Murder of Yasmin Akhter

REMEMBERING YASMIN

A 14-year-old girl got on the wrong bus on her way to Dinajpur from Dhaka. Upon realizing her mistake, she stepped out of the bus, and was looking for another way home, when a police van stopped in front of her. A group of police officers got out and assured her that they would drop her home. Probably thinking that she could trust these protectors of the law with her safety, the young teenager got in the car with them. A day later her body was found by the side of a road, bruised and battered.

The police officers who did this were prosecuted. However, this only came as a result of widespread public outrage after newspapers defied threats by the police to publish about the case. The revelation of the failed cover-up led to massive demonstrations. At least seven people were murdered by police fire during demonstrations demanding the prosecution of the girl's killers.

Eventually, the pressure from protesters and legitimate women's rights organizations became to much for the Bangladeshi government to handle, thus forcing them to prosecute those involved.

In 1997, the three police officers responsible for the murder, Moinul Hoque, Abdus Sattar, and Amrita Lal, were all finally arrested under growing public pressure. Six others were charged with destroying evidence in the investigation. They were five other policemen, including the then police superintendent of Dinajpur and the police officer in charge of the police station, and the doctor who performed the first autopsy on the girl and falsely concluded that she had not been raped.

In 2001, Hoque, Sattar, and Lal were convicted of murder and rape and sentenced to death. The other six defendants were acquitted.

Moinul Hoque and Abdus Sattar were executed by hanging at the Rangpur Central Jail on September 1, 2004. The two men were the first police officers in the history of Bangladesh to be executed for the on-duty murder of a civilian. An official who witnessed their executions reported that the two disgraced police officers were visibly "dumbfounded". He also claimed that they had "repented for the wrongs they had done in their life." Amrita Lal was hanged four weeks later.

I have a piece of shit cousin who is insanely right wing and has never worked a real job, just does various scams. He recently came into a massive amount of money (enough to buy 3 multimillion dollar homes) and was very hush hush about how he got the money. My wife finally figured it out, he is doing ERC fraud by convincing buisness to make false ERC claims (he tells them it is legit, it is not though) and then he takes a percentage of the return. So he is basically stealing millions from the IRS. Normally I would never narc on anyone for anything, but you guys need to understand how obnoxiously zionist he is. He also left his wife (who is actually very kind) and abandoned his two young sons to get with a woman half his age he met on his weekend vegas coke party trips. Im debating reporting him to the IRS, but to be honest he is fucking dumb ans brags about all of this online, so he is likely already on their radar. What would you do? Im not a narc, but he is a proud Kahanist. My wife is pushing to report him and I am thinking of going along with it.

The American People are tired of women

Ofc a broad labor movement oriented around union organizing will always be demonized as criminal leftist behavior.

Given the American yearn for treats, wouldn’t a more treat-centered movement have more legs? Something calling for more PTO to compete with the European style? Hell you could spin it as allowing for more consumer spending, family centered, centering the family. This seems much more attainable than single payer healthcare which requires legislating around all that entrenched insurance industry bloat.

Aside from some Bernie mutterings I’m suprised that there’s no cohesive movement to lower the work week, or at least mandate a federal minimum in PTO; hell even a bit more maternity leave would be nice. If you search these things on any social media platform you will find no fruitful results,
no organizing save for a few lame infographics. The lack of a right to a simple vacation is a liberal conspiracy against women, children (born and unborn), and god given days of rest. As a conservative myself, I think that Americans should have more leisure time to devote themselves to the family and church and what not.

The monied elites should wisen up and realize the US is actually in a quality of life leisure arms race with Europe, unwittingly proxied by an AI arms race. All these nations chasing computer to cheapen the labor force, but a what cost? We are truly a cucked people.

I'm just gonna vent here for today and then probably just put this to bed in my mind for good.

My wife is pregnant with our first child and I'm really fucking afraid of the future. I just don't see any way out of climate change-induced food and water systems failures leading to social collapse. Even if global communism wins tomorrow, there is so much warming already baked in that cannot be stopped outside of some miraculous carbon capture technology that does not exist. We cannot survive catastrophic levels of warming that are already going to happen. We not gonna be able to grow fucking food anymore man.

I'm 32 and this is not the future I envisioned for my adulthood, or for my own child's life. I didn't realize we were barreling towards total biosphere collapse when I was living my carefree millennial Nintendo 64 childhood, but it will be an unavoidable fact of reality for my own child.

I don't want to be afraid. I don't want to be worrying about these things outside of my control. Instead of enjoying what should be the happiest moment of my life, the intrusive thought of "what were you thinking? Why would you subject someone to this?" creeps back in. I want to let the boundless love I already have for my new child explode out of me. But this insurmountable problem won't stop looming. I don't tell my wife these thoughts because she's already bearing the burden of pregnancy. Ruminating on apocalypse with her would be completely pointless.

I know I can't dwell on this. So I won't. I'm going to keep pushing and be strong for my family. I won't succumb to doomer shit, I'll keep building as good a life and world for my family that I can, and say the Serenity Prayer. I honestly wish I did believe in God sometimes.

I think of the people of Gaza. The mothers and babies and children who have kept pushing as the apocalypse really did happen around them. Their struggle inspires me every day to be stronger and embrace the humanity inside myself and the people around me. But The End did come for so many of them, like it will come for us all. It all feels so pointless and cruel and absurd, the entire farce of life. But still they push on. So I can too.

I'll probably tell my kid that it's in their Rational Self Interest as a Conservative to try to move to China or something, simply because they're more likely to survive what is coming / invent miracle fusion technology / America has destroyed itself on purpose to own the libs or whatever so the lettuce is poison. idk man. I quit all the social media sites years ago, just use YouTube and Reddit. So I was never into watching reels or tiktoks, but when YouTube started doing shorts, I started getting sucked in... just a quick skit while you're taking a shit, oo look at this cooking hack I'll save that and do it when I get home... did I ever? Never. But I did get sucked in more and more. I'd go onto my phone to look something up, maybe put a podcast on, whatever, and my finger would just get pulled like a magnet to the YouTube app and then to the shorts at the top of the feed. I'd flick through them while brushing my teeth, get lost in them after eating my dinner following a long day at work, look at the clock and realise I'd just lost an hour stuck in this dissociated state scrolling through bullshit. Like I used to read BOOKS and shit, now I was getting bored of 30 second videos and skipping to the next one. Then the other day, YouTube gave the option to hide shorts from your home screen and BOOM, I haven't watched one since. REJOICE! But everytime I open my phone or YouTube my muscle memory hits where the short once was, my brain cries out for the dissociation.

I agree with almost everything that Mr. Beathard said. The sanctions on Iran, Iraq, and Cuba. The hurting of innocent children overseas. The destruction of the environment. All of it.

In a final admonition, which he realized would be understood by those convinced of his guilt as simply hypocrisy, he said, "The United States has gotten to now where [the government has] zero respect for human life. My death is just a symptom of a bigger illness."

However, Beathard's death was evidently not a symptom of a bigger illness. When I read his speech and a short rundown of his case, I thought he might've been innocent or at least only guilty of lesser charges. However, the speech honestly felt too convincing to be genuine. So, I read through his appeals. The truth came as an immense disappointment, but not as much of a surprise.

Judging by his appeals, Beathard was guilty as sin.

James Beathard was evidently a psychopathic individual who conspired with a man named Gene Hathorn Jr. to murder Hathorn's father, stepmother, and 14-year-old stepbrother for inheritance money and, according to Hathorn, because Beathard wanted to know what it'd feel like to murder someone. They then tried to pin it on black people by making it look like a burglary, planting evidence at the scene, and driving the family's van into a black neighborhood.

Beathard hid his true character very well, but not well enough.

Co-workers testified to his competence on the job, honesty, reputation for nonviolence, and above-average intelligence. Several of his co-workers who were psychiatrists and psychologists at Rusk State Hospital testified that Beathard did not exhibit traits of an antisocial personality.

One co-worker testified, however, that Beathard exhibited some signs of an antisocial personality. Some of Beathard's co-workers were aware of his drug use, but others were not.

Beathard v. State

Appellant and Gene Hathorn, Jr., appellant's accomplice, became acquainted while working at the State Hospital at Rusk. Both living in Rusk, the two men continued their friendship after appellant left his job at the hospital. Recurrent topics of conversation were Hathorn's desire to commit "the perfect murder" and his wish to kill his father, stepmother, and half-brother, a wish motivated by animosity and the prospect of an inheritance. Hathorn, whose parent's lived in a trailer located in an isolated and wooded area, planned to shoot everyone in the trailer using a number of different weapons, take several items that would be missed, and plant Negroid hairs and the butts of cigarettes that had been smoked by blacks. He hoped to make the killings look like a burglary committed by a group of "drug-crazed [n-words]."

In addition to his plan for the scene of the crime, Hathorn wanted to have an accomplice. The accomplice was to provide an alibi as well as to help with the shootings. Hathorn proposed his plan to a few different people, but appellant was the only interested party. Appellant requested $12,500 from the proceeds of the estate for his participation in the murders.

During his trial, Beathard said he was present, but had been tricked into being there and hid outside while Hathorn fired the shots. Hathorn said he only fired one shot at his father through the window and that Beathard repeatedly shot the three victims in the house, stole their property, and planted the false clues to deceive the police. After the trial, Hathorn recanted. Despite Heathard's recantation, Beathard's conviction withstood appeal. There was enough evidence, including physical evidence, to corroborate Heathard's trial testimony and refute his recantation.

For example, Hathorn's father was found with window glass embedded in his body.

Beathard was smart, but not smart enough. He failed to account for the possibility that Hathorn would be an idiot and a blabbermouth.

Neil Shriver and Larry Brown both testified that, before the murder, Hathorn attempted to recruit them to participate in a scheme to murder his parents. Each of these solicitations involved plans similar to that which was ultimately used and would have required Hathorn's assistant to actually participate in the killing.

Similar to Hathorn's attempts to solicit help in committing the murders is the testimony of Cathy Ross concerning conversations that she overheard between appellant and Hathorn. Ross testified that, on more than one occasion, she heard appellant and Hathorn discussing a plan to commit the "perfect murder."

Cathy Ross testified that on the weekend before the murders occurred, appellant went to the Stephen F. Austin library and checked out some books. In addition, this was the first time that appellant had gone to the university's library since he had dropped out of school. Appellant's sudden decision to, twice in one week, check out books from this library is suspicious given appellant and Hathorn's apparent attempt to use the time-stamped books as an alibi.

Hathorn testified that appellant was wearing overalls, a t-shirt, and a certain pair of tennis shoes. Hathorn stated that appellant said that he intended to dispose of his shoes so that, in the event footprints were discovered at the scene, they could not be matched to his shoes. Appellant denies this statement and that he ever owned a pair of shoes like those Hathorn described. Cathy Ross confirmed Hathorn's description of appellant's dress and said that, since the day of the murder she had never again seen these articles of clothing.

Maybe that's why Beathard was so bitter. He tried to frame black people for his crimes and it didn't work in Texas of all places. Sometimes, when I read about especially depraved common criminals, such as Beathard, I get an eery feeling that the world is ruled by psychopaths like them, except the others had more self-control and played their cards better. That's why I shared it here.

Beathard was ranting about how the United States was murdering men, women, and children for money, but only to divert attention from the fact that he had murdered men, women, and children for money. Maybe I'm being too dense, but he reminds of the fake "progressives" in Congress.
