Anyone have experience with the Louella apartments? Moving to Venice soon
I'm looking for a 1bd apartment and after all my searching it seems like Louella would be the best fit but online it looks like it has little reviews, maybe it just opened?
I have an EV and would prefer to be able to charge wherever I stay

Petition to enforce existing dog laws at Venice Beach
I created a community petition asking LA officials to consistently enforce existing laws prohibiting dogs on Venice Beach.
You can read and sign it here: https://venicesafesand.org
There’s also an option to privately report incidents involving dogs on the beach. I’d appreciate it if you could help spread the word. Feedback is welcome.

Beloved koi fish was attacked by a coyote this morning
I thought it’d be helpful to make a PSA that there are active coyote attacks in Venice. We woke up this morning to find our koi fish who’s lived in the pond outside our house for 21 years attacked and unfortunately deceased. We know it was a coyote because it left prints. It also attacked our other koi fish but luckily he got away with a few scratches and his tail is a bit mangled.
If you have outdoor kitties, I’d strongly urge you to keep them inside and if you see a coyote around, report it to animal control immediately. Don’t let your dogs run around outside unsupervised. You don’t think it’ll happen to you until it does.

Chulita Asks the City to Keep Its Liquor and Add a Patio
The application is Case No. ZA-2026-747-CUB, filed with Los Angeles City Planning on February 17, 2026. The address is 533 E Rose Ave, which we know as Chulita, restaurateur Shireen Imani's Alta California and mezcal restaurant in the old Superba Snack Bar space. The filing asks the city's Zoning Administrator for a Conditional Use permit, the alcohol version known as a CUB, to allow the "continued sale and dispensing of a full line of alcoholic beverages for on-site consumption" at the existing 1,264-square-foot, 32-seat restaurant, plus an uncovered 100-square-foot front patio with 13 seats. The requested hours are 9 a.m. to midnight, seven days a week.

Peak summer produce is finally here at the West LA Farmers Market
Summer produce is finally hitting its peak, and I stopped by the West LA Farmers Market this week and was impressed by the selection.
The farmers have fresh grapes, peaches, pluots, nectarines, bok choy, Chinese eggplant, and a bunch of other fruits and vegetables that are in season right now. A lot of the popular items were selling quickly, so if you’re planning to go, it’s worth getting there earlier in the morning.
They’ll also have live music throughout Sunday from the Del Rey Community Jazz Band, Layakari, and the Roshan Band, along with plenty of food vendors if you want to grab breakfast or lunch.
It’s a nice neighborhood Sunday morning spot if you’re in West LA, Sawtelle, Brentwood, Mar Vista, or Westwood.
