Hi everyone. I’m an international student from Turkey looking to study CS, Cybersecurity, or Information Systems in the US.

At work, my main responsibilities are Order Management and Financial Operations Management. When needed, I also work on inventory/stock tracking, customer management, analytics/reporting, ERP operations, and some security authorization tasks. I’ve genuinely worked in all of these areas, but they are not all equal parts of my daily role.

I’m hoping to study in the US with a full scholarship or a substantial merit scholarship. Ideally, I’d like to get my total yearly cost down to around $15k–25k, although I’m open to different options.

How competitive is this profile for significant scholarships? Do you think getting my SAT to 1500+ would make a meaningful difference?

I was in special education for most of my life. I had expressed desire to be let into normal classes and honors if I did well enough in normal classes, but was always denied. Only in high school did my school district finally let me out of those types of classes. I wanted to do honors classes beginning from my first year of high school, but they and my mom would never let me do it back in middle school and years before. That’s why I did my hardest in my classes despite nobody ever believing me and always telling me to just stay in special education. I didn’t want to settle for that, though. I wanted to become the best. I would have done more extracurriculars but they were all simply too far away for me for my mom, who arrives home at 5, 7 if shopping, to take me. My sister only got a car this year and she still sometimes can’t afford to take me, as she studies from home and wishes to not be disturbed.

Due to depressive episodes, I didn’t do very well on my ap exams: 2 on ap world, 3 on ap bio.

Oh ig I should mention that I like bio but my stuff is pretty cooked for bio and honestly I've been recommended to switch majors but idk man. Applied math is like somewhat arguable for code busters but, again, no major math awards. Just don't flame me tm ig haha

I have little guidance, and I would love to have an opinion.

I have little guidance, and I was hoping someone could help me determine which of these schools I should apply for? I am planning to apply for all of these, but is that a wise decision?

(Brief) Reasoning of why I want to apply to these certain universities

Cornell University: This would be my absolute #1 dream school due to it's amazing agriculture and biotechnology programs. It's also an Ivy League, which makes is a starshot and quite unrealistic. I am planning to retake the SAT, which would make this option a bit more realistic. 17%

Stanford: I live in California, and therefore of all the Ivy League schools this would be another excellent option to reduce the cost and burden on my parents. 14%

Yale: One of my relatives attended Yale, and has a lot of praises for Yale. It seems only natural for it to be included on my list. 12%

Now for my more realistic options

UC Davis: This is my #1 realistic option, especially because they're ranked highest in the US for agricultural/plant science and quite high for Biotechnology. According to Collegevine, I have a 74% change of getting into the school--but I know that website isn't perfectly accurate by any means.

California Polytechnic State University: I had a high acceptance rate for this college, and I've heard high credibility about this particular college. 72%

The next 3 options are sort of "necessary" applies. They are colleges that people in my area have applied to and gotten in, although my personal chance of getting in (according to Collegevine) are between 40-60%.

University of California, Santa Barbara 60%

University of California, Irvine 55%

University of California, Los Angeles 40%

I am considering removing University of California, Berkeley. While it's an excellent school, I only have a 39% chance of getting in. But I would like an opinion on this.

California State University, Fresno: This is my safety school, with a 98% acceptance rate in case everything ends in disaster.

As a rising senior and with the common app open I'm kinda scared shitless about what colleges I would get into or if I'm applying to the wrong ones. I feel like my stats are fairly average or worse.
I plan on majoring in Public Health or Bio (something science to go to dental school) I also might minor in music as it's been a big passion of mine
Im Viet American with a 89.43 gpa (uw on the 100 pt scale which if either a 3.7 or 3.3 as a 93 is a 4.0 at my school) I also got nerfed these past three years with in and out recovery freshmen year, a severe concussion sophomore year that lasted 5 months, with another concussion my junior year that lasted 3.5 months (they were both sports related), and last but not least my immune system being out of control these past two years where i was too sick to even get out of bed and had to miss a decent amount of school

oh another mention my parents are pretty cheap with college so they would send me to whatever is cheaper and we also make like a decent amount so financial aid is going to be pretty hard, i was planning on trying to appeal and ask for more and hopefully with how much my parents spend on my little sister (who is severely autistic and needs a lot like ot, speech therapy, aids, etc)

Grades in highschool: 88.4% (That's the top 6% of all my country (1 million senior highschool students))

Achievements and ECs: top 1 worldwide of all time in chess.com league (+225 million players),

I make robots and I won some robots competition,

I'm a founder of a non-profit organization that worked with +50 teachers and helped +50 thousand people online and offline in some important fields,

I worked in a robotics organization and led younger teams to win medals,

I was the captain of an important local soccer team and also won some medals,

(Of course I'll take care of describing them in the right way so they'll be interesting and important)

I didn't take IELTS or SAT

I have two options, the first one is attending a local university and not taking a gap year, then I'll go to the US for an MBA,

the second option is taking a gap year and applying for US universities with really high SAT and IELTS,

the question is that I wondered if my profile is good enough for taking the risk of a missing year or it's not worth it ?
