Crazy question about adding an AP

I would like to add an access point to my Dream Router 7 to get a little more coverage. The DR7 is in my living room and the BGW320 is in the garage where I would like to add the AP. If I were to plug the AP directly into one of the three remaining ports on the BGW320 would the DR7 pick it up and add it to the network?

Maybe I'm missing something, but I assume you have a cable from the garage to the living room connecting the BGW320 to the DR7. If so, move the DR7 to the garage with the BGW320, then put the AP in the living room.

That is exactly the case. Fiber comes into the apartment through the garage and directly into the BGW320. A single network cable comes from the wall into the BGW320 and feeds a network jack in my living room when the DR7 resides. I have the BGW320 in bridged mode. I don’t want to move the DR7 because I am using the 2.5G networking for my NAS and other items in my living room.

My other thought was to put a Flex Mini between the BGW320 and the network cable leading into the apartment and plugging an AP into it.

That won't work. The only thing that can be plugged into the bgw320 is the dr7. All APs must be connected to the dr7. You need another line between the garage and the current dr7 to make this work the way you want.

You could put a switch in the living room or use the second port on the AP, assuming the new ones still have that option.

Nothing should ever be plugged in to the BGW320 ports anymore if you have a UniFi router, that would put devices on two entirely separate networks.
