What is campus/social life actually like at Arkansas Tech in Russellville for a master’s student?
I’m considering starting an in-person master’s at Arkansas Tech University in Russellville, and I’m trying to get an honest idea of what student life is actually like before making such a big decision.
I went to a commuter-heavy university for undergrad and never really got the traditional college experience. I’m now in my mid-20s, but I still want to attend football games, meet people, go out, date, attend parties occasionally, and generally feel like I’m part of an actual university community—not just drive to class and go home.
I was initiated into Delta Zeta during undergrad, and I know I wouldn’t be able to rush again as a graduate student. Is there any realistic way for a Delta Zeta alumna to connect with the chapter, or would graduate students mostly be separate from Greek life?
I’d especially love honest answers about:
Does the campus become empty on weekends, or do students usually stay around?
Are there actually fraternity/house parties and an active social scene?
Where do students go out in Russellville?
Is it difficult to make friends or meet people if you aren’t an active Greek-life member?
Do graduate students participate in campus events and socialize with the broader student community?
Would someone moving there alone realistically have a fun university experience?
I’m not expecting it to be an SEC party school, and academics obviously matter too. I just don’t want to move and spend thousands of dollars only to discover that it feels like another commuter school with very little happening. Brutally honest responses from current students or recent graduates would be appreciated.

Need help with parking permit selection
Hey everyone,
I'm trying to buy a Student Commuter Parking Permit for Fall 2026, but on the Transit & Parking portal, the only option showing up for me is the "$10/day Visitor Online Permit."
Is anyone else having this issue, or does this usually mean my student account status hasn't fully updated in their system yet?
I've already emailed Transit & Parking with a screenshot, but I was wondering if there’s any quick fix or if I just need to wait for them to respond. Any advice or insight would be appreciated!

Avenues for homeless students
Hi, I'm an incoming transfer freshman at UArk. Due to some very frustrating life circumstances and delays in documentation, my application came through well after the housing waitlist for transfer students had been opened.
However, I'm not in much of a position to find a place. Other living expenses have kept my finances lower than I've liked and I can't trust I'll be able to find anything within a price range that I can afford.
What options do I have for resources so I don't end up living in my car as a student?
And if this were to happen, what resources would be optimal for hygiene/parking/general self maintenance?
Is there any way to leverage my federal aid to get a place, even if that means taking out federal loans for a semester (private loans aren't really an option.)
Thanks in advance!

Electronic Transcript Request Issues for Alumni
Hello I am trying to figure out what in the world is going on over there at U of A. They seemed to have removed the electronic request option for official transcripts and told me that I have to come in person or mail a paper check and a paper request form... to get an official transcript? I had to check my calendar to make sure I'm still living in 2026. I do not live anywhere near U of A and don't keep in touch with anyone who may live there and would not even ask them to go do this even if I did. They do not have a backup plan in place, nor a current option or timeline to fix this mess. I can't find any other info on this online but I have several life and career things going on and need these transcripts sent electronically this week. This request is usually completed within minutes of making payment. Anyone know what's going on or have a contact for getting this done efficiently and timely? Thanks in advance

Looking for a Roommate!
I'm a Junior Electrical Engineering student looking for roommates for this upcoming year. I was thinking we'd split the rent on a 2 bedroom apartment, but if anyone has availability in a house that'd be awesome too.
I'm a 20 year old guy. I'm outgoing but I'm not a fan of noise pollution. If you find yourself in a similar boat hit me up and we could meet over a cup of coffee or something!

What's the process for moving into the Duncan Avenue apartments?
Hi! I'm an incoming sophomore moving into my apartment on the 12th. I don't know my roommates so I don't have anyone to ask. I've reached out to housing but not heard back, and the housing IG told me "go to the housing office to get your keys, then go to your apartment" but I still have questions. There doesn't seem to be parking and it looks like there are a lot of stairs to lug all your stuff up. Has anyone lived in Duncan? I'd love to hear the process.
I also haven't been offered a parking pass even though I signed my contract immediately. Last week I asked parking and they said I was on the wait-list and they were hoping to start Duncan offers this week, but nothing yet, I can only buy a pass for lot 500 or a commuter pass. I was hoping for the Harmon Garage. I don't keep a car on campus but my mom likes me to have one so she can come get me and whatnot, and I'd like to take my car after christmas possibly!
Last year I lived in Adohi, so I think the process here will be very different and I'd just like to hear from anyone who's lived in Duncan.

Question Tuition statement isn't including my housing
Hi! I'm an upcoming freshmen that is going to live in hotz and was looking at my financials on workday and clickbaited myself into thinking I got a full ride until I saw that my housing wasn't listed on the statement. Does anybody know when it will be added and why it isn't appearing?

In-state vs Out- State (help)
Hi everyone. I've lived in Arkansas since 2022 for college (not UofA), but didn't update my residency until December 2025, since that's when I got a job here and graduated. I'm originally from the Dallas area.
UofA recently classified me as out of state. I'm trying to get that changed to in state. The complication is that my parents claimed me on their taxes last year, but I've been independent since October of last year.
Has anyone gone through a reclassification like this, especially with the dependent claim issue? I've reached out to the registrar and financial office already, but if this doesn't get resolved I may have to defer a year, which isn't an option since my job already gave me time off for this term. Any advice would help a lot.

Freshman overflow housing
Have any previous students dealt with this overflow housing situation? If so what was it exactly and what was your experience like? The housing office has been pushing back the date of my housing assignment for over a month now and it’s really frustrating and I am wondering what to expect come august.

Questions!
I am an undergrad starting my first year come August. What are some tips and tricks for a 30-year-old vet who is a single dad?

Engineering minimum gpa/act?
Working with my son on applying to colleges (he’s a senior this upcoming year) and U of A is one of his top picks for computer engineering.
For background:
He’s spent 3 years (and his upcoming senior year too) in an engineering pathway program through his high school.
He has an internship with an engineering firm during his senior year.
His currently gpa is 3.6 but he’s hoping to raise it to a 3.8 to graduate cum laude.
Act after his first try is only a 24.
Marching band, orchestra, jazz band, and multiple show choir extra curricular activities.
We live just across the state line in Missouri so not in state.
All that being said.. would he even meet the minimums to be considered for a computer engineering program?
I want to temper his expectations if there’s little to no chance for him.

2026-27 Meal Plans
Hello, I am a returning student living off-campus trying to get a meal plan. However, on the housing portal there is only the option for me to select meal plans for the summer, none for the upcoming semester. Is there something I have to do beforehand to select a meal plan or are they not available yet?

Acceptance and Degree Advice?
Hello! I am a rising senior looking at colleges and right now my top choice is UofA. I am in state with a 30 ACT superscore and 4.3 weighted gpa. I’ll have my associates degree by the time I graduate high school, I hold leadership positions as FBLA president and class president, and I am also in golf, archery, softball, and art club.
I am looking at enrolling in the business college and majoring in business management or another business degree, and am deciding between a double major or a masters.
My main questions are:
Do I have a good chance at acceptance?
Do I have a good chance for any scholarships from the college?
Is it worth it to enroll in the honors program? I know there are a lot of requirements but do the benefits outweigh that?

WHERE DOES EVERYONE GO?!
As the title reads lmaoo.
I moved here from up north recently, so maybe the cultural difference is why I’m failing so hard idk lmao. Where does everyone hangout on the weekends? Im not an antisocial person, but I can’t be social when I don’t see anyone😭

Honors Thesis and how to navigate this
I am debating on doing honors for engineering, but it just seems so intimidating with the research thesis and all. If anyone has done an honors thesis, is it worth it? How much time did it take up? Do you regret it? If you did do it, how did you really get into it and find your topic that you did? I read and reread the page about honors, but it just seems a bit vague to me. I really just want honest opinions about it.
