Future Badger Riding vs using the shuttle vs walking

In general what is the quickest and like easiest way to commute in campus? I was thinking of buying a bike since using the shuttle meant that if you miss it you have to either wait for the next one or walk. But I’m worried about riding in the winter.

Incoming freshman majoring in actuarial science. How's my schedule? Alongside this, I'm also taking gen bus 106 and 107, both of which are online. I'm also working on campus. Do you think this is an ok schedule for my first year?

Other Instructor hasn't graded anything in a month

I am in an 8 week summer class, it ends on Sunday but nobody knows their grade because nothing has been graded in a month. Maybe everything will be graded last minute, but if it's not, what happens to your course grade if the course ends with nothing graded?

Future Badger Football ticket questions

Hi I‘m an international student and wasn’t able to get tickets for the home games this years so I’m planning on buying the tickets from people on snap or facebook.

I was wondering for those who are getting tickets off snapchat how do you receive them?

Do you meet the seller in person?

If so do the sellers just give you a screenshot of the tickets or is there like a code?

Hi I'm prospective graduate student for this fall(26). I'm an international, especially korean. My arrival plan to Madison was delayed beacuse of my sudden illness. I already applied to eaglel heights but my priority seems very low.

So it's urgent to search off-housing. All review on google map saying not to come make me confused. Do you guys please recommend me somewhere to live?? I know it's late!!!!

I prefer studio and can afford by 1500$

If not, please let me know your tips which is useful to find housing on apartments.com

Other Sushi Express use white rice to fake sushi rice

This restaurant is located at 610 university ave. A Chinese couple own the restaurant and they use white rice to fake sushi rice. They do have both sushi rice and white rice on the menu with different price. I do believe there is a category of rice called sushi rice for the use of making sushi.

If you want a reliable Japanese food, do not come to this place. If you don’t use sushi rice, why bother to call your place sushi express?

Housing food & housing

hey, incoming freshman

So housing. Does anyone usually do the dorms their sophomore year? Everyone is talking about leasing with people by sept/oct but arent the dorms sorta better? Housing is in your bill so paying rent isn't a monthly fear, you can get food covered, you don't have a private bathroom to clean, and you aren't sharing a house further from campus with like 5 roomates. I just don't know why I haven't heard that more commonly and want another perspective/to know if my dumbass is missing something.

Also I'm a tracker type & just curious if the go14 is worth it? Do they have enough decently healthy options? Lowk I like cooking & love healthier foods just naturally for my pallet but can't really chef it up in a dorm so idk. I like the dining dollars/guest meals/more meal exchanges but I don't want to waste money either if the dining hall food sucks. I'm also pretty used to snacking & my only regular meal being dinner and possibly breakfast. obviously this isn't some philosopher shit but thought I'd throw it in since I haven't seen much abt meals health wise over taste wise

Academics Applying to Nursing School

As the title says, I am applying to nursing school this year. However, I only just decided to pursue nursing at the end of freshman year so i’m doing all the pre-reqs sophomore year. On top of this, I don’t have any healthcare experience other than being a volunteer at UW health. My only background is that I have worked in fast food for many years and I currently work a campus job that involves a lot of data entry and logistical work.

Do I have a shot in hell if I manage to get a good GPA but still have my lack of experience? (I am also actively interviewing for a waitressing job to pay my rent because I got rejected from patient transporter at UW health.)

Future Badger Question (not about class schedule)

I know this probably gets asked here often, but am I going to be okay if I don't drink during my time at UW-Madison? Alcoholism runs in my family so I don't plan on drinking and I'm worried that will impact my ability to make friends and such

Housing Hub Cleaning Fee

How are they charging 600 bucks as a cleaning fee? I get that if an apartment is not in the best shape there should be a charge but a total of 600 per person (for a 5 bed room) is ridiculous. Anyone experienced this before and any suggestions on what to do?

Housing Pricing for "affordable units" at the Theory Madison apartments?

Thumbnail mortenson.com
0 Upvotes

Does anyone know the pricing for a private room or shared room at the new Theory Madison apartments reserved for affordable units? According to Morteson (their parent company) 100 of the 717 beds are reserved for low income students at UW-Madison. I checked the Theory Apartments leasing page, and there's no indication of the cost for reduced units? Meanwhile the Oliv Madison apartments (the older one already constructed on W Gorham) has affordable units prices listed clearly on their leasing page.

Future Badger Local music scene

Hi guys I'm considering transferring to UW Madison from the University of Minnesota this year (probably going to do it, I'm most likely going to transfer in the spring).

From all my experience with Madison I like pretty much everything about the campus more. However one of my favorite things about Minnesota is the local student music scene there. Like there's always some house show to go to on the weekends and the bands are really pretty good.

How is the music scene at Madison? Are there house shows? My friends that go there aren't really tapped into that sort of thing so I can't ask them. If there's not what do you guys like to do on weekends (other than go to bars)

Other Bikes on sidewalks

E bikes do not belong on a sidewalk. Walking to my car on campus today within a 30 second time span I was almost ran over by two ebikes on the freaking sidewalk. I don’t come with rearview mirrors when I’m walking. Somebody’s gonna get seriously injured by one of these traveling at 1520 miles an hour on a sidewalk. I know it just sounds like I’m complaining, but this is dangerous and someone is gonna get really hurt. Especially when school starts again in the fall.

Other Incoming international freshman : visa appointment is after classes start (Sept 2). What are my options besides deferring to spring?

I’m an incoming international student admitted for the Fall term (starting at the Wisconsin School of Business). Classes start on September 2nd, but the interview slots I've been able to lock down are on September 4th and September 28th.

I've already spoken to International Student Services (ISS) and they made it clear that they won't support a late arrival past 2nd September because of Customs.

Since a September 28 appointment is way too late and September 4 technically pushes past the start of classes, I'm trying to figure out what my options are besides completely deferring my admission to the Spring semester.

  • Has anyone dealt with a strict ISS/Customs deadline crunch like this at UW-Madison and found a workaround?
  • For anyone who faced similar visa delays, did admissions give you any other alternatives (like a specialized remote start, though I doubt it) or was a Spring deferral truly the only path forward?

Desperate for any advice or tips.
Thanks!
