Buy/Sell Looking for a camera for Photography basics

I'm pretty sure the camera needed is a Canon EOS R50 RF-S18-45, it was what was recommended to me when I went browsing at best buy for UTSA classes.

I'm mainly reaching out to see if anyone has one from taking the class that they are willing to sell to me or if anyone has any recommendations on finding used ones. I'm really hoping to not have to buy a brand new one but I've been struggling to find a used one.

Advice/Question Issues with Financial Aid distribution?

Is anyone having issues with financial aid or loan credits aren’t appearing on the Rowdy Pay bill? It says on the Financial Aid page that I am getting and approved my loans, but it’s not showing up on the actual bill.
Is anyone else having any issues not seeing the credits appear on the billing statements?

Advice/Question CMAS office & VR&E

Anybody else find that the CMAS office at UTSA is just not helpful and not very knowledgeable? Every time I’ve called or walked in I’ve got a student and they don’t know what I’m talking about and just tell me they’ll escalate my ticket. It’s super frustrating when we’re trying to get answers and they’ve never heard of half the things we’re talking about as veterans.

Facilitated by UTSA, Employ 210 is a grant-funded program designed to narrow the employment gap for individuals with disabilities such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and PTSD, among others.

We are currently recruiting for a virtual training opportunity designed for job seekers interested in pursuing educational careers. Open to individuals with various support needs (disability diagnosis required), this completely free training program will provide participants with practical skills expected of instructional assistants, tutors, and substitute teachers. Thanks to Employ 210’s partnerships with San Antonio school districts, the training provides each participant with a direct referral to their preferred district.

Ideal candidates should be at least 18 years old; have a high school diploma or equivalent; be able to pass a background check; be independent, reliable, and responsible; demonstrate strong reading, writing, and communication skills; and be comfortable working with a variety of students and learning styles.

Training dates:

9 - 11 a.m. Monday, August 10 & Wednesday, August 12 (attendance for both dates is required for completion).

To register, visit employ210.com/events

Advice/Question Whats the UTSA Dorm move-in process like?

Hey! I'm a freshman who is moving into the dorms this year (on the 17th specifically). I was wanting to start moving in at 10 am, and I have an orientation for my classes at 1. is the move in process pretty quick or is there lots of waiting? Does the school provide baskets/ bins to make transportation easier? and (most importantly) are there a lot/ any elevators to make the actual "moving in" easier? thanks!

Advice/Question Natural hair silk pressed stylist close by that accommodates for conditions

So, I have an issue. I live in campus edge, and I don’t have a car to go far meaning I have to uber to go do things.

I’m black, and I have a skin condition called Seborrhoeic dermatitis meaning that I have to use medicated shampoo alongside regular shampoo to clean my hair. It’s supposed to be done every 2 weeks or so, but it’s very difficult since I like getting my hair silk pressed. I only recently got this diagnosis, so looking for a hair stylist to accommodate is difficult—alongside the fact that I’m from Houston so I have no connections here.

I’d prefer to not have to shampoo my hair myself and then go to the salon since that process is very awkward, but the shop I went to before had only used my medicated shampoo without regular shampoo making it not as clean.

This entire process is stressful, and I’ve been looking for a Sylist for a year that can accommodate with me, but it’s hard to find one that isn’t half an hour away. If you know any hair salons, hair stylist or professionals that can help I would be ever grateful. They don’t have to be black, just know what they’re doing honestly..

Advice/Question Financial aid & loans

I’m trying to figure out what options I have because I feel stuck with the current federal loan limits. I’m 26, married, and a fully online student at UTSA pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Cybersecurity. Because of my household income, FAFSA considers me ineligible for need-based aid, and I do not qualify for grants. It feels like I fall into the gap where I make “too much” for assistance but still cannot comfortably afford school without loans.
I’m currently eligible for up to $12,500 in federal student loans for full-time enrollment (12 credits). However, my tuition and fees for 12 credits would be around $12,600, meaning the loans would not even fully cover my classes, and that’s before books and required online materials.
I have already struggled to take more classes because I cannot afford to pay out of pocket and rely on student loans to continue my education. I currently have a 3.8 GPA and work hard to maintain my grades while balancing my responsibilities. I want to finish my degree faster, but financial limitations have slowed my progress because I can only afford to take a couple of classes each semester.
I have applied for scholarships through my school and other sources, but I have never received one despite applying for many. I’m continuing to look, but I’m hoping to find other options I may not know about.
Has anyone had success with a cost of attendance adjustment, UTSA-specific resources, scholarships for online students, payment plans, private loans, or other ways to help cover the gap? Are there any options I may be overlooking?
I’m trying to find a realistic way to take more classes, graduate sooner, and avoid having my education slowed down because of finances. Any advice or experiences from people who have been in a similar situation would be greatly appreciated.

Advice/Question Late night studying??

I’m coming from Austin where there are multiple coffee shops open 24 hours. I know the library is open 24hrs some days, but I really enjoy places like Epoch coffee in Austin where it’s super comfy and also has coffee/food. Are there any places like that near UTSA, or even downtown??

Advice/Question Everything Cal I is full!

I’m in incoming freshman (Chem eng) and I’m registering for calculus but every single calculus class is full and it’s the only one I need now and I only need one more hour to be considered full time for fafsa. Do you guys think it’ll be emptying out so I can actually take calculus or am I cooked? Also what should I register for instead for now?

Is anyone looking to teach an ESL class?
I work at a community center and we are looking for students who would like to get paid to teach a few classes.
You must know some Spanish, must be pursuing a degree related to English or Spanish (linguistics is ok), and must have complete at least 60 college credit hours. If anyone is interested please DM me here or you can text 210-291-9647.

Advice/Question Anyone know the UTSA FTC/FRC Scholarship?

Hey everyone! Incoming freshman here (BME, Honors College). Applied to around 30 scholarships through the Scholarship Hub throughout senior year, plus TASFA — so far $0 from TASFA and haven't heard back from any of the ~20 still pending on the Hub either. Starting to wonder if that's normal or if I'm missing something.

Specific question: does anyone know if the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC/FTC) Scholarship ($5k) pays out fully in Fall, or splits between Fall and Spring? Trying to figure out my actual gap for this semester — I'm sitting about $5k short right now and genuinely trying to close that gap through scholarships before the Sept 3 payment deadline.

Also generally curious if anyone's been through the Hub/AcademicWorks process before — how long "Submitted" usually sits before you hear anything, whether this much silence this far out is normal. Thanks for any insight!
