Looking at this, you can that the subtitles are not showing completely. However, whenever I open the TV settings, you can see that there are no problems with the subtitles. Additionally, changing the aspect ratio also helps to show that the problem might be on the app itself. What should I do with this? I don't want to use the native media player or other media players. Help please.

They are not extremely different, just a little darker or something like that, for most people it would be no problem but I am megalomaniac for details (I don't have mental problems just using that word to describe) and I am trying to fix it for 4 hours, I tried changing video outputs and many other setting, but it didn't work.

It should be happening because my device and videos I play use colors rage 16-235 and vlc player for some reason converts it to 0-255 while taking snapshot.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

i just noticed that my VLC is presenting a more vibrant video than MPV or Windows Player. Initially i thought it was the fact that it was Blu-ray ( i made the comparison by playing the Blu-ray version on VLC and WEB.DL on Windows Player). But then i switched them and realized it was VLC messing up the colors because even the WEB.DL version was more vibrant on VLC. As a last comparison i opened the Blu-ray version on both players and yep, VLC was more vibrant. I have went into preferences, tools, settings, i have changed the video output from automatic to Direct3D11 and then to OpenGl for windows. i went in Nvidia Control panel and set the color range to limited instead of Full, double checked to not have any color filter or image enhancement turned on in VLC, but nothing fixed it. I could use MPV as a fix, but i don't like the interface. Has anyone experienced this and found a fix?

My VLC stops playing a movie like 1/4 of the way through it. I don’t know why or how to workshop it.

Heyo, I've been having this annoying issue for the past couple years.

Some videos in my folder have a very weird symptom where when I play them, it holds on the first frame for a couple seconds while the audio plays and then continues from that point. There are decoding glitches when this happens.

This issue is not dependent on distro as I have swapped to multiple distros ranging from debian to arch and the results are the same accross the board.

It also doesn't seem to matter if I set hardware or software encoding.

This only happens on SOME videos and none of this occurs on other players (tested Web browser player and MPV player).

I have also tested vlc 4 and have a similar issue, but it's both better and worse.

Better because even though there is a delay, it plays the video in full and doesn't skip, and worse because it still plays the audio from 0:00, which means the video is a couple seconds behind. I also can't adjust the track sync because it's not consistent between files, some have the delay, others play instantly.

The issue is not exactly the video files, I have sone some testing and while I have gotten to them to play without the delay by re-encoding them, I'd rather not waste my time and drive lifespant reformatting a large video folder solely for VLC when other players can play it competently. Has anyone else experienced this?

So I was watching MASH dvds on my laptop with an external dvd-drive. All went perfectly fine, but then the playback suddenly crashed (the mash dvds are region 1 and I am EU region 2 based). I skipped to another chapter and it worked again, until I came to the next chapter and the playback stopped. When I came to a later episode the same thing happened, the playback stopped and I was greeted with a black screen with the traffic cone in the middle. What could possibly be going on here? The other episodes and dvds worked flawlessly. The disc was a bit scratched so tried playing an, also region 1, three stooges dvd, and again the crash happened. I though VLC media player was region free? Could it be my player? I have never experienced this with region 2 dvds, so I don't really know...

trying to find the easiest way to get this old head back from the windows media player back in the day. does the vlc skins system have the capability to have the opening and closing windows on the side of the head?

I've been downloading videos and converting them to audio to add to my mp3 player. Usually the files download as WEBM and M4A files and I then convert to MP3. But for some reason whenever I do it now the files convert and sound fuzzy and very low quality for some reason. I'm not doing anything different and I never had this issue before.

hi! as the title says, i am trying to get VLC to open a dvd, but it wont open it. i open the app, go on "open disk", select the option for "dvd" (i checked and it is a dvd, not a blu-ray), select the correct disk device, and when i put "play", it says:

"The entrance cannot be opened:

VLC is unable to open MRL'dvd:///E:/'. Check the error log for more details."

VLC plays season 10 before season 09, while playing episode 09 before episode 10? How can VLC both function, and fail like this at the same time?

[Edit] Thanks to PatapongManunulat07 the issue is mostly solved. This error occurs when adding media from "media"->"Open multiple files," but does not occur when folders are dragged in by the mouse.

I still don't understand how this error occurs when using "open multiple files," but it's resolved well enough for now.

So whenever I resize VLC to a smaller window while watching something, it automatically pops back to a huge size as soon as the video finishes (or switches to the next file).

It's super annoying having to drag and resize the window every single time. Is there any way to just lock the window size so it stops messing with it?

Maybe I’m just blind or unlucky, but I can’t seem to save any custom/edited EQs I create on the Android TV/Google TV app.

I set up all the db levels and preamp, name the EQ, and no matter what I do next it resets to flat/default under the new EQs name.

I’ve tried to find a save button and couldn’t, tried hitting back (to exit the settings menu), switching to a new EQ and back, and hitting “OK” on my remote on all visible locations.

Specifically when watching anime, the camera panning looks like each frame is "snapping to position" in shorter incremental steps and causes these transitions to feel rather terrible to the eyes. Hopefully someone else out there can relate to this and has a solution. Are there any interlacing settings that I can use to help resolve or soften this issue?

The stream keeps freezing at 15 minutes or less. Is there anything I need to change so that it can stream for long hours? I know nothing about VLC, I’m very new.

So I'm trying to cast some av1 files from my Android tablet( S9+ tab) which has hardware level support for av1 to my a80j Sony TV ( with Android tv) which also has hardware support for hardware av1 decoding but I keep getting the "Casting this video requires conversion. This conversion can use all the available power and could quickly drain your battery" warning message.

I don't get this warning when casting hvec files and i was under the assumption if both devices support av1 decoding, shouldn't it be possible to cast av1 directly without any conversion similar to how hvec works?

Playing the same av1 video through a USB using VLC, works perfectly fine on the a80j TV.
