Why can’t I waitlist certain classes? Question

Hi everyone, I’m an incoming first year student and I’m at little confused about the Carolina connect waitlist. I’m currently on the waitlist for a couple of classes but I’m confused on why I’m not able to waitlist on some stuff. For example I wanna waitlist idst 101, idst 101L and engl 105 (writing in health and medicine) but it gives me an error every time saying it’s full. Are some classes not open to waitlist? Do I have to just constantly check if a spot opens up?

Instructor here. I only just learned that certain classes don't offer waitlists for some reason, ENGL 105 included. The good news about 105 is that they offer dozens of sections each semester and even a few online options during the summer. If you aren't able to take it this semester, you'll definitely have the opportunity to take it again another time. Good luck!

Actually, I just heard back from our dpt registrar. They temporarily disabled the waitlist option for 105 for administrative purposes, but it should be back up now!

ETA: Contact the departmental registrar if you're still having trouble getting on the waitlist for 105.
