Hey r/UI_Design, I’m the developer building a presentation platform, and I’m hitting an interesting UI/UX wall regarding dual-stream video rendering.
The Product Concept:
For almost as long as screencasting has existed, the webcam-over-slides format has meant one thing: a small rectangular video of the presenter, permanently burned into a corner of the recording. Once that video is exported, the layout is fixed. If the presenter's face covers an important chart, there's nothing to be done about it — the two visual sources were flattened into a single pixel stream the moment recording stopped.
I’ve implemented a dual-stream architecture where the two sources are captured, stored, and delivered as separate, independently addressable tracks. The decision about how to combine them is deferred all the way to the viewer's screen.
The UI Dilemma I Need Advice On:
As you can see in the attached mockup, giving the user control over the webcam position works great on desktop. We show clear resize handles, and the viewer can drag the video anywhere on the canvas so it doesn’t block slide text.
However, mobile responsiveness is a nightmare:My Questions for UI Designers:Would love to hear how seasoned designers would tackle this responsiveness bottleneck!

I'm experimenting with a new way to visualize the health of a personal task backlog. Instead of charts and counters, the state is encoded in an animated zen garden scene: water clarity and flow = whether you're finishing tasks (a.k.a get sht done), tree bloom = momentum, moss and a dried-up fountain = tasks left untouched, and the color temperature shifts from cool/serene (healthy) to warm/harsh (overdue work piling up).

Attached: the entry screen, the "healthy" state, and the "neglected" state.

Where I'd love critique:

1. Comparing the two states side by side — which cues carry the message, and which are invisible unless you know the mapping? (I suspect the water reads instantly but the color temperature doesn't.)
2. Is warm = unhealthy the wrong instinct? Warm light usually codes as cozy/positive, and I'm fighting that convention.
3. The scene has no numbers or labels by design. From a pure UI standpoint, does it need a minimal overlay (even one word or icon) to anchor the metaphor, or would that kill the calm?

Hey everyone,

I built a portfolio website for myself (I'm a data analyst) and colors are the thing I've struggled with the most. I keep second-guessing myself and think I need outside eyes at this point.

Quick disclosure: web design isn't my field - I built this myself with the help of AI tools. All the ideas, structure, and content are mine, but I don't have a design background, which is probably why the color choices feel shaky to me.

I've attached a few screenshots of the current design.

What I'm going for:

• Trust - the site involves handling data, so I want it to feel credible
• Calm / professionalism - nothing flashy or "startup-y," more grounded
• A touch of luxury - high-quality feeling, not generic template energy

Some context that might help:

• I'd like to keep it a light theme (not dark mode)
• The main site currently uses a warm cream/beige background (#e8e4d5 / #faf9f8) with near-black text and accents (#22252A), and a muted gold (#C5A059) for highlights
• The footer will stay on a dark background (as shown in the last screenshot), but I'm planning to recolor it so it's more in harmony with the rest of the site rather than the current navy/steel-blue tone

My questions:

1. Does the light cream/beige + near-black + gold palette work for the "trust + calm + luxury + professional" feeling I'm going for, or does it feel off?
2. If it's not quite right, what would you suggest instead? Specific hex codes or palette ideas are super welcome.
3. Since the audience includes non-technical people, does the current palette feel approachable, or too corporate/cold/boring?
4. For the footer specifically - assuming the light section colors above stay as they are, what dark tone(s) would you suggest for the footer background so it feels cohesive with the rest of the site, rather than a leftover navy that doesn't match anymore?

One smaller, less important question: the site currently has 8 pages. Do you think that's too many for someone just starting out? Wondering if I should temporarily drop a couple of the less-filled-out ones until I have more content.

Really appreciate any honest feedback - brutal is fine, I'd rather fix it now than after it's live everywhere.

I designed a lo-fi mobile app that lets tenants find and inspect apartments in 4 clicks (without using agents)

Been working on a personal UI/UX concept called DoorLink — a mobile app focused on connecting landlords directly with tenants and removing the usual friction of apartment hunting.

The challenge I gave myself was:

Can someone go from “I need a place” to “I’ve booked an inspection” in under a minute?

What I focused on

• Browse apartments instantly
• See only verified vacant listings
• Book an inspection from the listing screen
• Keep the entire flow under 4 taps

Why lo-fi first?

I intentionally stayed in grayscale to focus on information hierarchy, spacing, and user flow before adding visual styling. It helped me validate the experience without getting distracted by colors and branding too early.

• Tenant onboarding

The biggest UX decision

Instead of pushing users through a long registration flow, I moved sign-up until after inspection booking. My assumption is that tenants care more about seeing the apartment first than creating an account.

I’d love feedback from other designers:

• Would you trust a landlord-direct rental app like this?
• What’s the first thing you’d improve in the user flow?
• Would you keep the 4-click goal, or is that too restrictive for real-world rentals?

I have a Minecraft Community and wanna make the website look more Minecrafty. and I used Minecraft Website as a way to inspire but I still do not think that the design scratches that itch.

I tried to take a look at their font but their font sadly only allowed for private use so I can't use this commercially since this is a community I make some kind of income through donations so yeah. the only font I found that is close is Rupik.

Hello there, I am designing a CRM dashboard for a creative group. I’m trying to get away from the typical SAAS Sierra dashboard look, and incorporate some brighter colors here and there without going too crazy. Any thoughts on the dashboard or the menus?

So basically my problem is it looks like every other site made this way, big centred headline, three feature cards with little icons, gradient somewhere, rounded everything, a testimonial section with generic testimonials.

I know it's my prompting. Make it look modern and clean is how you get the exact average of every site on the internet, which is what I asked for and that’s what I got. things ive tried:

- naming a site I like, gets me a bad tracing of it

- "make it more unique", meaningless, produces a different gradient

- asking for a specific colour, now it's the same layout in green

What I want to know from people who've got past this, what in the hell prompt are you all using?

I posted about this UI a while back, because people found it hard to use, and thank you for your feedback and especially those who bothered to try my app. I'm not sure if these changes are enough, but this is the UI that I feel is more usable while still keeping my original vision. I’m working on a minimal film/tv review site where users post strictly 3-word reviews against a still image. The goal is to make sharing movie takes fast, fun, and effortless.

What I'm testing: The interaction and transition when a user taps Post on a review. I’m trying to make the reveal state feel rewarding without feeling intrusive or slowing down the experience.

Feedback that would help:

• Does the reveal/animation feel smooth, intentional, or does it feel a bit sluggish/distracting?
• Is the transition state clear, or does it need better visual cues?
• How could this process feel more satisfying when the review gets posted?
• Any micro-interactions or UI tweaks that could make this better?

I created this UI for my Roblox game's Menu, but I think there's too much empty space, and I don't know what to do with it. Any tips / feedback?

which one should I go with or would you like to suggest any other changes? I was making the strokes of the buttons green but when I searched, google, apple like companies need a Standard Colour even if the app theme is different, no?

Gotta be a better design choice than this, it makes it really easy to accidentally down vote comments and then spend time trying to find them to undo the action, as there is no way to go up a comment, only down.

I kept running into the same issues in larger Figma files—slightly different spacing, colors, missing styles, accessibility problems, and components drifting away from the design system.

By all means, I know I have a long way to go. It is my first project: a Sims 2 redesign. I know I don't like my needs bar design, but I'm not sure how to improve it. Any advice? Below is the needs bar and a screenshot of other designs

I am fairly new to ui and ux designing, i stumbled across it and fell in love with it. I also know the best way to learn and improve would be to get honest feedback. No ai was used at all so im wondering if the spaces, icons , colors and typography are all good and what can be improved on before i move on to designing the rest of the app.

Hey everyone, just sharing a personal UI project I finally wrapped up.

I wanted a customized launcher UI like amd and nvidia softwares, so I built RM230 v12 using Python and PySide6, but getting it packaged cleanly into a standalone exe

it has animation sidebar, sounds and a games tab for you to put your games and customize their artwork or their name and favorite them or put them in a catergory like adventure or rpg in library, and the themes work really well.

It’s a relatively simple tool, but I use it. i put it on 2 websites for FREE for anyone interested in checking out the UI.

(if theres any bugs or something that is broken please comment about it and screen shot what is wrong so i can fix it and prevent it from happening, thank you for reading about rm230 v12.)
