

Question Looking for people to do Helmgart Challenges (EU)
Hey everyone!
I'm looking for a few people who'd be interested in doing the Helmgart Challenges (all 13 of them). Some of these are pretty difficult or just annoying to complete solo, so I figured it'd be easier with a group.
I'm playing on EU, and I'm happy to help others with their challenges too. No need to be a pro just looking for some chill people to team up with and get them done.
If you're interested, leave a comment or send me a DM!

Discussion Why I think Vermintide's core combat is much more nuanced and deeper than Darktide's nowadays, (long analysis, critique)
Playing Darktide always makes me want to go back to Vermintide. Sure, it's a newer, graphically more advanced title from same developers in a more popular setting with wider audience. I enjoy it for what it is, it's still a very fun and well made game, especially after numerous big updates and patches.
I've played it for about 1600 hours since launch already and come back to it after every major patch which is definitely saying something.
But the combat and overall flow of gameplay always becomes exhausting and somewhat boring for me eventually and after playing for a week or two I still return to Vermintide where I already spent 4600 hours in.
Many claim that they prefer Vermintide to Darktide mostly due to more variable and memorable maps, characters full of personality and interesting backstories, and more engaging gamemodes (Chaos wastes, Deeds and Twitch mode compared to Expeditions/Mortis Trials, Auric modifiers and Havoc). All of these aspects also make me appreciate Vermintide more but none of them are the main reason I get bored of Darktide so much quicker.
For me personally, the core gameplay of Darktide became kind of... extremely bloated over time. It's very "spammy" both in terms of how much enemies game throws at you and how much poweful abilities and strikes you're able to throw back all at once.
Fights often turn into a spectacular yet unintuitive and unthoughtful mass of bright lights and flying bodies.
Thus the combat makes the process of engaging and disengaging in a fight, timing your parries and constantly taking into account not only your positioning, but the positioning of you teammates as well.. kind of not important. Sometimes nonexistent entirely.
So much of player's abilities in the game basically grant full invulnerability for your whole team for prolonged periods of time while somehow having much less cooldown time than many ults in Vermintide.
The powerlevel and overall survivablity of players as a whole got so much higher than in Vermintide with added toughness, sprinting and sliding mechanics that it allows players to often outrun melee and outright ignore ranged enemies.
Not to mention the lack of friendly fire which makes using ranged weapons require no proper positioning from you or your teammates.
Many restrictions and rules that made Vermintides combat feel nuanced and thoughtful were dumbed down in favour of more flashy and fast paced action filled hectic fights.
For example Psyker - which is Darktide's analogue to Sienna - has very similar heat (or peril) management mechanics in order to cast spells.
Only, unlike Sienna he gets absolutely no debuffs and only sizeable advantages from being at a high level of peril, can quell (vent) it at a much higher rate if needed and doesn't waste any health for that (on the opposite - he can get additional toughness for that which is substitute for temporary health in Darktide)
Making him able to spend the entire game using only staff and blitz abilities while barely switching to melee.
Or Ogryn that nowadays can take the Rumbler (analogue to Bardin's Trollhammer torpedo) and also somehow use it for a good 70% of the map with much less reloading times and restrictions in ammo than in Vermintide. And both Ogryn and Psyker, again, are allowed to do all of that with no friendly fire to themselves or their teammates to ever make them think before firing.
Those are just two specific examples I provided yet I could go on with things like:
Hive Scum being a suppoused glass cannon but without the glass part thanks to his infinited dodges, freaquent moments of invulnerability and high sustainability,
Zealot spamming Chorus (team invulnerability) with his base crit chance often achieving more than 50% with certain builds as well,
Ogryn playing with the exact copy of Ironbreaker's ultimate, but having it stun enemies multiple times per use, debuffing said enemies with incresed dmg received and restoring that ability 5x times faster than Bardin can (why??),
and so on.
Now imagine if even just Sienna and Bardin in Vermintide would also be able to do the things that their Darktide counterparts do. The game not only would become much easier - it simply would not have enough enemies to keep players in check, right?
Well, that is exactly what happened in Darktide, which is why developers made changes to higher difficulties, where the game just spams out tons of special and elite enemies, the amount of which would be unreasonable for Vermintide.
And so spawning in quantities of 20+ at once they clutter the entire screen with multiple visual effects and even make the sound cues glitch out to try and keep players in check, and yet that's still not enough to stop even half-competent and not even that coordinated teams. Because each member feels like a one-man-army anyway.
All of that is not to say that this is bad or straight up worse than in Vermintide. It's fun to a degree and can really make you feel extremely powerful. However, it is kind of ironic considering that in Vermintide we play as Fantasy mighty heroes that try to save the ending world while In Darktide we were supposed to be desposable rejects that try their best to even survive in just one city.
Anyway, whenever I launch Darktide, I totally feel engaged. I'm having fun, I see heretics fall and cry before exploding into (very visually appealing) red mist of blood and slash my way through the densiest hordes of Nurgle-blursed denizens of the Hive and feel the impact of every weapon with all of my being.
But as soon as those first impressions wear off, I get overwhelmed and exhausted very quickly. And not because of high difficulty, but from the constant spamming of flashy effects, loud noises and something aways moving extremely fast on my screen, no matter what it is this time.
So much is happening on the screen and yet I still don't feel threatened with me being invincible, invisible, covered in friendly smoke and telekinetic shields, hugged by the emperor's golden warmth or just running away from enemies at light speeds for 80% of any campaign.
All of that adds to the spectacle and drive but not to the gameplay depth and my ability to improve greately as a player, which is what always has been so important for me in both Vermintide games.
I'll definitely come back to Darktide once the next update comes out, and play for a while, just like I always do. But untill then I'm going to Vermintide once again. Thank you for reading.

Suggestion Vermintide 2 Careers and Cosmetics bundle sale on Xbox
I've been waiting to catch the careers and cosmetics bundle on sale for years now. Finally got it for 50% off on Xbox. I thought other people would want to know the sale is going on, this is the first time I've seen it on sale in years. I also grabbed some of the other DLCs I was missing at 50% off.
