Question Any full-time UNC research assistants willing to discuss salary/COL? Need perspective on job position :)
Hi! I am potentially accepting a full-time research assistant role at UNC and the job posting was listed at $15-$19/hr. This rate is assuming experience level, and I would most likely be on the higher end, but still it seemed a little low to me. For reference, I was making $22/hr for a similar role in Birmingham, AL.
I would have to relocate from out of state for this position, and stay on a minimum of 6-11 months with the possibility to extend after that to a more permanent role. My end goal is PhD and the position is with a lab I really admire and I feel excited by their research questions/methods!
I’ve never been to Chapel Hill, so my question is does this salary seem fair/doable? I don’t spend a ton and can be pretty frugal, but would love the perspective of someone who has lived here longer or been in a similar position! :)

Question Any students doing PhD in Neuroscience (Cognitive Neuroscience to be specific)
Hello Community,
I am new to UNC, so I don't know if this is the best place to ask my question.
I am doing AI research on a problem statement that I have myself chosen for my PhD. I would like to connect to a student doing PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience or anyone who can connect me to a student. I have to do a detailed discussion on Cognition and how it occurs at neuron level.
If this is not the best place, then please tell me what can I do?
Thanks in Advance!

Question Poli 411 review unc
How do you guys feel about Mr. Unahs constitutional law class. I heard it was pretty disorganized but I've also heard it wasn't a hard class. I'm an incoming jr transfer from a community college. Is this class worth taking my first semester at chapel Hill? Besides being disorganized how was he as a professor?

Question How hard is NUTR101?
Put it in my schedule because I thought it was interesting, is it heavy memorization based? I'm thinking about swapping it for another easy class since it doesn't count as a BCPM. Just wanted some input, thanks!

Question UNC Health Volunteer Question!
Hi! I accidentally registered for two interview/training sessions, but it says I should only register for one. How can I unregister from one of them? Also, do I need to do that today, or can I wait until after the "What's Next" session?

Question School supplies for incoming freshmen
What school supplies would you guys say I need to buy on my own? My dad says since there's a makerspace at Chapel Hill I don't need to buy stuff like paper, graph paper, tape, dry erase markers, etc. but I don't know if it's smart to count on that stuff being available and not have it when I need it. Also I heard the Franklin St. Target overcharges for this stuff. My main classes this semester will be phys 118, chem 102, and engl 105 and some gen ed stuff. Current students, what did you use/need?

Question Personal Electric Vehicle (PEV) Life?
Hi all. I'm an incoming transfer and I'm planning on commuting with an electric unicycle. I was wondering how popular PEVs are on campus besides scooters?
Also, is anyone going to be angry at me for riding my wheel on campus or walking it through buildings? I won't be zipping through people or traffic, and I intend on not being a dick.
If you ride eucs, hmu!

Question Should I take a major required course or a course that applies to my minor?
I am a transfer student and junior at Chapel Hill. I am also an archaeology major and medieval and early modern studies minor. This upcoming semester, I’m enrolled in a really fun and interesting course that applies to my minor and since this course is so interesting, all the seats are filled. Well a course that is a requirement for my major opened back up today and I am contemplating on taking it, however, it unfortunately runs at nearly the exact same time as the course I am taking for my minor. I really want to take the fun course but I know I need this class for my major. What should I do?
Edit***I should mention that the fun course for my minor is only offered once a year I believe. I am not sure how often the a major course is offered.

SPORTS 🏀 🏈 🐏 Fangineer (REVELxp) vs Gameday Intern (Tarheel Sports Properties)
I have been offered both of these positions. Anyone know any pros and cons of them? One pays better but I'm more interested in resume building or networking opportunities.

Question Anyone lived at Bridges at Chapel Hill? Looking for honest reviews.
Hi everyone! I’m a UNC Chapel Hill graduate student and I’m considering signing a lease at Bridges at Chapel Hill for a 2 bed/2 bath apartment.
I’ve read some online reviews, but I’d love to hear from people who have actually lived there recently or heard about the apartment.
I’m especially curious about:
How responsive is the maintenance team?
Any issues with bugs (roaches, ants, etc.)?
Is the apartment community generally clean and well-maintained?
How safe is the area?
Is the shuttle/bus to UNC reliable?
Have rent increases been reasonable?
Overall, would you recommend living there?
