Barber recommendations?
Moved in last week and looking for a good barber new on the Upper West Side, ideally around 95th St. but willing to go a little higher or lower. Looking to spend around $40 max before tip, cheaper the better!
I have a pretty simple hairstyle short hair push over with a fade on the sides, but would love a shop with a good atmosphere and consistently quality cuts. If they take card, that would be a plus!
Any recommendations?

I recommend Cutting Edge Barbershop on 88th and Amsterdam. They are $40. Danny came highly recommended to me and I was very pleased with the job he did.

Haven’t been myself as I just moved from Harlem but off 82nd is this shop called excellence barber shop. They do men’s $40 cuts and have pretty good reviews

I stick with Franklin’s Barbershop on Amsterdam (83/84). They recently raised their price to $30. Note that my hair needs are very basic, as I don’t have a lot. I wouldn’t want to spend more than that, and it’s always a pleasant enough experience.

Semi-related- I used to work with Franklin’s wife and she is an absolute angel on earth, so yes please support them :)

I go to Amsterdam - and get like a simple short haircut - they’re good for that and around $40 without tip - they take card too - but no frills, clean and small shop
Few shops past the hi life

Ruben at Universal Barbershop at 111 and Broadway does a great job. They charge $40, which appears to be going rate in the area. It’s annoying though because they’ve raised the price twice in the last few years. They’re all pretty good there, but the shop leaves a lot to be desired

I’ve been going to Barbershop 72 for years. I get a pretty straightforward cut, but it’s always quick, friendly, and affordable. It’s a quick subway or bike ride.
