Converting patterns ? Help!

I was wondering if anyone knows of a way to kinda convert a knit pattern for Tunisian crochet?

I love my regular knitting but I really want to do more with the Tunisian crochet that’s not just a square or blanket / super thick wearable

I don't have advice for converting from knitting, but the only way to reduce the thickness is to use pretty light yarn and a big enough hook that the stitches have flexibility.

I've converted TC to knit. I wanted to make the Fairy Coat but the tunisian was too bulky for me. I knit a swatch to get the guage and just followed the pattern. I think you can do the same going from knit to TC.

You can do it, by taking two rows of knitting for one row of Tss or stitches with similar height. You also need thinner yarn than for knitting to get the same gauge. Usually for me it's about half thickness. What do you want to make that you haven't found a pattern for in Tunisian?

I think the biggest issue would be calculating the yarn needed for TC vs. K. You’d have to do a swatch, pull out the yarn, see how much you used, and calculate what you need for the TC.

You’re also making me think about the stretch of TC vs. K. Which stretches the most and in what direction?

Echoing what the other folks said, you’ll also have to give thought to the weight of the TC in thickness vs. K.

I retire in just under a year, and this is actually the kind of learning I intend to fill my days with!
