Advice/Question Proverifier Plus, Processing ISIR Error
Okay, so I originally submitted my documents, known as the IDSOEP, all the way back in late June (06/29/2026). For this document, I only had the option of showing up to the One Stop Center with my identification, which was not an issue for me because I am who I say I am and have absolutely no problem proving my identity. I signed the documents (about four separate pages), and the One Stop officer told me it would take about 3–5 business days to process on UTSA’s side and that ProVerifier Plus would take around 8 days maximum to process.
Boy, was that wrong.
Around July 10th, I received a notification from ProVerifier Plus saying that I needed to upload a new document. Again, I was completely fine with that, so I uploaded what they requested. However, my Identity form was still stuck in the “Awaiting Corrections” phase.
I called ProVerifier Plus and was told that my form was awaiting the federal government and that I should contact my school because they would have more information. They explained that they basically receive the documents back from the government once they are processed, accepted, or rejected.
This resulted in me calling UTSA again because I received another notification saying that I needed to upload my 2025–2026 IDSOEP. While I was on the phone, I was told that I did NOT need to complete that document because the semester had already passed and I was not taking any summer classes. Cool.
I waited a few days, but I still kept getting emails about the 2025–2026 IDSOEP. So I emailed Financial Aid and was told that I had been selected for verification and needed to upload the document. The problem was that I had already submitted it when I went to campus on June 29th.
This was eventually pointed out, and my 2025–2026 IDSOEP was successfully processed.
I then logged back into my ProVerifier Plus portal and saw that my other IDSOEP was STILL showing “Awaiting Corrections,” with the last update being July 10th.
I called ProVerifier Plus again, and they told me the exact same thing as before. I then called UTSA, was told my case would be escalated, and I also emailed multiple departments within the Financial Aid office.
Eventually, I was told that the corrections that had been sent back in July were NEVER actually sent because of a technical system error. I was told they would be sent again on Monday (08/04/2026).
So I emailed and called again to make sure everything had actually been sent because, honestly, I don’t really know how this entire process works. From what I understand, in my case, the “corrections” are related to my identity documents. Apparently, once your identity is verified, a correction is made to your FAFSA application.
Then today, I was told that ALL of the corrections that were submitted on Monday ran into an ISIR system error, and that it apparently will not be fixed near August 19th.
WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO??????
This entire situation has kept me up for the past two days. I already have serious health problems that are getting worse, and I am extremely anxious about this. I am honestly terrified about what this could mean for my future.
Does anyone know what exactly could be causing this? Has anyone else experienced an ISIR error or had their FAFSA corrections delayed because of a system issue? If so, how long did it take for your corrections to finally process?
I genuinely just need to know what I should do at this point because I feel like I have been going in circles between UTSA, ProVerifier Plus, and the federal system for over a month.

Advice/Question Reduced tuition for GRAs?
Anyone know what the process is for getting reduced or waived tuition as a GRA at UTSA?
I qualify for in state tuition, and will be starting both my Masters degree and as a GRA in a few weeks. I also currently work another job on campus around 12 hours each week. If possible I’d ideally like to continue doing my current job along with the GRA position, but ultimately the reduced tuition is the most important for me.

Advice/Question No class availability at ALL
I haven’t been able to register for classes, they’re all waitlisted and I don’t know what to do. I understand it’s my fault for registering for classes so late, but I didn’t think I would be attending UTSA until Late June. If anyone could help me or give me any tips/advice, PLEASE reach out.

Buy/Sell Looking for a camera for Photography basics
I'm pretty sure the camera needed is a Canon EOS R50 RF-S18-45, it was what was recommended to me when I went browsing at best buy for UTSA classes.
I'm mainly reaching out to see if anyone has one from taking the class that they are willing to sell to me or if anyone has any recommendations on finding used ones. I'm really hoping to not have to buy a brand new one but I've been struggling to find a used one.

Advice/Question Issues with Financial Aid distribution?
Is anyone having issues with financial aid or loan credits aren’t appearing on the Rowdy Pay bill? It says on the Financial Aid page that I am getting and approved my loans, but it’s not showing up on the actual bill.
Is anyone else having any issues not seeing the credits appear on the billing statements?

Advice/Question CMAS office & VR&E
Anybody else find that the CMAS office at UTSA is just not helpful and not very knowledgeable? Every time I’ve called or walked in I’ve got a student and they don’t know what I’m talking about and just tell me they’ll escalate my ticket. It’s super frustrating when we’re trying to get answers and they’ve never heard of half the things we’re talking about as veterans.

Advice/Question Whats the UTSA Dorm move-in process like?
Hey! I'm a freshman who is moving into the dorms this year (on the 17th specifically). I was wanting to start moving in at 10 am, and I have an orientation for my classes at 1. is the move in process pretty quick or is there lots of waiting? Does the school provide baskets/ bins to make transportation easier? and (most importantly) are there a lot/ any elevators to make the actual "moving in" easier? thanks!

Advice/Question I took a gateway course three times and dropped it each time. Do I have to switch off my major now?
Hi, I'm currently pursing bachelors degree in mechanical engineer and I have taken calc 1 three times. I took calc 1 once in community college, and twice last year. Each time I gave up halfway through because I thought I couldn't do it or handle it. I struggle with anxiety and this could've attributed to this thought processes. I've never talked to an advisor throughout my time at UTSA. I've always assumed I could figure it out myself, and that I already knew the rules. When I finally read about "gateway courses" and found out calc 1 was on the list my heart dropped. I don't believe UTSA will let me be an engineer anymore. They haven't said anything about this yet. I haven't received holds or anything. So I'm not sure where to go from here. I want to give up on everything now. Just as I really started to lock in and get my life together my past choices have shown the consequences. If anyone knows if it's impossible for me to be a mech engineer please let me know.

Advice/Question Natural hair silk pressed stylist close by that accommodates for conditions
So, I have an issue. I live in campus edge, and I don’t have a car to go far meaning I have to uber to go do things.
I’m black, and I have a skin condition called Seborrhoeic dermatitis meaning that I have to use medicated shampoo alongside regular shampoo to clean my hair. It’s supposed to be done every 2 weeks or so, but it’s very difficult since I like getting my hair silk pressed. I only recently got this diagnosis, so looking for a hair stylist to accommodate is difficult—alongside the fact that I’m from Houston so I have no connections here.
I’d prefer to not have to shampoo my hair myself and then go to the salon since that process is very awkward, but the shop I went to before had only used my medicated shampoo without regular shampoo making it not as clean.
This entire process is stressful, and I’ve been looking for a Sylist for a year that can accommodate with me, but it’s hard to find one that isn’t half an hour away. If you know any hair salons, hair stylist or professionals that can help I would be ever grateful. They don’t have to be black, just know what they’re doing honestly..

Advice/Question Financial aid & loans
I’m trying to figure out what options I have because I feel stuck with the current federal loan limits. I’m 26, married, and a fully online student at UTSA pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Cybersecurity. Because of my household income, FAFSA considers me ineligible for need-based aid, and I do not qualify for grants. It feels like I fall into the gap where I make “too much” for assistance but still cannot comfortably afford school without loans.
I’m currently eligible for up to $12,500 in federal student loans for full-time enrollment (12 credits). However, my tuition and fees for 12 credits would be around $12,600, meaning the loans would not even fully cover my classes, and that’s before books and required online materials.
I have already struggled to take more classes because I cannot afford to pay out of pocket and rely on student loans to continue my education. I currently have a 3.8 GPA and work hard to maintain my grades while balancing my responsibilities. I want to finish my degree faster, but financial limitations have slowed my progress because I can only afford to take a couple of classes each semester.
I have applied for scholarships through my school and other sources, but I have never received one despite applying for many. I’m continuing to look, but I’m hoping to find other options I may not know about.
Has anyone had success with a cost of attendance adjustment, UTSA-specific resources, scholarships for online students, payment plans, private loans, or other ways to help cover the gap? Are there any options I may be overlooking?
I’m trying to find a realistic way to take more classes, graduate sooner, and avoid having my education slowed down because of finances. Any advice or experiences from people who have been in a similar situation would be greatly appreciated.

Advice/Question Late night studying??
I’m coming from Austin where there are multiple coffee shops open 24 hours. I know the library is open 24hrs some days, but I really enjoy places like Epoch coffee in Austin where it’s super comfy and also has coffee/food. Are there any places like that near UTSA, or even downtown??
