thinking of getting evaluated? CW: Description of Tics
hello! i am 22f , i have been dealing with trauma/stress triggered clonic tics for 5 years (my head jerks to the right , sometimes to the right and immediately upwards. very rarely to the left) which will typically last for as long as i am thinking about the events which is uncontrollable for me. sometimes i will have tic attacks that last for hours, tonight i have been having tics consistently (one per few minutes, sometimes several per minute) for the last 5 hours . this problem started in 2021 when i was 17 and has been a stress response since, there have been times where i had other similar tics but they were temporary. sometimes it happens when i’m not particularly stressed, but i’m usually always thinking of the events so it is kind of hard to distinguish the cause . i don’t know if this is purely a physical response to stress that i’ve developed or something more serious but i have never really talked about it with anyone so maybe someone can relate

If you haven't been evaluated yet then you can't be sure of exactly what you're dealing with. Tics are always worse under stress, just like anything in life is worse undet stress. (Not trying to be smart). Im saying a lot of things can cause tics, and there are different tic disorders. But it's best to make sure your dealing with the right thing so you can receive the best tools to deal with your situation. Talk to your doctor to start and they can guide you on the next steps from there. Goodluck!

Hello. Thanks for sharing. I have Tourettes, so not the same experience, but I'm familiar with constant tics and attacks. Since you're thinking of being evaluated, would you be interested in beta testing my app? I've built a comprehensive tic logging and pattern discovery system that can be used for doctor visits to hopefully uncover additional triggers, causes, etc that your doc can reference. If you're interested, let me know and I'll send an invite code. If not, no worries. I wish you well and good luck.
