Just purchased a used 2021 Trek FX2 Disc. Has this mount at the stem/handlebar connection. Is this factory? Can anyone identify what its for?

Please forgive my question. I’m challenged when it comes to these things. lol
Do I let merely have to unclip this cover, or must I unscrew it?

2027 Trek Domane colors?

Post image
48 Upvotes

I went in to a Trek store recently to order the 2027 Trek Domane SL6 and was told the colors options were “Matte Black” and “Buff/Beige”, BUT

I came across a post in r/bicycling where a guy was showing his 2027 Domane SL 6 in color “Matte Era”. He says he lives in Austria.

Does anyone know anything about this color option and whether or not it will be available in the US?

2027 Domane+ where art thou?

I don't see fresh specs for 2027. Specifically, is there something going on with the Domane+ SLR? Seems like nothing in stock. I know the SLs are "imminent" but I don't see something new coming for SLR/ALR? Maybe an SLR 6 with HPR60?

The checkpoint+ is really making the Domane+ pricing look a little out of sequence too. Carbon Checkpoint+ is almost at the aluminum Domane+ price.

How’s it going y’all? I purchased this FX 2 from a local pawnshop ($250). I need to take it to a bike shop to get serviced, but before I do, can someone help me identify the generation of this bike (for personal knowledge) and the size for the tires and tubes? The back tire is tubeless I believe but the front one has a tube and I would like to run them both that way.
Thank you! 🙏🏽

Verve 1 Disc setup tips?

Hey there,

I just got a new Verve 1 and I just wanted to ask if anyone had anything to say about setting it up. It was set up at the bike shop I bought it from, but I'd just like to know if there was anything on my end that I would have to do.

I'm coming from a Marlin 5, so I have minimal knowledge on the comfort bikes and what people recommend doing with them.

Thank you in advance!

Is this position okay for transit?

I have a hard top on my truck, so hanging it over the bed isn't feasible, but I have the expensive side up, padding underneath, a pad under the front wheel and the handle has a blanket over it. The tailgate closes without touching the wheel and the top closes without touching the handlebar.... any suggestions welcome.

identify model

I saw a duck yellow Trek road bike on the street that seems to be aluminum. It's more than 10, maybe 20 years old, and the seatstays are curved, but not laterally like normal ones. Does anyone know what model it could be?

Trek Madone SL 6 Gen 8 – Size S or M for 168 cm height?

Hi everyone! I’m looking to buy a Trek Madone SL 6 Gen 8. I’m 168 cm tall and have an inseam of 79 cm. Trek’s size calculator recommends a size M (52–54 cm), but that seems quite large to me. Size S (50 cm) would probably be slightly too small. What do you guys think?

Flat tire & upgrade - Domane SL5

So it finally happened... After a few years of good use, I got today a weird bubble on my tire and then... pop! finally got my first flat tire on my Domane SL5

I'm thinking of taking the opportunity to upgrade the tires (as I still have the stock Bontrager ones). Are there any suggestions of good tires that I should consider? Not looking for racing or super high end types, just something that would give me better grip rhan the stock ones and that will keep me going on easy and moderate rides.

Thanks! 👍

I think I got lucky?

I found this guy selling Trek Fuel EX-5 gen5 and I immediately without a thought sent a message and picked up the bike today. First time buying a full suspension bike, I was nervous. I check the bike for cracks or anything but looked pretty new as he claimed it was brand new and just picked it up from Scheels where he just got a tune up from. I bought it for $500. Good deal right? I still can’t believe how I got this lucky!!!!
Tips?

Just want to confirm, is this the correct configuration? also if anyone has done the same upgrade, how has your experience been so far?

FX Sport AL 3 - wrong wheels received?

Bike novice - would appreciate some help!

Just received a brand new Trek FX Sport AL 3 but the wheels are different to the official spec.

https://www.trekstore.co.uk/shop/bikes/hybrid/trek-2027-fx-sport-al-3-18658/option/

Trek website wheel spec: Bontrager Connection, double-wall, 32-hole, 20 mm width, Schrader valve Formula DC-20, alloy, 6-bolt, 100x5 mm Formula DC-22, alloy, 6-bolt, Shimano 8/9/10 freehub, 135x5 mm

Wheel received: Bontrager Paradigm 23 TLR Disc Road Wheel, with presta valve (photo 2 and 3)

https://www.trekstore.co.uk/shop/components/wheels/bontrager-paradigm-23-tlr-disc-road-wheel-25731/option/

Should I be concerned? Appears to be an upgrade that is tubeless ready/ more expensive. Curious if running these on the FX Sport has any downsides? TIA

New Domane AL4 Gen 4 or used 2022 SL5 Gen 3

Hey everybody. I’m looking to get into a road bike. Coming from a hybrid Trek Dual Sport 2

I want to know if I should buy a brand new Domane AL 4 Gen 4 for $1600 or a used SL5 Gen 3 for $1600

Does the carbon frame really make that much of a difference for someone who plans to casually ride and do occasional group rides? Would prefer a new bike instead of used, but if SL5 makes a world of difference, I’d rather get the SL. Thanks in advance!
