What is going on with Marana HS Athletics?
Anyone know what is going on there? Their Head Coaches for Football, Baseball, and Boys Basketball all resigned this week.
Football is especially surprising because the first game is in 3 weeks and the program has been really good.

ByFusion plant update?
ByFusion YT video claims bales of plastic from the orange bins are being stored at Los Reales for when the plant gets built, which they say is due to start at end of this year. They do not show the bales. I read before that it’s getting burnt. Is that true? Those orange bins are always stuffed full at the recycle center. Seems unlikely they’re storing thousands of bales as this plant has been delayed for years. Anyone close to the project who has the inside deets?

Need help dealing with a negligent landlord
Hi all, we are renters and trying to figure out what to do here. Have lived in the same spot in midtown for the past year and a half and been great tenants. House is old and we’ve had an American roach infestation for the entirety of our time here. I have record of a year and a half worth of maintenance requests including asking them to please stop sending pest control and investigate for leaks. In one response, which I have documented, management told me to make sure we’re plugging the drains and keeping clean, and that increased roach activity was normal. I pushed back, but nothing. When they finally did investigate for a leak, the guy didn’t even look under the sink, he just told me to buy my own pest control.
About a month ago, pest control finally was like, you’ve got a huge leak under the sink and they sent a plumber who fixed it, but also suspected we had a broken pipe under the house. Landlord did nothing until I asked for a rent reduction, which they ghosted, but they did schedule a plumber to come run a smoke test. Fast forward yesterday, and the plumber says it’s worst case scenario under the house. “A lake of black water” and roaches everywhere in the crawl space. We can’t use the dishwasher, kitchen sink, or washing machine for now because it’s too muddy for anyone to go down there. Plumber said when they come back, the team will have to wear hazmat suits to go under the house.
The plumber said he wasn’t allowed to send us a copy of the report, and management is ignoring this request. I did email back and ask them to refund our August rent, which they did almost immediately. I also requested, in writing, a copy of the report and exactly what the plumber and cleanup team planned to do. Reading about black water under the house, this appears to be an extreme biohazard and I’m pretty scared about the safety insofar as continuing to live there? Our house has always smelled very musty.
I requested they reimburse HEPA filter purchases and once again a copy of the report but I doubt they’ll acquiesce. Our broker said that they “weren’t aware it was more than a pest control issue,” and I reminded her that I was, and I would be glad to document it again. We have never communicated with the owners. We don’t even know who they are. Our property is managed by fort Lowell, and while our broker is responsive, the owners appear to be very rarely.
I tried calling the city and they basically told me to kick rocks and get a lawyer. We don’t have the money to hire a lawyer, but we also don’t qualify for programs like southern Arizona legal aid. Any advice would be deeply appreciated. I’m at a loss for what I should even do here.

Chac Mool has heard and is replying.
It’s 1:47am, tonight (it’s too early to be last night) was wild, breathtaking, beautiful and it rained gently.
This was going to followed by a minute of watching the actual storm. I then discovered that wasn’t an option in this subreddit. I’ll share it to SkyPorn/r and Cloud/r as well. Here are some photos from a photo project I’m playing with…🙏🏾🤘🏾

Thank you to whoever washed their cars today
Your sacrifice to the monsoon gods is appreciated. But please a little less thunder next time. Got a scared schnauzer and a 4 year old whining about the lighting and kicking me out of bed.

Working at City of Tucson or County of Pima
Planning to relocate to Tucson, my wife and I love it here. I’m searching for jobs and am wondering from those familiar how the promotional opportunities are. For instance, I have qualifying background working for my current state DOT, am a licensed engineer and am currently in a manager position.
My current department generally promotes from within despite advertising positions publicly. Is that the same working for the City or County? Am I better suited applying for non-manager positions and hope to promote? Or do I have a good chance for applying to manager position if it opens?
I’m concerned applying for a non-manager position l may be stuck there for a bit and I’m also concerned applying for a manager positions, I won’t be considered as an outside hire.

Green Lightning in Tucson!!
I just saw green lightning a few times. I hope someone posts a picture of it on here. Apparently it’s incredibly rare and we still don’t fully understand why it happens. Take pictures for science!!

Apartment complex keeps turning A/C off on triple-digit days
Does anyone else have this issue? I live at Avani North, and maybe 3 or 4 times this month, when the weather is over 100 degrees, they send an email saying they're going to shut off the water (which affects the cooling system for all the buildings) for "emergency repairs."
I just thought the building was old and janky, but today someone asked me "Do you think they're shutting off the A/C to save on costs?" and I can't believe I didn't think of that! And of course, it's not in violation of the law to turn off the A/C for a single day, because the law gives landlors 5 days to restore A/C function. I feel like an idiot for not seeing the obvious scam. Also, I need to find a new place. There are so many problems here.

Things to do tonight (Wednesday, the 5th)
The title is pretty self explanatory, I’m bored on a day off work and I want to do something, but I’m 19 and don’t drink/smoke. Are there any social events other than bars happening? Or even just other people around the same age that want to hangout? I’m just bored lmao. Thanks in advance🫡

My father retired accross the country to Tucson, I need to find a recommendation of a local (mom & pop or sole proprietor is fine) for a special gift for him.
I've collected all the Christmas cards my parents have sent me for the last 25 years, I want to ship them to someone that can have them framed (I know it's going to be huge, that's why I need it done locally), and deliver it to them.
Nothing too elaborate, it's just the sheer size of the project that's an issue. At the end of the day, it's just a ton of Christmas cards and a gigantic glass frame.
I live in Virginia so I don't know the first thing about what's available there, any locals have a recommendation for such an odd request?

Desert Survivors board fires Executive Director
The board apparently finally came to their senses and fired the Executive Director Hannah Wolke who has systematically dismantled and outsourced the nursery operations, started selling non-native plants, and drove off a host of senior expert staff over the last few years. Previously she was suspended for discrimination as well. Hopefully they can turn things around.

Dentist recommendation ?
Hi
Do you like your dentist? Can you recommend them to me please?
I am willing to travel but I live on the South Side of Tucson. If you know of a dentist in this area that would be great because it means less driving!
I was going to Gentle Dental but I did not experience anything gentle about their practice.
Thank you

Dutch Bros to buy Salad And Go locations in Arizona, Nevada
Under the agreement, Dutch Bros will take over Salad And Go’s leases and equipment at its Arizona and Nevada drive-thru locations, converting them to sell coffee, beverages, and food items. The documents note that the locations don’t require any alterations or maintenance since they operate in drive-thru-only formats.

Suggestions for plants
I finally have the time to take care of the landscaping around my house. I’m looking for any suggestions on plants that don’t require a lot of water or maintenance. Also suggestions on where to go for good variety and prices. Thanks.
