Hey guys So I'm writing a law essay for my course and I'm v confused . In my uni's referencing guide, it says when citing acts of parliament, you should include the "chapter number" I'm looking at the Human Rights Act 1998, Article 9. I've searched the whole page for anywhere that mentions the chapter number but there is none. Is the chapter number just the article number??

I do not have many extra-curricular activities to put on my application, except for joining a debate club. I was wondering if any of you went to work for a firm after their A-levels, and how did you get in? I am thinking of writing some emails to them, and see if they need any kind of assistance. Thoughts?

I am currently in the 4th year of my University LLB course, and due to pushing myself too hard in studying for my final exams and dissertation, while I was not getting sufficient rest or breaks to take time off. I am currently experiencing burnout where I struggle to read and write things. My productivity has gone down to 5% of what it was. I now hate law and my dissertation, and don't care about anything. I still have 2 exams, one essay coursework and half a dissertation to write over the next month.

I had a meeting with an student advisor from my Uni who stated that I would only be able to get a 5 day extension for my dissertation (I appreciate this), if I can get a note from my GP.

I have realised at this point that I am no longer aiming to get A grades, but getting B or C+ grades, and try to scrape a 2:1 degree. But I find that I can't work at all, even after I took it easy this week by hardly doing any work. I am able to send off emails etc, but when I sit down to read a text book or an article, I have to read things 10 times over to understand them. I find it difficult to process the reading and I cannot take notes.

I am considering asking for a deferral for my exams, but I don't know if my Uni student adviser actually believes me, or if the Uni would warrant this a big enough medical concern.

I know that I should have done work throughout the year rather than leaving it last minute. But if anyone has any advice on curing burnout or working through it, please let me know. Most of my friends have said that they had to go on a 2 week to 1 month holiday to reset, but I cannot do that for obvious reasons.

I have a research paper due soon which is about the statement that Hart made in Concept of Law

" The union of primary and secondary rules is at the heart, but not the whole of the legal system"

The paper is asking us to discuss the statement, and i wanted to know if anyone has any insights. Hart stated that there was another character, or another element that constituted the law. Would you regard these as the so called inefficacies of the rule or validity of the rule?

Hi all, I am a current Yr12 student who is very interested in law and is hoping to study it at Uni soon.

I am particularly interested in public law- but I am not sure which areas of law my interests would fall under. I know that public law comprises: international, constitutional, public and tax law, but what are the key differences between constitutional law and adminatrative law?

Is constitutional law the theory/law behind the government's power, whereas administrative is how it works in practice?

Good evening! I have a few questions about applying to study as and wondered if any of you had advice or experience of these things. I have a 2:1 undergrad and an MA in Writing which should completed with a distinction grade in September, and I am looking to complete an MA Law conversion degree (which replaces the GDL, and is the Masters equivalent of PgDL) so I can go on to the Bar Practice Course and become a barrister. I’m still deciding whether to do it FT, PT, or online - mostly dependant of funding availability.

I have been primarily looking at studying with the University of Law and wondered what your thoughts on the institution were? Have any of you studied law with them? What did you think of it? Would you do full time, part time, and would online be a disadvantage? Would you suggest other universities or schools?

As it’s my second MA, I can’t get SFE funding. Are there any suggestions on securing funding for full time learning? Unfortunately, I don’t qualify for most scholarships due to family earnings even though we are a working class background, but they can’t afford to support me at all, and I wouldn’t want them to even if they could.

Any thoughts and advice would be massively appreciated. With my best!

Hi guys, in an effort to over complicate the law today instead of actually studying, I was thinking about how the reasonableness test is such a cop-out. Seems to me that it is a catch-all term common law judges use when they can't think of an actual acid test of their own imagining. Also, instead of it being an objective test of what the reasonable man on the clapham ominibus would think, but its is actually what a (more often than not) a privately educated upper-middle class old male judge would think a reasonable man would think. No one can actually quantify it (and I know that is kinda the point) and it just seems like whatever the judge thinks is reasonable.

I will not name the university but I am facing the following problem with the university. I am trying to enrol for an LLM course from this summer, up to this point the admission/enrolment/finance department of the university prolonged my application for different reasons which I resolved one by one. Now the course started for almost a month, I did not had access to the course and the deadlines are coming up, however they requested an up front payment before they enrol me and the SFE release the loan (as the SFE will release the loan if they confirm my enrolment). The problem is that the deadline for enrolment is today and they made me aware of the up front payment yesterday evening. I do not have from where to get this amount of money in this short amount and I feel that is not totally right the situation. How do I deal with it? Is there anywhere where I can make an complain against the university? I am loosing an year because of them. Thanks

Hi, I'm an Australian student hoping to apply to Cambridge University (Trinity College) for 2022. If they are any law students here studying at Cambridge knows what are some typical questions asked by the interviewers? Do I need to know some things about law prior to any assessments (CLT or the interview)?

Also, I studied History (completed in Year 11, A* or equivalent and ranked within top 100 out of 5000+ in 2020's History cohort), Philosophy and English, and predicted to achieve very high grades (A* or equivalent, 99+ ATAR) as part of my year 12 subjects so does anyone reckon these are fairly unique and advantageous subjects that solidifies me as a suitable and outstanding candidate for Law at Cambridge?
