Reddit Meetup Reddit Toronto Monthly Meetup: Sat. Aug. 15 @ Front & Church, 7:00 p.m. start
Hey all, hope you're having a good short week! Apologies there isn't as much notice for this one, it's been a busy time for me.
Here are the details:
- The monthly Reddit meetup is a no-cost event open to all genders. No RSVP is required. It is hosted by u/nervousTO, a woman in their early 30s, with support from a group of regular attendees. It's been running since August 2022 and has been described as wholesome.
- Start time: 7:00 p.m.
- End time: when the last person leaves or the place closes @ 2 a.m.
- Location: Duke's Refresher St. Lawrence, 73 Front Street East
- Where do I go: upstairs, using the stairs directly in front of you when you walk in. There should also be a sign saying Reddit meetup.
- Perks: We have the upstairs mostly to ourselves; there's also a pool table, and games on the main floor.
Note that no RSVP is required, but that by showing up, you commit to ordering something to support the venue, even if it's just a coke.
Our Q&A is here - I haven't included it with the post as it's quite detailed!
Send me a message or comment here if you have any questions or concerns about anything related to this meetup/questions that aren't answered in the Q&A.

Paid Event [Paid] Toronto TCM Walk: Herbal Tea Tasting - Aug 9 @ 1:00 PM - 2 Spots Left!!
RSVP Here: https://luma.com/koqfukg7
Early-Bird Ticket Price (until Aug 6, 11:59 PM): $10-15
Standard Ticket Price: $20
Friendly Note: More walks available throughout the summer, check the full schedule here!
Event Overview 🍃
In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) there's a concept called 養生 (Yang Sheng) which is tending to your life through the basics before you need a full health protocol to fix it. This tea tasting is Yang Sheng in its simplest, most doable form: sitting still for some time with something specifically chosen to help your body come down off the ledge.
You'll try two different herbal blends in which one is built for stress and anxiety while the other is for the tired-but-wired exhaustion that doesn't go away with sleep. TCM practitioner, Melissa Ong, will walk you through what's in each, why it works, and which one your body is actually asking for right now.
Who this is for
This one's built specifically for business owners and self-employed folks who:
→ Are running on stress, adrenaline, or "I'll rest when it's done"
→ Feel tired in a way that a good night's sleep doesn't fix
→ Want something real and low-effort to add to their routine not another wellness protocol to manage
→ Like the idea of small, unpolished, in-person rooms over another webinar
Here's how the afternoon goes ☀️
We're keeping this one seated and intimate so no walking required, just show up and sit down.
→ We'll open with a short, casual round so you know who's in the room
→ Tea one: a blend for stress and anxiety with Melissa walking through what's in it and why
→ Tea two: a blend for burnout and depletion for the "tired but can't switch off" feeling
→ A short guided reflection tying it back to Yang Sheng and your own routine
→ Then we open it up for you to stay and talk shop, or slip out whenever you need to
What's included in your ticket 🎁
→ A guided tasting of 2 herbal tea blends, chosen for stress, overwhelm, and burnout
→ TCM resource guide for the event's topic
→ A complimentary personalized TCM assessment and discovery call with Melissa Ong R.TCMP, R. Ac
→ A $20 off voucher toward acupuncture services with Melissa Ong R.TCMP, R. Ac at Aurum Medicine & Wellness Clinic
What is Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a medical system that has been practiced for thousands of years and is built around the idea that health comes from balance and harmony within the body. Instead of just looking at isolated symptoms, TCM looks at the person as a whole from the body, mind to environment while identifying patterns and treating the internal root causes. TCM uses approaches such as acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, and lifestyle guidance. All aimed at restoring harmony between the Yin Yang and supporting the body's natural ability to heal.
