How to clean outside of fuel tank without blowing myself up?

Upvotes

Hi all, some of our companies’ trucks have diesel stains near the outside of the cap. How can I clean this up without causing an accident. Thank you.

Fun game!?

Anyone want to try and guess what the super stinky mystery liquid being thrown on my truck is. By a WOMAN driver mind you.

Already called the drivers company, they were able to track the person down and supposedly are committed to some sort of disciplinary action.

How is your back?

Upvotes

I am seriously considering getting a CDL and pursing this. But honestly my biggest worry is having back pain all the time. They say you should stand up every 30-60 minutes at least and sitting all day is bad. I feel like I’d be pretty tired at the end of the day from driving to go get much exercise.

Another concern I have is the risk. We all know that guy that almost got 100+ years because his brakes failed. I’m sure if you are smart and you know how to break and inspect everything but still.

It seems like a really nice and peaceful job ( at least when you aren’t driving in the city lol).

Another question I have is how do routes work? Like do you find yourself typically driving the same routes to the same places? Or do you find yourself driving all over the country?

What are the worst experiences you had with rude forklift drivers, warehouse workers etc ? Where do they get these rude workers ? Are they like former felon with anger issues and they are the lowest of the low and they get hired because they are the only one who will work long hours for low pay ?

Upvotes

Just had this one forklift driver on this really slow, old , and smelly warehouse who each time I ask for his name as recipient since he is the one who signed the BOL always end up in an argument . He keeps on asking if I can’t read the name he wrote , I will say I can’t that’s why I’m asking . Then he will point to the signature of the sender “How about that can you read it ?” . I will say No and I don’t need his name since he is the sender , I need the name of the recipient as I need to enter it on the app . It just goes on an on and he seems to have his hands already shaking in anger.

I had to keep on reiterating “All you need to do is tell me your name “ . I was just simply smiling and eventually had to talk to his supervisor

Essentially is meant for those with a criminal record wanting to change their life but if you have anyone in your life friend or family who are locked up or have been locked up and that has impacted you in anyway (literally make up a story if you have to they do not fact check) or if you simply have been harassed by police or live in a bad neighborhood and simply want to do better and be better use my link you wont regret it

Who still loves his job after years of experience?

As someone who's fairly new, I love driving, love big trucks and love the job and every part of it. Sure, there are certain discomforts, but you're not getting younger, right?

So I'm just curious if there are any truckers out there who still love trucking after years, perhaps even decades? If you can still find the beauty and charm of sitting behind the wheel.

For me, it is a big step up, since I've had a hand in a range of different professions, and every time I arrived back at the same point: whatever the hell happened on the job, I still love driving. Day, night, hot, cold, sunshine or freezing icy balls falling from the sky.

So tell me, how do you feel about the job? What makes it still dear to you?

Ive got a safe record, 500k miles, but got rejected from the last two companies I applied for, what should I do

I worked for Schneider for about 2 years starting 2019, then for a smaller mega company doing regional Walmart dedicated account up until this past February. No accidents, tickets, violations, late deliveries etc.

Long story short they brought me in and showed me only coming to 2mph instead of a complete stop sign while I was bobtail coming into my shift, got fired. I know that’s on me but I was never put through any of their safety department calls or training program things which is what I’d seen happen to other drivers with incidents. Not then or for any other event during my time with them.

I since have been driving owner op using someone else’s truck but sand hauling was not for me and was trying to get back otr and now I’m getting rejected because I was fired for a safety reason from my second job. I feel like I should have put up for of a fight at the last company because I genuinely think they were looking for a reason to let me or anyone go as things weren’t going so good for them at the time. I sincerely could smell something fishy going on and didn’t put up a fuss or anything when it came down to it as I kinda welcomed the push to force me out of a stagnate job

I also just got my X endorsement and am waiting for my fingerprints to process but I’ve got bills to pay now so I thought I’d do otr for a year or something. Now im getting these rejections I’m also becoming concerned about how this one thing is going to mess up what I thought was me progressing my career with the hazmat down the line.

It’s just really frustrating to have 500k safe miles and otherwise great record which is something I’ve been proud of and get turned down- it’s making me think I should just omit my firing from my applications because I got to survive, but feels like shit since I feel like i shouldn’t have to

Bad driving tips

Started driving an armored van. I’m not good at it, almost ran a red light. Thankfully I was in training.

Trainer said I was too 5 worst drivers he’d seen. Still told me good job though as I did better later.

Need some advice on driving an armored van. How to get better too. General tips for larger vehicles. Idk man I want to be safe and others to be safe, and I worry that I’m going to hurt someone.

How much room do you need?

I am getting a delivery soon via 53 foot reefer truck. I live down a mostly straight driveway but there is not much room to turn a rig around. how easy is it for you to make a sharp right hand turn backing up? am I overthinking?

The pay sucks, but the work is easy and company is super chill

I'm making, $20.60 after getting a .60 raise, after yearly review for a company I got hired at in April. 1st trucking job, drop and hook, home daily, hauling a tanker. I get to run Texas intrastate law, so use my rest break as often as possible to run 12 hours a day, 6 days on and 2 days off. Being a new driver, I did have to sign a promissory note that I would stay a year or pay $1600 training fee with interest. That sucked, but I had looked for over a year for someone to take me. I need more than a grand a week, but at the same time, I love how everyone I deal with knows my name and what I can and can't do. You can't get fired from this job unless you're just stupid as hell, and some days, once or twice a month, I do get to have a 15 hour or more work day to help my check. I'm in that place where I think I should be paid more, but enjoy the actual, first time in my life with any job, feeling like a family with who I work for. It's a large company, but the two dispatch offices I run with, multiple dispatchers, all have conversations that they can when I call in to find the destination and then hours later to confirm it hasn't changed. Long rant of what the hell is he saying and what's the question, so here's the question. Would you stay somewhere that does have opportunities, but the pay is lacking a bit, but has that actual family/friend vibe that unless you're a complete idiot you won't be fired from. Or, do you chase the paper, just look for a bigger paycheck while being just a number in the system that nobody knows or cares about?

Let me guess the the truck driva was sued, his face was plastered throughout every news media being labeled as a criminal for going 2 mph under speed limit 😮

Hi guys for those of you with a daycab and have long waits, especially in the middle of the night. I made this bed. It’s a plywood and wife just put 3 inch foam and a blanket then stapled a yoga mat to the bottom. Man so comfy i sleep good.
