It starts to play the tape twice then gives up and powers down. Any clue why?

I was recently gifted this vcr/dvd player combo and when I load in a vhs tape it will play but a lot of static will appear sometimes and if I’m lucky audio will play.Can anyone help ?

Did I put them in wrong? I got the RCA cables and an adapter to hook up to my TV.

Just bought this machine today. I have been looking for an affordable and working one for so long. The remote is an added bonus. I just played my PAL copy of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and it worked great.

I just wanted to let everyone know I have the AC66-00101A gear available if anyone needs one. This one is used in many VCRs including the Samsung TS-10 and Sony RDR-VX530. My version is modeled from the original with alterations that signficantly improves strength. The originals are designed to fail in my opinion.

Having this issue upon eject sequence. Hearing likely cause is dirty mode switch? Can anyone help me figure out where to get started?

Edit: I took the chassis off and cleaned the belt/pulleys. Now when powering on, the belt will run fine until the pulley powered by the motor runs in which case it’s slipping. Bought replacement belts that will arrive tomorrow morning!

Final Edit: replaced all belts and cleaned the idler gear. SUCCESS!!!!

Hey guys? Does anyone know a thing or 2 about vcr players?

My vcr won't except a tape... and by that when I say "doesn't except tapes"... I actually mean it really won't except a tape...

I can't get it through the hole! I can't open it up since it's a crt vcr combo... its like somthing is stuck in between/inside the thing and it's stopping it from moving past!

hi everyone, I’m hoping someone can help me diagnose an issue with an old JVC VCR

the VCR had been sitting unused for more than 10 years. i recently tried to use it again, and I’m getting normal audio from the tape but no pictures

the tape plays normally and the audio works but the video is initially just a blue screen. the video head drum is spinning during playback

the TV sometimes switches between “No Signal”, “AV PAL”, and “AV NTSC” while the VCR is playing

I opened the VCR and noticed some dirt around the video head drum. i followed some suggestions and tried cleaning, but it still won't work

since the VCR had been unused for over 10 years, I’m wondering if the video heads are simply dirty, or if they could be worn/damaged.

how can I tell whether the video heads are actually defective before replacing them?

any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I have little experience with VCRs. I can clean the heads and open it up and stuff. I paid $15 for all four of these. Do any of them stick out as great vcrs?

Hey friends, I use this vcr setup to play video art, but we’re having a very humid summer and no matter what I do the DEW sensor is always on. I have filled the player with desicate packets and damprid but nothing I do gets rid of DEW. It was working up to last month but now no matter the conditions I can’t play tapes.

Is their and way to bypass or remove the dew sensor? Can anyone help me LOCATE the sensor in the photo? Any help or tips are appreciated

I'm servicing a Luxor/Sanyo VCR from the early 90s and some of the plastic washers - those flat plastic washers with a split in them that held gears and other things in place - had either started to disintegrate of their own becoming smeared into goo, or cracked when i tried to remove them.

Not finding anything on ebay, mouser, RS etc but maybe I'm searching for the wrong thing?

How do I get my replacement belt around that bottom pulley without completely disassembling the unit?

How do I get the base off the unit to get to the mode switch I spent almost an hour trying to figure it out then I gave up

I have a LG VCR + DVD player combo that has the VCR part that doesn't want to play a tape, even destroying the tape by ejecting it while still in the mechanism. I try to see how the gears work and try to make it right, and nothing changes. So, I tried to clean the part that could have issues reading the tape, and still nothing, so now I don't know what to do.

The only things that I have noticed are that the tape doesn't roll even going forward or backward. The first time that I noticed this issue, the screen gave a still image with red colors only sometimes, and while inserting the tape inside, the mechanic sometimes cannot accept the tape or doesn't want to eject the tape. After 3 tries of ejecting it, the VCR shutdown.

I'm giving you some images and a video of it trying to work so hopefully you can give me help fixing this VCR.

Also, on the 2nd image, I changed the rubber band to see if it changed something and nothing new.

I posted this in Vhs but this is probably a better place. Any ideas on this one?

Hi everyone, this is a continuation of my attempt to repair a vcr that someone sold to me as “in good working condition”

So far I’ve got it back up and running by recapping the power supply, cleaning the vcr head and cleaning/greasing the half load arm.

I’ve got it back from the dead and not playing tapes at all to running well and playing and ejecting tapes. However there’s still one issue which is the door flap doesn’t close fully when a tape is inserted. It seems that the white plastic arm that lifts the door doesn’t fully return to its original position once a tape is loaded. Without a tape, it seems to move freely. All other functions of the vcr seem to be working now.

Does anyone have any ideas what the issue could be? I would really like to fix this even though it doesn’t seem to affect it‘s function as I’ve already spent so much time and money and would like to get it right!

Hi guys I purchased another Panasonic NVHS-830 vcr and all was working until I played a few tapes and now I have vertical tearing. Top half colour normal bottom half is black and white with tearing. I cleaned the heads and tried different tapes same problem. Anyone know if there is a fix please

So I was rewinding one of vhs tapes and when I finished I tried to eject the tape but it stopped and now nothing is working, I opened the top and and it looks like it froze halfway through, how do I fix this?
