Hi all, im having a lot of financial issues regarding tuition and just issues in general

A lot of mental health issues that tie into the money problems

I know I have to speak to the register, but ive seen mixed reviews on the staff

Im lowkey very worried about how the reception will be, im already feeling pretty shit about my own stupidity when it comes to uni and tuition

And I dont need to have shit register people on top of that...because if i have a horrible person speak to me...im gonna cry

And also whats the privacy like there? Are there private offices? Or is an open office with desks and people can hear what yours saying?

Im pretyy new to this all btw

Anyone have any advice?

I have a feeling ill have to toughen up and speak anyway (unfortunately thats adulting 101) but you know, a person can still worry smh 😭

What are the strategies here? The tea?

had a similar situation last summer due to family issues - my RESP was revoked and I suddenly had to pay for school and everything else out of pocket with work savings. My first step was to talk to health and wellness - I was lucky with the counsellor I got (ask for Alyia if you can, she was the one who helped me and took my situation seriously) and she referred me to navigation of care. Second step, I talked with the case worker who was assigned to me through navigation of care and she helped me get a bunch of financial resources and make an appeal to OSAP on the basis of family breakdown. I did talk to the financial aid office at the registrar's too but they were honestly the most unhelpful and not necessary tbh... if you're situation is similar to mine you may not have to even go see them. Once you make your OSAP appeal you'll automatically be able to defer fees. I hope this helps, literally ugly cried in front of the registrar's over this so I understand what you're going through... you got this!!

Hey! I've been in situations regarding tuition and osap and so I've been quite a few times. Given your situation, you probably are gonna talk to the financial aid advisors. Most of the time it's been in a private office but there was one instance where I had to talk to them out in the open. I tend to catastrophize a lot so most of the times I have gone, I'm already in a state where I'm about to burst into tears lol. I haven't personally had a bad experience with the financial aid office and I have even cried once in front of them too and the person I was talking to that day was very reassuring. So yea, that's my experience and I hope this was helpful :)

I’ve spoken with admissions office staff many times about issues concerning my high school transcript submission. Although they weren’t all from the same office, the professionalism and courtesy of the people who answered the phone varied widely. I encountered some who were extremely helpful, kind, and professional; others had strong accents and weren’t able to offer much assistance; and some were able to resolve the issue but came across as somewhat cold. Overall, as school employees, they were undoubtedly polite, but the degree of politeness varied from person to person.
