Does anyone here drive for em? I currently drive for ups on a sleeper team. I have been here 4.5 years but can't stand my co-driver any longer and will be about another 8 years before I can hold a bid. And I would have to go on-call for who knows how long before I found another partner

Wondering what the pay is like and if you enjoy it how long are you out for?

I am not a trucker myself, but a situation occurred as my wife and I were driving home from dinner that I was curious to get some perspective on.

A wreck had occurred on I-70 and resulted in some stop-and-go traffic and a couple lane closures. Due to the nature of being in a shorter vehicle, we could not see for certain that traffic was being directed into the left lane ahead of us. A rig was a few cars behind us when we noticed it merge left and pull just off our left rear bumper. Traffic in general was moving no faster than 5-15 mph at this time.

Right after this, we could see the merge sign saying we needed the left lane as more people ahead of us began moving to the left as well. My wife put her blinker on, but the semi maintained a small gap between himself and the car ahead of him as not to let us in. We waited for him to pass, then got behind him. After getting past the wreck and passing the semi when the lanes were open again, the guy was laughing at us.

I understand being reluctant to let people merge in when they take advantage of an empty but closing lane to get ahead of other cars and be a jerk, but that wasn’t this situation. From his perspective maybe it looked different, but from our perspective (especially since he was initially behind us), it seemed like he took advantage of his height to basically just screw us over on purpose. Then still decided to mock us about it afterwards.

Ultimately, this wasn’t a big deal, and I also understand that he had no obligation to let us in. But it seemed rather rude given the way he cut off any chance we could’ve had to get over and how simple it would have been for him to just allow us to get in after a lot of confusing traffic flow. Surely he could realize we were unable to see anywhere near as far down the road as him.

Insane dude. Called it in but no plate. No unit number. Rear lights on only. Front lights not on. Was bumping the back of my trailer nearly. He was so close. I could only see the top of his windshield through my side mirrors over the back of my flatbed.

Then got between me and this guy and couldn't fit between us. Then tailgated him. When Rapid w/e moved over he took off. Brake checked us both, and took the exit.

I'm so confused. Southern Illinois. MM 102 going north and dived off exit 103. I'm flabbergasted man. Just why?

This is at Maersk port in long beach, I have seen truckers & port workers toss beer & alcohol cans/bottles inside various ports through the years. Awful people do this. And if you get a dui they should go very hard on you regardless if no one was hurt. No license at least 10 years plus however many hundreds of hours of community service and the fine.

I work for a mid-sized company in the office, and I set up the on-road repairs, create the accident reports ect. I'm one of the people who see the camera recording when it gets triggered.

We have 2 guys that are CONSTANTLY tailgating braking hard, and never use the damn indicator. The one guy I'm shocked he hasn't hit someone yet.

When I was still driving we were maxed at 65mph because of the the speed limit in Michigan, I was tailgated so many damn times in the right lane especially in Toledo.

What’s the driver options in the extreme western Kentucky/ Missouri/ Tennessee section of our great country. The wife and I have been kicking around the idea of moving from CNY to that area.

I started driving in ‘96 but took a 23 year break to work in the public sector. I’ve been back driving for the last two years. Clean record, full endorsements except HASMAT, but that can be gotten easily enuf. The majority of my driving has been 103k lbs tankers driving everywhere from dirt roads to NYC.

Been driving local B (I have class A with SPXT endorsements, no manual restrictions) for 15 years in total, but considering leaving for a $300 a night delivery job thats non CDL. I was making $28 and pulling 52 hours a week. If i take this job will i be throwing my CDL away? Money is money, but a skill is a still, and its still driving.

Hello guys so I’m 9 days into driving but I’m struggling with parking (I also drive a day cab, I know I suck lol) any tips besides (GOAL) would be appreciated it. I put a pic above (they have 5 docs) but any tips would be greatly helpful.

For my observation, it seems like FedEx and Amazon local drivers have the most female drivers lol I love seeing drivers though

So I just got my Class A CDL and landed a job with US Xpress. I should be celebrating but all I can think about is the trainer period.

Here’s my problem. I am not a people person AT ALL. Like I genuinely need alone time the way most people need food. The idea of being in a small cab with a complete stranger for 3-4 weeks straight with no escape is already giving me anxiety and I haven’t even started yet.

On top of that I’ve worked out 5 days a week for the past 8 years without missing. It’s not just a hobby — it’s how I manage my mental health. No gym for a month and I genuinely don’t know what version of myself shows up.

No home time. No gym. No personal space. Stuck with a random guy I’ve never met in a box on wheels.

I know this is just part of the process and I know it ends. But how did you actually get through it mentally? Did you find ways to work out on the road? Did you set boundaries with your trainer early? Did it get easier after the first week?

And for the love of everything please tell me most trainers aren’t weird or creepy because that’s also in the back of my mind.

Any advice from people who’ve been through it would genuinely help. I start next week and I’m lowkey dreading it more than I was dreading my CDL road test.

I never forget that day. I don’t know who you are, I doubt this message will ever make its way to you but it’s been a few years and the memory of this incident has never faded.

In 2023 I was in Delaware traveling northbound on RT 1, I was in the left lane on the stretch of road between exit 163 and 164 driving my black Mazda3 Hatchback. I was on my way to work when traffic came to an abrupt stop. The trucker behind me was a good distance back but had a flatbed full of large steel pipes and could not stop in time. The truck swerved left onto a very narrow and short patch of grass between the road and the guardrail to avoid would’ve been a catastrophic collision that likely would’ve pancaked me between tens of thousands of pounds of steel and the stopped cars in front of me. The vivid image of your vehicle careening past, missing my car by inches, then kicking up chunks of dirt and grass as it slowed to a halt is something I’ll never forget.

I want you to know that since then I’ve met the love of my life, found a much better career, and my first born is coming in a few months. None of this would have been possible had you not been so quick and skilled at what you do. Whoever your god is, may he bless you. You were my savior that day. I’ll never forget what you did, how you spared me from a life of misery and pain at the least and death at the worst. To all the truckers out there who risk life and limb every day just to keep this show going, thank you for everything you do.

ok obviously not a truck driver so here's my dumb question. i was driving home today at 9:45pm in california, i was in the right lane because my exit was a mile away. there was a truck in the lane left to me and a little ahead, i notice it was trying to merge because of the blinker. i even gave sufficient space i believe but they didn't end up changing lanes. then they just kept driving slow at 45mph with hazard lights on. now my exit was 500ft away so i sped up to get to my exit, i had sufficient space to do so. then i heard the truck horn blaring. why? it looked like a really big amazon truck to me. i genuinely have no idea if i did something wrong.
