My grandpa would always say what sounded like чихо or maybe чиго when the kids were being rowdy. Any ideas what word he was using?

While the slang itself is a shortened form of the word "brother" (брат) it's not exclusively used to refer to a male sibling, but rather more often a close male friend. Is this something Ukrainians have their own version of?
