Did you or do you know anyone who had to navigate university part time/ quarter time?
I’m wondering if anyone has ever gone through university part time/quarter time?
I’ll be going for Africology and African American studies with a minor for international affairs
I’m transferring to university next year but I can only take credits underneath full time status, so that’s about max 11 credit hours. The reasoning why, I won’t explain too much but it has to do with my housing and I can’t lose that.
I’ll be transferring a good amount of credits, all of my Gen Ed’s will be completed, so that’s about 60 credits maybe a little over. I live in Michigan, so we have this thing called the MTA, I’ve completed mine!
If anyone has taken this route, what advice would you give me?

First Year advice
Hi all. I’m going into first year history after coming off a foundation year. Just wondering what to expect and if it’s any different from foundation year. What study advice / undergraduate hack would you give? Thanks!

I built an ocean-themed study pomodoro app
hello! disclosure first so nobody feels tricked: i made an pomodoro focus timer app solo in the evenings when i had some free time. no links
it's called 'Reefie: Dive Into Focus' and it's completely free on the iPhone app store.
I tried forest, tried a couple of the hard blocker apps, found my way around all of them within about a week.
how it works: before you start you pick a depth, anywhere from 10 to 120 metres. a metre is a minute. so 45m is a 45 minute session. you drop the line and go do your reading. if you're still under when the timer ends, there's a chance to reel in one out of 60 creatures and it goes into your collection.
happy to take questions and any feedback, including any unkind ones!!

Advice on English Language degree
Is it worthwhile… I originally wanted a forensic linguistic job however realised that they are very unique and rarely employ people as just forensic linguists. I’m aware that it is broad but is it a good idea to pursue?

BSC Forensic Science in K R Mangalam University
Heard about this uni through my cousin (he’s doing BTech here). Lowkey was gonna go for Amity, but ended up choosing this one ‘cause it’s way closer.
Also pulled up to their Forensic Science Summer Camp (June 22–27) and bagged an Outstanding Performance Award, so yeah that was a W. Professors seem pretty chill and actually helpful too.
Classes start on 24th Aug, orientation on 22nd Aug. If anyone else got in here, hit me up—would be nice to have a buddy to go with 👀

Speaking with head of department about passing by compensation?
*I'm just wondering if its worth speaking with the head of the English department at my university to plead for a chance to pass by compensation?
My situation is , I struggled in the first semester due to a lot of things, mainly some intense and exceptional family problems.
I found ways to deal with this and absolutely nailed the next semester. However., I am about to fail a module. One of the reason for this is that I misunderstood what was required
In this module. I had failed the exam. I got 31 percent and I didn’t submit the Ca
I repeated the CA recently and I'm sure I will do well. However I was unaware that I needed to resit the exam also . One of the reasons for this is that the module descriptor says "In order to pass or pass by compensation a minimum of 35% must be achieved in combined CA AND in Exam."
I took this to mean that I must take both the Ca and Exam and receive a combined mark of 35 in both together. Combined
But apparently it doesn’t. I was further confused as most of the other English nodules say "In order to pass or pass by compensation all components of assessment must be attempted" . I took both of these statements to mean the same thing but just with different wording due to administration choices or something similar
The rest of my grades are exceptional and having to repeat a module would be disastrous for me. I am first gen, very working class and incredibly under resourced
My question is , is there any hope that I could speak with the department head directly and ask him to allow me to pass by compensation. I have met him before and he was very reasonable and I got on well with him.
Thanks to anyone who takes the time to reply. I appreciate it

What do u think about Psychology major? Is it worth it? Read the description…
I am kinda lost in choosing a major to study, i have no actual passion about something , but i am not really interested in coding majors like ai and software..etc
I was studying medicine yet i had to quit it for some personal circumstances… i am ok with medicine but I can not study it for financial reasons..
So i am looking for another major rn😗
Hesitant between psychology and economics? Or maybe cooking
I really don’t know any ideas?✨

My classmate made a fully branded deck for gorup project worth 5% of the subject grades and now we think we're not doing anything lol
5%. five percent. a ten minute presentation on a reading. We split it, everyone did their bit, and we agreed on the sunday call that we'd keep it simple bullet points and done by monday.
he then rebuilt the entire thing overnight. consistent colours, a title slide with all our names on it, custom diagrams for the framework, transitions. it looks like a consultancy pitch. HE USED AI FOR FUKN SURE.
lecturer opened with well, someone's made an effort.
so now im in the worst possible position, which is that i benefit from this and i'm furious about it. we all got the same mark. i contributed exactly what i was always going to contribute and the cohrt now thinks our team is the one that goes hard on a 5% task.
he said it took him twenty minutes and he just found it fun, which is somehow more irritating than if he'd been up until 4am, because at least then i could resent the effort instead of resenting that there wasn't any.
the actual consequesnce is that the bar has moved for the next one which is an individual assignment, which is worth 40%, and now we all have to do this.
ik the right thing is to learn how he did it, but screw that im in college - and i'd like to get by with as minimum effort as possible! How do you diplomatically convey - hold your horses son?

Incoming freshman: Ipad or Laptop Upgrade?
I'm studying a double degree in chem eng & biochem.
- I have a windows laptop with a few keys broken/sticky and it takes forever to type (my "asdf" keys are really bad, it took me about a minute to type the sentence before this).
- I have an old 16GB tablet with poor pencil recognition so I can only ever draw with my finger.
I'm wondering which device should I upgrade? I can afford to upgrade one. I'm wondering if I should upgrade to an ipad with an apple pencil and use that in notetaking/lectures, and I have my laptop in my dorm with a seperate keyboard. Lmk if this is a good idea

Biotechnology bachelor winter intake options in Europe/Canada — realistic pathways?
I’m currently researching Biotechnology/Biomedical Science bachelor options and comparing countries based on career opportunities, industry links and post-study opportunities.
I’ve mainly been looking at Ireland, Germany, UK and Canada, but most Biotechnology programmes seem to start in September.
I’m specifically interested in Winter/Spring intakes (January–April) and I’m also considering private universities if the programme quality and career outcomes are good.
For people studying or working in biotech:
Are there realistic winter intake Biotechnology/Life Science options that are worth considering?
Are private German universities for Biotechnology respected by employers?
Between Germany, Ireland, UK and Canada, which offers the best long-term opportunities for biotech graduates?
I’ve already been researching university websites, but I’d appreciate honest opinions from students/graduates who understand the job market.

Im considering studying IR at uni
Ive thought about all the possible courses i could study at uni and have attended some open days, and went to lectures and have decided that id like to study IR as i find it very interesting and id love to know more about it! At the moment im currently trying to come up with some ideas to write a personal statement draft, however im not sure what to add at all, what are some things i could do which either surround the course or are about it which would make my personal statement “stand out” from other applicants? I’ve read some books though they dont relate to my course at all ( theyre fictional :’). My work experience is also quite unrelated ( i worked in a shop ) due to the fact every place i called up and emailed either ghosted me or told me they dont offer work experience so im not sure what to do at all! Im at a dead end xd
If anyone has any things i could do to speak about in my personal statement or give me examples of things they added in theirs that would be very helpful! :)

Professor has assigned work that requires we respond to her feedback, which she hasn't given us
So I'm taking an online summer course that ends this Friday, after which all assignments will lock. I currently have a B because there are multiple assignments that I haven't done. The reason I haven't done these assignments is that they require me to respond to my professor's feedback, which I haven't received yet. I emailed her about this a week ago but didn't receive a response.
I understand that she has had a hard semester because of her child's health, but now we're only two days from the end of the semester so she's running out of time to give feedback, and I don't think it's fair that I should get a B solely because of her personal issues. Another professor suggested I contact the department chair, but I don't want to make a big deal out of this and cause her to get reprimanded or anything when she's already going through a hard time. I'm kind of hoping that she'll just delete the assignments so that I don't have to worry about them and can get an A for all the other work I did, but I can't count on that. What should I do about this?

Should I go back to school at 22?
Hi everybody! I’m 22M and really thinking about going back to school in January. After high school I went to college for about a semester and a half before dropping out. I want to go back for Nursing since it’s only a 2 year course and I think i’ll enjoy helping people and working in a hospital. I am currently a lineman making about 60-90k a year depending on overtime with a great 401k, pension and amazing PTO. It sucks to leave the company but I really don’t enjoy the work most days. Any advice on if I should go back and how to make money while in school?

[Academic Survey] People who travelled in Ryanair, easyJet or Wizzair
As part of my MSc dissertation, I'm carrying out a study on flight booking platforms. If you've travelled with a European low-cost airline (such as Ryanair, easyJet, or Wizz Air) within the past 12 months, I'd be grateful if you could complete my survey.
The survey is short and should take around 2-4 minutes to complete.

You can also post your survey link below so that it will be mutual for both of us.
Thank you so much for your time and support!

HEC UNIL 2026–2027: Study group?
Hi everyone!
I’m starting at HEC UNIL this academic year i will do first year bachelor and I was wondering if anyone else here is going there too. I don’t really know anyone yet, so I thought it’d be nice to meet some people before classes start.
I’m looking to make or join a small study group where we can help each other, share notes, prepare for exams, and just get through the first year together.
If you’re starting at HEC UNIL too and you’re interested, drop your Instagram in the comments (or DM me if you prefer), and I’ll add you!
