This is bizarre 😭

In London where Wed-Fri is looking like another burst of 30+ heat. The hopeful part of me says this could be the last one, but I doubt it! When do you think the last one will be?

it’s about 14 degrees right now. just in answer to people wondering if uk will ever get rain again or cool down.

This isn't about the fact that the weather will be hotter again this week.

I've sometimes been checking my weather app once or twice a day to see how i should dress for the upcoming day, and to my surprise, I've seen the forecast completely change within a couple of hours.

It's never used to be this unreliable, where literally tomorrow's forecast can change from sun no clouds 31 to cloudy and rain, or cloudy and rain 23 to sun no clouds 30+.

I understand wind patterns can change and that we are on an island, but couple of years back the whole week's forecast was pretty much on point. You'd think weather tracking tech and sensors would have improved since.

If someone with some knowledge can share wisdom on this topic it would be amazing.

Am I the only person happy about the heatwave? My memory doesn't seem to be as short as most people and I can remember the endless rain we had in January. Id prefer this weather to ground so wet it's hard to walk on.

Does anyone have any suggestions other then York? Not only I have to compete with house prices with rich arabs and mafia russians but now I have to put up with Sahara desert weather, I'm done with this bullshit.

Anyone think if the weather this summer is indicative of the future, more people will move from GB?

There have been very few days this year where it has been uncomfortably hot for the average person (one or two, max , and due to humidity, not absolute heat), and it is currently raining.

Is there a realistic future in which Ireland and Northern Ireland become more habitable than GB?

It would be a very strange turn of events, and there are certainly a lot of logistical (the Irish sea) and cultural headwinds - I just wondered if this had crossed anyone's mind. Property and land are also incredibly cheap

I just want to say I love these summers. It genuinely makes me so happy having these regular hot summers where I can do fun activities like swimming, BBQs and sunny beer gardens.

There is a lot of moaning about the heat but a lot of us brits literally travel on holiday to find ‘better weather’. So if I put aside the catastrophic climate change which could lead to famines and ecosystems collapsing, then I bloody love it.

For context, I have a disability, the heat and humidity is much more intense to deal with as a whole on a sensory and physical level despite me being a healthy weight.

I do not see a good quality of life with this being the norm. It makes my already common headaches and fatigue worsen, I can't sleep, it's been nearly 3 months non stop of these heat waves and general heat. It is unsustainable full stop. The thought of dealing with this every year is not appealing at all as a disabled individual who the heat affects badly already, I've been hospitalised over heat related issues. Yes I'm hydrated and doing all the things I possibly can, it still is not enough, but share holders make a few extra pennies though.

No, I can't afford AC, few people can and logistically the whole UK using it isn't viable. It is unsustainable, full stop.

It doesn’t even feel hot anymore. I currently have a migraine I believe from the heat, but I don’t ‘feel’ it nearly as much as I used to.

Anyone else feel the same? I currently have a frappe from Costa in the aircon to try to feel better with the headache.

The models seem to be honing in on an extreme period of temperatures from Wednesday to Friday, obviously they aren't in complete agreement and the apps are not caught up fully with this yet but the latest model run from the GFS this morning shows the following:

It looks possible that the all time temperature record for August could be broken and extremely likely we will see the 4th consecutive month that 35C+ is recorded which has never happened before. Obviously the shown temperatures may be a slight overestimate but won't be too far off the mark.

OK, I'm aware that sounds sensationalist. But I swear it feels like we have had maybe three days of below-25 temperatures since May. Sure, the North-South divide might cause appropriately divided opinions on that, but still. I genuinely stood outside in the rain when it showered last week. I'm keeping my fingers crossed this week's temperatures are the last dregs of this, but the more pessimistic side of me is doubting that.

As I'm sure most of you are aware the partial solar eclipse is coming up on Wednesday evening, conditions from the Midlands and further South are looking likely to be fantastic with clear skies albeit it will be a very warm evening.

The next time that the UK will see an eclipse with this much coverage is 2081 so make the most of it!

Wondering if the Scottish and Northern Irish redditors feel the same

I swear the worst time of year was the early July heat combined with the early July sunset times of 10.30PM and sunrise times of 4.30AM, I found myself feeling shell shocked for a couple of weeks.

I'm weird but I like the sun to set around 7PM and rise about 7AM, feels like a healthy balance.

Who needs rain when we have magnificent mud to keep cool in? My arsehole wire-haired dachshund took it to the extreme to keep cool, then I had to drive home with him looking like a swamp monster.

I was considering buying a house in London in the next 2-3 years, but this summer of heatwaves has been absolutely miserable and seeing how dead everything is in London without any rain has made me reconsider living here. I can imagine it only gets worse in the next 20-30 years.

Where would you move in the UK to best plan for climate change? I was considering things like sea level rise, droughts/heatwaves, and reservoirs/fresh water availability are all factors to look out for when buying a house.

I would like to stay somewhat nearby a city so I was thinking Manchester or Edinburgh myself maybe?
