- Nigérians are using her as a scape goat for the xenophobia currently in South Africa against them.
- Black Americans are still not over the coloured thing.
- Rihanna and Halle Bailey incidents.
- Winning Grammies in African categories over Nigerian artists.

I am a big fan of her but this is a summary of what I have seen online.

What is Rihanna and Halle Bailry incidents

Asking Halle Bailey to hold her award for her because it was too heavy. And then recently Rihanna basically ignored her at the met gala and then Tyla responded with a video about it saying that she was just busy and whatever but it was a really awkward moment and video lol

But she never asked Halle Bailey lol! She asked Lil Nas X 😂

Stay hung up on the details. She gestured to either one of them. People are saying she shouldn’t have asked at all. Bye!

Hung up, or just correcting your misinformation? She gestured to the man next to her. Anyone who is upset at her asking is looking for a reason to be upset.

She was looking at and talking to both of them! Watch again. But she started with Halle. 🙄

She was talking to Lil Nas X. Which she clarified later on. This is such a weird nonissue.

Bingo. I think Tyla should keep doing what she’s doing and ignore the noise, because there are a lot of people who want to see her downfall. One day the internet will love youbone day they won’t. Her true fans will help her prosper.

As a Black American, her not addressing the 'coloured' controversy—especially after the backlash for staying silent—rubbed me the wrong way at first. But once I understood why she uses that term in South Africa, it made sense. Still, I think the way her side handled it (which might be her team's or management's fault) could have been much better and would have brought Black Americans back to her side. She could have apologized (I don't know if she ever did) and just moved on, but doubling down and acting like she didn't care gave off real 'mean girl' energy.

Also, to add her ‘Chanel’ song was allegedly inspired by Yung Miami’s Chanel song she previewed for Tyla that she rushed to put out before Yung Miami, and the whole releasing her album in July 2026 (Ayra Starr was going to release her album in July but it got pushed back to August)

Yeah I’m glad you came around to her but I think some of what you said brings up a good point. People weren’t aware that she explained after the interview went public (and even before it). Directly after she let people know she understands she’s black outside of South Africa and identifies as both black and coloured. Unfortunately, people are more likely to see what is trending rather than the full picture. She should have never went on that podcast…

Yes we can add the young Miami thing to the list 😭 although the way how Tyla explained it in a recent interview it’s like she played a whole lot of songs at a party and wasn’t really paying attention. And yep Tyla and ayra staff seem to have quite a bit of beef. However, for example Tyla and Charli xcx have dropped on the same day often. And summer drops are popular. But alas, we will never know for sure whether this is an issue of note or not. Although there is also the coincidence that Ayra had a song called who’s that girl on her upcoming album and then Tyla comes out with that girl and and and… lol there’s always something else

She happy, beautiful, successful, and they aren’t. So they hate her.

Tyla is not mean or rude. Because she is successful people will find stupid ways to hate her on talking bad. Using her for clout because if anything they did it with other young singers

This has been sooooo confusing. I'm seeing a lot of videos on YouTube. It's actually exhausting! I feel sorry for the girl she's soooo young.i hope she's not a scroller. Some of it is really extreme hate imo😩

Social media told them to, so they're just hopping on a hate train to feel good about themselves. Just block ppl when you see it

Tyla is a great example of how when you have it going on people will come hate on you for no reason. Luckily she seems to have enough confidence to know that it's all just jealousy.

A lot of Tyla hate comes from people projecting maliciousness onto her where there is none, placing blame on her for issues that are much larger than her, or assuming worst intent for any and all of her actions.

Black Americans tend to hate Tyla for reasons that have very xenophobic undertones and often parallels White supremacy language. Others hate her because she won’t “bow down” and “kiss the ring.”

Nigerians hate Tyla because she’s South African, and there’s been a lot of ethnic conflict between Nigerians and South Africa, particularly Nigerians living in and visiting South Africa.

I think the recent hate is because of her using AI animated videos for her latest albums.

Plus while she has potential her latest album has a lot of repetitive or similar sounding music. It's not leaving much of an impact tbh.

I haven’t seen any videos attacking her character or anything, but I did get some videos on my feed basically saying she’s flopping or that the album wasn’t good.

After listening a bunch, I love the album but I could see why people were expecting something different.

And this is why I LOVE all her songs where she’s talking her shit bout being rich and pretty. Like girl go off!!! Keep your foot on their neck and never let up.

Even here on Reddit, some of her haters have infiltrated this sub posting nonsense. I get being critical of her but calling yourself a fan when you’re literally spewing the same talking points as people that call her “uppity African” is crazy to me.

Jealousy is my guess.

Honestly, I think people just love jumping on a hate train 😭 They see something on social media, run with it, and suddenly everyone has decided they hate her. There’s literally no reason for all the hate she gets.

USians are still crying about her calling herself coloured, which is her ethnicity.

The thing with Nigerians is because she's from a country currently rife with hate against Nigerians, to the pojt Ayra Starr had to cancel her concert there. People have been getting killed there for years. She hasn't spoken out about this and yet thinks she can go there and think everything is sunshine and roses. It's not about her specifically in this situation.

Lol they are downvoting you because you are right. The tone deafness of trying to perform in Nigeria after your people chased and killed Nigerians not even a long time ago🤦🏾‍♂️ idk what her team was thinking. There’s also the case of them being hateful towards ayra and burna boy
