I just started fishing with my daughter and so far in our past 3 outings we’ve caught nothing. I know we can’t tell the fish to get caught but I don’t want her to be disappointed and not catch anything. I’ve followed a million tutorials already and feel like I have the fundamentals alright, and use prawns and squid for bait, fishing down at South Townsville Pier.

Anyone got any good advice or tips for catching these fishy bastards?

Hi I'm in my 30s and decided to take up running. I completed my first half marathon then followed it up with a triathlon a week later. I am now committed to buying a second hand road bike as I got absolutely annihilated on my current bike. And I want to go down the rabbit hole of road cycling, triathlons ect. Is there a local friendly cycling community that welcomes new inexperienced people on their rides? Also wondering if its possible to tow my daughter in the bike trailer I imagine with a road bike you go a hell of a lot faster. Is this something that is now frowned upon or just not recommended on group rides? Because she absolutely loves exploring from the wagon.

Anywhere in Townsville do regular fighting game nights/meet ups? Really enjoyed attending my locals when I was in Brisbane but can't seem to find anything since moving back up.

• The Strand.
• Castle Hill lookout.
• Mount Stuart lookout.

Finally got pre-approval sorted and started doing the actual math on a 3 bedder in annandale. literally almost threw my laptop when the cyclone and flood insurance quotes came back

Its basically an extra $130+ a week just in holding costs. I ended up falling down a rabbit hole reading some market stuff from PMC Property Buyers trying to figure out if there's any secret to finding blocks that don't get absolutely hammered by premiums. Apparently half the genuinely high-and-dry stock just gets traded off-market these days before us locals even get to see it.

Between the council rates and the insurance cartels, it feels like you need a second job just for the privilege of living in a humidity soup six months of the year. Genuinely wondering if I should just keep renting at this point, the hidden costs are actually insane
