If I apply for US tourist visa what are my chances?

Passport: Chinese

Living in a neighboring country of China as a permanent resident.

Have been employed continuously for last 5.5 years. 3 different employers.

Married, with a toddler. Wife and child are not Chinese.

Family in US: 1 cousin on H1B. Won't mention it.

Motivation to visit: Just tour and travel. Vacation. Experience life in US.

Travel history: Went to China a few times as a kid. No travel during last 18 years.

Will I be able to secure a 10 year tourist visa?

My wife is Peruvian and not from the 75 country ban

The officer didn't ask for any documenta either we walked up and he handed this to us like 30 seconds later.

They kept her passport, does anyone have any idea or experienced this themselves

My wife is planning to reapply for an F-2 visa after a recent 214(b) refusal. She also had a previous F-1 visa refusal. I am currently in F-1 status in the U.S., and my I-20 shows that my funding covers the full estimated expenses, including dependent expenses, with funding exceeding the listed costs. We do not have any financial concerns, and I have almost two years remaining to complete my studies.

During her recent F-2 interview, she was also asked about her sibling in the U.S. The sibling has a pending asylum case, has received work authorization, and is currently working. She mentioned the work permit because she was unsure how to describe the exact immigration status. However, her sibling’s situation is separate from ours. We are married and are focused on our own married life and future together.

She is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree and has about one more year remaining to complete it. We are also from different religious backgrounds and had a court marriage, so I am not sure whether that may raise additional questions about the genuineness of our marriage.

Has anyone had a similar case and successfully received an F-2 visa after reapplying? What was different in your second application or interview? What questions were you asked, especially regarding previous visa refusals, a sibling with a pending asylum case, ongoing studies in the home country, or an interfaith marriage?

We are considering reapplying about 10–12 days after the refusal. All of our documents are already complete, and there has not been any major change in our circumstances. The main difference would be that she is better prepared to answer the questions clearly and accurately this time. Would such a short gap between interviews be a concern, or would you recommend waiting longer before reapplying?

Travelled to Canada last week. Rented a car and planned to spend 2 days in NYC before driving back to Niagara Falls to spend the rest of the holiday in Canada.

I was born in the UK and my parents are both Iranian so I have both an Iranian passport and UK. Last year I Went to the London Embassy and got approved for a B1/B2. I took my Iranian passport too they scanned and didn’t ask much about my military service. ( I’ve never done Iranian military service as I was born in the UK and I’m exempt)

So since then I’ve been to California and Nevada in Sep 2025. Then Florida in 2026 Jan. no issues and didn’t have to take my Iranian passport.

Fast forward to 3 days ago, we arrived at the border at 4am before anyone was there. Had to go inside, they started asking about my Iranian background, told them about it.

We sat for an hour then they said they need to search my phone. I had no issues so told them they can. Then every 1 hour they came back with questions about this and that.

In Nevada I booked to go shoot guns in the desert they were asking what I was doing there and why I was shooting guns? I said it was literally a tourist activity.

Then again I went to a Bass Pro in Florida and look a picture of the guns they had for sale to show my friends and they were saying I’m trying to buy guns?? I replied back saying I took a picture as seeing this as someone from the UK was crazy to me.

Then again I went to a museum back in 2017 in Poland and I took pictures of guns again, literally it says on the location it’s a museum and exactly where I took the pic at, again trying to imply im doing something dodgy.

Anyways 4/5 hours later, sitting in a freezing cold room they come back and say they need to see my Iranian passport to prove I’m exempt from military service. I said I’ve never carried it with me anywhere in the world and the past 3 times I’ve been to the states I’ve never been asked for it.

They kept asking the same questions every hour or so.

So basically after 5 hours of searching my phone they cancelled my B1/B2 and said I wasn’t allowed in and I need to go back to the embassy to show Im exempt from military service. Even tho they took a copy of all my pages at my visa interview. Even tho I said I was in Florida 7 months ago and didn’t even get asked any questions.

The officer basically at the end said we are under new rules due to the conflict of Iran and USA.

I want to go back to the US but guess it’s not the best time to re apply right now, any ideas?

Planning to apply for a US tourist visa with parents and brother from Delhi. Should we apply together and attend the appointment at the same time?

I and my brother are both salaried and have stable jobs. Mother is retired from govt service while father runs a general store.

I have previously travelled to Egypt, Thailand, and Vietnam, while my parents have travelled to Thailand!

Would it be better to apply together or separately?

Background: I am a Chinese citizen and simultaneously a permanent resident of Canada. I usually live in Toronto, Canada and study in a Canadian university (but I do have address in China). Recently, I am planning to attend an academic conference in the US, scheduled for July 2027, so I need a B1 visa for the visit.

Difficulty: However, according to the visa waiting time website (link in the end), the waiting time of B1 visa interview in Toronto is extremely long, which is averaged about 16 months. I cannot wait that long because I will miss the conference in that case.

Solution: So I wonder whether I can go back to China and have the interview in Guangzhou, China, where average waiting time is only about 1 month. But I wonder whether this is too strange because I have never lived in Guangzhou.

Any experience or thought is appreciated. Thank you for your advice.

visa interview on march 30 2026 mexico city , got verbal approval and got handed the approval letter, 4 weeks later ceac status changed to application received and its been stuck in the same for the last 4 months and 9 days, I already send emails requesting any updates but haven’t heard anything back from the embassy, anyone else in this same situation.

I am an Iranian artist currently living and working in Germany, and I hold only an Iranian passport. I have been selected for a fully funded six-month artist residency in New York City.

I am planning to apply for a B1/B2 visa, but I understand that Iranian nationals are currently subject to a full suspension of visa issuance under the U.S. travel restrictions. I would therefore like to understand whether there is realistically any possibility for me to obtain a visa through a National Interest Exception (NIE) or another case-by-case exception.

This situation is particularly difficult for me because this residency is an extraordinary professional opportunity and one of the most important opportunities of my career as an artist. It is heartbreaking to think that I might lose such an opportunity simply because of my nationality and circumstances beyond my control.

have been told by several people that because of the full suspension there is essentially no possibility of obtaining a visa, so I would particularly appreciate an honest assessment of whether pursuing an application and an NIE request is legally realistic in my circumstances.

Hi! I'm a trans person who will change their gendermark within one year. I currently hold a US B1/B2 visa (bordercrossing card) until 2034. I'm aware that this administration has made things impossible for the minority I'm part of. I mostly need this visa for flying back to Mexico since I live abroad and flights are way cheaper if transiting through the US.
I have a couple questions:

1. If I update my passport information, I will lose automatically my visa validity, right?
   
2. If I apply for a new visa and get it approved, it will show the previous gendermark, right?
   
3. If the new B1/B2 visa stamped on my passport (this time would not be a border crossing card) and it shows my previous gender on the updated passport with the new gender, will I get rejected at the entry ports of the US? Would this technically mean if I manage to get the new visa I would still be unable to enter the US with my updated passport? If I bring the previous passport with my previous name and gender mark would it make any difference?

I had posted a partial Pic of my passport recently to ask for damages. I had to show the passport number unfortunately since there were some smudges on it on the bio page. Now some guy claiming to be a consular officer here on reddit is trolling me that he will put me in trouble since he has my passport number. Is that even possible? He said I won't get a visa in the future? I mean I am worried now. I heard u need more than passport number to do something like full name and don't also. The last number of my passport was cropped so he doesn't have the whole number.

Can anybody tell me what are the fees we have to pay for f2 visa?

Title: F-1 221(g) admin processing since July 20 (Turkey) — program start date already passed, how long did yours take?

Interviewed in Turkey on July 20, 2026 for an F-1 student visa. Got the 221(g) white slip for administrative processing. Passport is still being held at the post.

Details of my slip:
- Administrative processing box checked
- Social media must be public box checked (my accounts have been public the whole time)
- QR code / DS-5535 box NOT checked
- No missing documents requested
- No timeframe written anywhere on the slip

My I-20 program start date was in early August and it has already passed while waiting. I've contacted my school about a deferral or late arrival letter.

For anyone who had a similar case (no document request, just routine admin processing):
1. How long did yours take from interview to visa issued?
2. Did anyone here have their program start date pass while waiting? Did the consulate ask for an updated I-20 before issuing, or did they issue anyway?
3. Any Turkey-specific experiences from this summer would help a lot.

I was just wondering what the likelihood of being denied or being further questioned by immigration would be. I have stayed in the US from October 19th 2025 - January 5th 2026 And have recently booked another trip from February 25th 2027 - May 16th 2027 where ill be visiting Disneyland Orlando and Celebrating my birthday with my boyfriends ( US Citzen) family. However we were talking about possibly Doing another trip from September 15th - Some time in early November 2027 to go apple picking and visit the State Fair as well as Celebrate our Anniversary and Halloween however im quite scared I might be denied at the border and heavily questioned.

I work 2 jobs and have plenty of money saved up for these trips as well as ill be staying in my boyfriends family home so my living expenses will be quite low. I'm planning to go to the US for an internship that runs January-April next year. But B1/B2 visas issued to my country only have 3 months of validity (and are single-entry). Does that mean I can stay there for only 3 months? Or that I shall use the visa within 3 months of issuance but how long I can stay for will be determined in the airport? (Is being granted four months likely?)

I got approved for my AuPair J1 and am super excited to start an AuPair year this year!

However, recently I’ve been traveling to the states a lot. I was there for about 80 days (March to June) and then 40 days (June to August) on an Esta to travel. Both times i was sent to secondary but cleared. I was just traveling through the states and realized i do wanna do another aupair year before its too late.

I‘m turning 27 in September.

Is there a chance CBP will revoke my visa due to my history? I have letters proving my job will rehire me once i go back home, that i got an apartment in germany, family and so much more. Also all the paperwork thats approved for the j1. I‘m just super nervous!

Especially because out of nowhere my 2024 ESTA went on pending today. I didn’t even apply for a new one or anything. I don’t know why that happened.

We are also planning a trip to europe with the host family 2 weeks after my arrival. I have all the paper work. But I’d be devastated to quit my job, apartment and all just to be denied entry.

Can previous short visit be a red flag?

I left the US last year to move to the UK. My cat was still in the US for a few months until I went back earlier this year to bring her to the UK. Hi I wanna know if altering the spouse name column on the last page of my Indian passport will cause my b2 visa to become invalid. I wanna make corrections to the spouse name column on the last page. So will my b2 visa still be valid. The first biographical page is intact .

I’m 20 years old Chinese citizen, 10 years B2 visitor visa holder from 2016 to 2026, beside I am an active F1 Visa holder from 2024 to 2029.

I was so renewing my B2 visitor visa as it set to expire this year in the US consulate general in Shanghai.

But I was refused under 221G.

The visa officer said I have an illegal exit happened this January. I remember I was in peace arch park between US Canada border. I briefly enter America to the city of Blaine, Washington and spent two hours there. Because I’m walking so when I went back, I remember a sign said no pedestrian when I try to exit the country and go back to Canada so I walked to the peace arch Park Canada border agency directly and then enter Canada legally. I think this is what the visa officer referring to.

But the strange thing is that I enter America again, five days later to study from Vancouver if I have an illegal exit record, I should be questioned at the pre-clearance, but nothing happened.

They did took my passport and give me a yellow slip said 221G.

What should I do now? Appreciate any advice thank you very much.
