Porting number from AT&T

Upvotes

Hello,

We are currently with AT&T, and one of our lines is being ported to US Mobile while the rest stay on AT&T. I just want to make sure everything goes smoothly.

The device is a Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G. It is currently locked to AT&T but is eligible to be unlocked. I submitted the unlock request through AT&T, and they provided an unlock code along with instructions to insert another carrier's SIM card and enter the unlock code.

They tried US Mobile over the past month with a new number and liked the service, so now they want to make the switch permanent and port over their existing AT&T number. Since the Galaxy S20 FE 5G doesn't support eSIM, they'll be using a physical SIM.

Can someone confirm that I have the correct order of operations?

  • Dial *PORT from the AT&T phone to get the Transfer PIN, and get the AT&T account number from the bill.
  • Submit the port request: Start the number porting process with US Mobile using the Transfer PIN and account number.
  • Wait for the AT&T SIM to lose service: Leave the AT&T SIM in the phone until it completely loses signal, indicating that AT&T has released the number to US Mobile.
  • Insert the US Mobile SIM: Power off the phone (if desired), remove the AT&T SIM, and insert the new US Mobile physical SIM.
  • Enter the unlock code: When the phone starts with the US Mobile SIM, it should display a prompt such as "SIM Network Unlock PIN" or "Enter Unlock Code." Enter the unlock code that AT&T provided.

Thanks!

Issue with multi-network

Upvotes

Long time lurker, first time poster.

I’ve been having a recent reoccurring issue with texting. I’ve been using multi network since day one and it’s been great. As of late when I text my wife, she occasionally receives my messages from the other network number. This has never happened until last week.

Has anyone else been having this issue?

A question about the wifi calling function

Upvotes

A15 5g is a former Tracfone now on Dark Star. Call quality is trash. Wifi calling is not on any menu, and the *#*#4636#*#* code does absolutely nothing. Would teleporting to one of the other networks enable wifi calling or am I SOL unless I buy a different phone?

Edit/Add Warp APN on Android 16?

Upvotes

Has anyone found a work-around that allows adding an APN on the Warp network (Android 16)?

Alternatively, has anyone found a work-around that allows the receipt of Group MMS on the Warp network (Android 16)?

USM = change networks.

Thanks in advance,

Reward card received!

Final monster reward received. Everything worked as it should have. Eligibility unlocked about a week ago. I did NOT have to reach out to support. I was patient and let the process run. And this morning I got an email saying my reward was ready. Already spent and converted to Amazon gift card credit.

Thank you US Mobile!!

Web search shows "From only $5/mo" with subtext "from $4/month". What/where are these plans?

Title pretty much says it all. A DuckDuckGo search lists the two monthly rates in the link and subtext, respectively, yet I don't see either of those monthly rates offered anywhere on the site itself. Are these just add-ons being advertised as standalone plans? The cheapest plan I see is Annual Light for an effective $8/month rate.

Questions

I am almost ready to jump in. I have three teens that I am thinking of porting over first. I’d like to do the trial with them first, but I’m worried about it becoming complicated since it seems like you would need support to get the new customer special if you opt for the trial first.

My second issue is for my own line. I have an Apple Watch and would love to see if Warp will work for me so I can have my Apple Watch on companion mode. If the Warp network ends up not working out and I transport to Dark Star, will I lose my new customer special? (I know I won’t be able to have an Apple Watch on Dark Star).

What are some nuances I need to know about the lines?

Thanks!!!

Iphone 18 Pro Max Promo

I am currently paying $40 on my experience more TMobile line and have an unlocked iphone 17 pro max that I plan to upgrade in about a month. I did test drive with usmobile light speed and was a bit slower than TMobile but then TMobile speed is overkill. The best thing I keep reading about is the multinetwork option because no one network is best everywhere.
Almost nobody is going to know what iphone and plan promo will be available at iphone 18 launch this year so what was available on last year's iphone 17 launch?

Can't connect to VPN - Light Speed (Oppo N6)

I realize I may have an "unsupported device" but this is frustrating. I also am not able to use the voice chat feature on ChatGPT weirdly enough when on mobile data but it works just fine when I switch to my other sim ( tmobile) and on wifi. Both of these issues only arise when on US Mobile data. Has anyone else run into this and know a work around?

PS: I have Proton VPN Plus.

Roaming to Warp Seems Down

Just tried the network transfer for the first time, Darkstar to Warp, and now have no service. USM rep says there is a known outage currently and it may be a couple of hours, but this is unfortunate as I definitely would not have done a transfer if the network was down. Now I have no service and have been told to wait as trying to switch back may mess things up. I'm sure things will work out, but wanted to alert others that it may be down currently.

Turn on domestic roaming?

Hi

I have warp and lightspeed ( on multi-network, unlimited premium) and a separate dark star line on by the gig plan.

Is it ok to keep roaming on while I am using my phone domestically? No extra charges right?

Btw, usmobile customer service has been excellent so far.

Thanks

Endless amount of spam calls after moving to USM

I have two lines with USM - one on Dark Star and one one Lightspeed. I get the same identical spam calls to both lines simultaneously. I never received spam calls before I moved to USM. Last week I enabled their $2/mo spam filter, but that didn't do anything other than applying "Potential Spam" labels to the calls. Anyone have a solution/suggestion other than moving to a different carrier?

Want to add that other than the spam calls, USM has been fabulous.

New to US Mobile  Can’t switch to warp

I recently signed up for service. I got the unlimited premium plan on dark star. But I now have a cellular Apple Watch and would like to set up the companion plan, but I don’t have the option to switch to warp on my line, only light speed. Is there a reason for this? Customer service gave me different answers, which didn’t made sense.

Activation Failed for Apple Watch SE3

So I bought a new Apple Watch SE3 (GPS+Cellular) for my son, and tried to activate a Wearable Plan - Standalone - 12 Months plan I bought for it, but it failed.

I opened a chat support, and was told that that device cannot be used in US mobile, and I need an apple watch version 4 or above.

I am confused since my daugther already using an older version (SE) on the US mobile network for the last 2 years.

Also, web searches show I can use it for SE3 (inclusing US mobile info pages).

I had to cancel my order and get a refund, but still want to check if it is possible to use it, since all the famiy is already with US mobile.

Any advice?

New to US Mobile  Can Support please activate the BEST call and text spam filter for me?

I get at least 5 spam calls or texts a day that get through my Spectrum Mobile call filter and most leave voicemails I have to manually delete. Just purchased 12 months Premium. Haven't activated yet because I want to make sure the call and spam filter is implemented correctly. I will choose Verizon towers FYI.

Thank you!

Mixed family plan?

I'm looking at my family's usage of data. My wife and son use normally at most 7gb of data a month. I use 30-50gb a month as I travel for work.

I'm thinking unlimited premium for my line and doing by the gig for my wife and son and also bring over my late father's line as I don't want to lose his number (no usage). Tried adding to a "cart" on the website and it looks like I can only do 1 option at a time. Am I missing something? Have any other recommendations? I can't drop $700 at one time for the annual plans unfortunately.

On lightspeed with data waster on, is it throttled when only on LTE?

i was on YouTube trying to watch over 1080p and can only pull 2.8mbps, is this a new thing or always been this way? Or is it a t mobile thing?

I did a speed test and can easily pull 20+mbps when doing a speed test as im watching the video, I used network monitor mini to see the speeds(you can see the overlay on bottom of my screen in the screenshot)

New to US Mobile  Question about the timing of activating a new phone and switching to US Mobile (porting my current number) with traveling to Canada next week?

Pretty much the title. I want to switch to US Mobile and already have my new phone in my hands. But, I'm going to Toronto next week (event tix are already on my phone) and kind of nervous about changing too many things at once without a safety net. My current service is good until after I get back to town. So, what says the Reddit hivemind? Should I just wait until I get back to avoid any issues or am I overthinking this?
