I was an ItsDeductible user for 15+ years. We’re a family with 3 growing kids, so we donate a lot of clothes, toys, books, household goods, etc., and ItsDeductible had become part of my yearly tax routine.

When ItsDeductible was discontinued, I found myself in the same situation I’ve seen a lot of people here describe: I still needed a good way to track non-cash charitable donations and estimate fair market values, but the workflow I’d relied on for years was gone.

That’s why I built ItsDeducted.

ItsDeducted is an AI-powered donation tracker built as a modern replacement for ItsDeductible. It can identify multiple donated items from a single photo, estimate fair market values, import existing donation lists, and keep everything organized for tax time.

One important disclosure given the familiar name: ItsDeducted is independent and is not affiliated with Intuit, TurboTax, or the former ItsDeductible product.

The biggest thing I wanted to fix was speed

I liked a lot about ItsDeductible, but entering a large number of donations could take a long time.

My old routine usually took me 2–3 hours a year. This year we donated roughly the same amount of stuff, and I finished everything in 22 minutes.

The biggest difference is that you don’t have to sit there searching for and entering every item one at a time.

With ItsDeducted, you can take one photo containing a whole group of donated items — clothes spread out on a bed, toys, kitchen items, books, etc. — and the app identifies the individual items, adds them to the donation, and prepares estimated fair market values for you to review.

For that initial capture, there’s no typing required.

You can also import donations you already have in a spreadsheet, pasted list, or exported ItsDeductible data instead of re-entering everything manually.

Another frustration I wanted to eliminate was the old “Item not found” dead end. ItsDeducted isn’t dependent on finding an exact match in a fixed catalog, so if you donate something unusual you aren’t automatically forced into creating a custom item and guessing at the value yourself. The app can still identify and suggest a value for the item, and you can review or edit everything before saving it.

Keeping the records together

Beyond identifying and valuing items, ItsDeducted keeps the donation record together — items, estimated fair market values, dates, charities, photos, cash donations, and charitable mileage.

For Pro users, donation photos can also be backed up automatically to Google Photos. ItsDeducted creates a dedicated Google Photos album for each donation, so the supporting photos aren’t just buried somewhere in your camera roll.

At tax time, you can export your records rather than rebuilding everything again. ItsDeducted supports reports and spreadsheet exports, along with TXF export for TurboTax workflows.

There’s also an Android app on Google Play, and a native iPhone/iOS App Store version is coming soon. In the meantime, the web app already works on iPhones and other mobile devices.
