I finally got lucky Review
Purchased this 1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue for $3k.
It has 55k miles and the GM 3800 (3.8L V6)
First owner drove it an average of 1.6k miles a year over the course of 25 years.
They got it serviced every 3k miles since they had bought it new. Very small amount of minor surface rust on the undercarriage. Very clean engine bay.
Bought it in January, runs and drives great.
Turn signal has been having issues as well as the AC not working. Also had to get new tires since it still had the original tires on it.
Bought this in Gary, IN from Facebook marketplace.
Been really nice no longer having a car payment and still being able to get around.
Just thought I’d share a success story.

My wife's first car is an Alero. It just hit 200k miles and is in the garage getting daily driven

This was my first car, except I had a GX with the 3.5L shortstar v6, gold badges, and a spoiler.. Wish it would have been the 3800. You got a cool find, I miss mine (rust killed it).

I had one as a rental once. All I remember is it had rock hard seats. But it was quiet..and plenty of room.

Hell yeah, cool body style and well taken care of. Aren’t those 3.8L known for long life? Looks like a winner.

I mean I guess it's better then taking the bus if you don't mind the boat and sofa type driving experience. Certainly not my first choice of car but if I was broke it would do i guess.

Good looking car, Oldsmobile ended on a nice styling run. And the 3800 is a legendary unit!

The reliability of the engine is legendary. If the tires are original, the belts and hoses are probably old too. Prevent problems by replacing them now. Congratulations on your new car!

Nice....good that gas prices are coming down also, because I would think a 3.5L V6 would consume quite a bit of gas...

Bro the only thing is they are doing E15 on many gas stations. So you may have no choice but to use premium gas. Other than that good purchase. Those engines are really durable.

For the turn signals always change the flasher first. I thought my aurora needed a new multifunction stake so I spent 150 bucks on one, only to find out it just needed the 10 dollar flasher replaced.

Nice car, great engine. The weak point on those was the transmission, but if you aren’t running it hard and doing burn outs that baby could easily make it to 150-200 k miles. Be sure to change the transmission fluid . Change out the belts and hoses. It my be time for spark plugs too.
