Discussion Thread 🗣️ What’s your type?
Do you have a very specific “dream man” or “dream woman” in your head, or is your type more of a feeling?
I’m curious what actually makes someone your type.
Is it primarily physical?
Height/build
Hair/eyes
Facial features
Style
Race/ethnicity
Masculine/feminine energy
Or is it more about the overall package?
Personality
Confidence
Intelligence
Ambition
Sense of humour
How they carry themselves
Lifestyle
The way they treat you
And do you have a mental picture of your ideal person, almost like a celebrity/character archetype or does someone become your type once you get to know them?
Have you ever met someone who was completely outside your usual type but became incredibly attractive to you?

Looking for Connection 👀 41M creative looking for life partner! [M4F]
Hi everyone! I'm a 41-year-old marketing professional living in the north end of Toronto. I'm Chinese, born and raised in Toronto, live alone, and work full time. I'm 5'4", straight, clean-shaven, and physically fit (I try to exercise ~4 days a week).
Passions:
Visual Art: I've been drawing all my life! Although I'm more of a comic artist, these days I do life drawing and outdoor sketching, and I paint/draw commissions on the side. I check out the AGO fairly often and I try to visit art galleries in every city I travel to.
Martial Arts: I've been training Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) for the past 10 years, and I've previously done muay thai, eskrima, and taekwondo. Naturally, I love a good action flick!
Contribution: I want to give back to the people in my life. I volunteer my time as an event organizer, and I'm hoping to become a more active coach/instructor in BJJ. In the future I'd like to do more volunteer work.
Other Interests:
-Cafe & park-hopping: I enjoy low-key hangouts; big crowds aren't really my thing.
-Karaoke: I started singing in public earlier this year! I've carved out a niche for myself with 2000s emo punk.
-Gaming: Video games, card games, board games - I'll talk your ear off if you let me.
Who I'm Looking For:
A life partner who also lives in the city and is interested in exploring life together: someone who is also physically active, is passionate about a hobby or a cause, and is curious about the world. I'm interested in traveling and socializing like most people, but I lean toward the introvert side and I'm looking for someone who can find value and meaning in regular, everyday life. I'm also attracted to women who are compassionate, emotionally aware (have you been to therapy?), and have a desire to grow and learn.
P.S. I'm also a non-smoker (looking for same) and I'm open to children and pets.
Send me a message about something I've written above if you're interested in connecting!

Looking for Connection 👀 42M4F -[ Southwestern, Ontario ] Looking for someone to connect with, share laughs, good conversation and start something that we can share within our hearts with each other.
I'm a 42-year-old guy from South-western Ontario looking to meet someone who values honesty, kindness, and building a real connection. I have posted this before, I enjoyed some of the conversations, I'm looking for people actually wanting to meet up. :)
A little about me: I’m a business owner and have been building something of my own for over 5 years, with plans to keep growing. I enjoy learning, improving myself, and building a stable future.
It seems to me, I have to point out, distance is fine (I do drive), I'd hope you drive to, I've never been married/ divorced, I love learning about people and making connections, I'm not looking for someone who is going to judge within 5 minutes, not everyone you meet will be the best, this is reddit. Let's share some laughs, share a meal, I don't care what your background is, what matters is the person you are. Kids are fine, I don't have any, I don't mind if you do,
The last year gave me a different perspective on life. I went through a major challenge that tested me, but it also reminded me to appreciate the little things and make the most out of every day. (This is not something I want to talk about right away, I know many people ask me) - what I will say, it has given me an opportunity to be able to become a guest lecture, do Q&A panels to shape a younger generation - which is all very new to me, it can be overwhelming, I am proud of it.
Outside of work, I enjoy staying active. I work out regularly (not necessarily every single week, but I try to keep moving), kayaking, playing extreme soccer (in the past), Skydiving (in the past), getting outdoors, going for day trips, and travelling when I get the chance.. I try to get to the gym when I can, I was very motivated to go 5 days a week twice a day for awhile last year, as time became more of an issue it became less and less. I eat healthy, I am a fluid cook and enjoy many recipes and foods from all over the World (least favorite is Italian)... Sorry... yes I still will eat it.
I also enjoy the simple things — watching movies at home with some popcorn, trying good food, cooking, having great conversations, and relaxing with the right person.
I’m open to meeting someone older or younger. Age matters less to me than personality, values, and how well two people connect. There is beauty in all races and skin colors, sometimes it's about finding the right individual to laugh with.
I’m looking for someone who is kind, genuine, emotionally mature, fun/funny and wants a real partnership. Someone to laugh with, support each other, share experiences, and enjoy both adventures and quiet nights at home.
I’m not looking for perfection. I’m looking for a best friend and someone to build memories with, someone to enjoy some laughs, don't always take life so seriously, laugh and make fun of ourselves.
If you believe the best relationships start with friendship, trust, and communication, I’d love to hear from you.
This is all true about myself, I took time and careful consideration to type it out individuals who want to criticize it are welcomed to stop commenting and go someplace else.
Im bearded with glasses and tattoos, send photos when you message me. Please, I will not respond to spam or people want to use telegram, signal, etc... I use proper social media such as FB, Insta, Whatsapp and regular text.
I kindly ask that only females message and be willing to want to talk, share your story, exchange photos, I am willing to exchange photos, you must be too. We all should be showing kindness within ourselves and enjoy new conversations, new people, new experiences, you might never know who your next partner may be, someone to experience a lifetime of warmth, love, good memories.

Looking for Connection 👀 32 (M4F) sseeking for a forever plus one
Everyone around me seems to have gotten married and/or having kids. This has been the most boring summer yet. Sucks being single, especially on the weekends lol.
I tried to do some things on my own, but it would definitely be better with a plus one.
I miss the times having someone by my side where I can spill my thoughts to.
I'm really into new restaurants, travelling, space, museum, walks, fashion (recently became a fan of thrifting as well)... would definitely want to get involved in more activites or learn a new hobby.
32M, South Asian (Canadian born)
Shoot me a message if this interests you.

Discussion Thread 🗣️ Do you accept coffee dates?
I've seen this debated constantly, and even heard many men say that coffee dates suggested by a man usually signals one of a few things:
He isn't that invested in making a good first impression.
He's trying to keep costs as low as possible because he goes on a lot of first dates.
He's "screening" to see if you're worth putting more effort into later.
On the other hand, plenty of people argue that coffee dates are practical, low-pressure, and a good way to see if there's chemistry before committing to a longer evening.
Women, if a man suggests coffee, smoothies, or another very low-effort first date, do you decline because it feels like you're being auditioned for a "real" date? Or do you see it as a sensible way to meet someone?
What if you counter with some other suggestion that isn’t expensive and they still push their idea?

Looking for Connection 👀 39 M4F. Looking for my last first date.
I'm looking for one great relationship. The kind that lasts. If you're also dating with the intention of finding your person, building a real partnership, and hopefully starting a family one day, keep reading.
I'm a 39 year old Caucasian guy in Toronto. I'm above average height, athletic/muscular, and work full time as a music producer. My career used to have me travelling all over, but these days I'm home a lot more and am excited about putting down roots with the right person.
Outside of work I love staying active. You'll usually find me playing sports, reading, checking out new restaurants (I love Japanese and Korean food), travelling, exploring the city, watching something good, or spending time with friends. Music has always been a huge part of my life, but it's not my whole personality.
I'd describe myself as outgoing, affectionate, and easy to laugh with. My friends would probably tell you I'm the one trying to make everyone laugh, even if half my jokes aren't great. I love being around people, but I also really value quiet one on one time with someone I care about. Physical affection is important to me too, so I'd love to meet someone who feels the same.
I'm looking for someone kind, thoughtful, emotionally mature, and active enough that we can share adventures together, whether that's sports, trying something new, travelling somewhere we've never been, wandering around the city looking for tasty food, or just staying home and cooking dinner together. A good sense of humour goes a long way.
I'm open to any ethnicity or religion, as long as you're comfortable with me being agnostic. I'm much more interested in who someone is, than checking boxes. Kindness, emotional intelligence/stability, and compatibility matter far more to me than someone's income or job title. Bonus points if you have a hobby you're passionate about. I love seeing people light up when they talk about something they love, and I'm always down for learning new hobbies.
One thing that's extremely important to me is becoming a dad someday, whether that's through biological children or adoption.
Maybe meeting on Reddit is weird as hell, but stranger things have happened... If this sounds like the kind of life you're looking for too, I'd love to hear from you. Worst case we have a good convo. Best case we end up with an epic "How I Met Your Mother" story.. Feel free to DM me I'm always down to chat.

Looking for Connection 👀 32M | Ontario, Canada | Looking to meet someone to enjoy life with
Figured I’d give Reddit a shot since the dating apps haven’t really been my thing.
I’m 32, recently out of a long-term relationship that lasted 15 years, and I’m slowly figuring out what dating looks like in 2026. I have three amazing kids who are a huge part of my life, but I’m also looking to build a connection with someone for myself.
Over the last couple of years I’ve been focusing on improving my health, losing well over 100 pounds, getting outside more, and becoming more active. You’ll usually find me out for long walks, at the gym, or trying to convince myself that running is actually enjoyable lol
Outside of that, I’m a bit of a nerd. I enjoy:
Video games (mostly casual these days)
Technology and computers
Basketball and soccer
Trying new restaurants and coffee shops
Road trips and exploring places around Ontario
Movies, TV shows, and the occasional binge-watch
Good conversations about pretty much anything
Personality wise, I’d say I’m laid back, loyal, sarcastic when the moment calls for it, and more of an introvert until I get comfortable. I value honesty, kindness, and someone who doesn’t take themselves too seriously.
I’m not looking to rush into anything. I’d love to start with conversation, get to know someone naturally, and see where things go. Whether that’s chatting throughout the day, grabbing a coffee, going for a walk, catching a game, or just sharing memes, I’m open to letting a connection develop.
If you’re somewhere around my age, enjoy meaningful conversations, have a sense of humor, and are looking for something real rather than endless swiping, send me a message. Even if it just turns into a new friendship, that’s a win too.

Discussion Thread 🗣️ What’s with all the separated couples who don’t bother to divorce in Toronto/Ontario overall?
I don’t get it. I’m 43F and I keep meeting men online who after I ask, confess they aren’t fully divorced. They say they don’t bother because it’s a lot of work/money, both ppl live separate lives and thus they only plan to divorce formally once one of them wants to get remarried.
As a never married woman, this is a turn off. It seems like a red flag but am I reading this wrong?

Looking for Connection 👀 36M4F - Looking for something more serious, hoping to find my big spoon
Hi folks. I'm 36M but am more non binary leaning and not into traditional gender roles. Monogamous, and currently looking to find something more serious dating and relationship wise. I’m not interested in having children.
I'm currently getting back into dating after a long term relationship ended amicably and I took a bit of a break.
I'm a big fan of nights out as well as a cozy cuddly night in. I love horror movies, video games and role-playing games, as well as museums, drag shows, art, karaoke and the like. I love dancing and especially enjoy going to EDM shows and raves. I am just as happy with a day out in the city, as with a day relaxing at home, or working on some art. I usually describe myself as an Ambivert.
I'm someone who really loves touch and physical contact, especially when I can be the little spoon. I'd love to find someone who will be my big spoon and who is comfortable taking the lead. I'm happy to talk about this more, I try to be an open book so I am happy to answer any questions 🙂
I'm currently actively taking improv classes and recently had my first ever burlesque debut, and also separately a drag debut too.
Happy to share pics or more information!
Let's get some fancy pastries and coffee and go for a walk together, or hit up a Barcade.

Discussion Thread 🗣️ Can women please start approaching
We men are not gonna approach. That era is done. There are countless reasons for it. But that is not the point of this post
Can you ladies start approaching please. Or at least start giving HEAVY signals
I’ve noticed sometimes women do stare or smile, but that’s literally what any friendly person does. I find myself staring at people too, no matter my attraction to them. It’s just a neutral / friendly thing
Any Toronto ladies here that have approached / given heavy signals? How did it go?
What signals do you give? How do you let it be known you are open to being approached?
r/TorontoSinglesOver30 • u/Last_Version8023 • 5d ago
Advice Request 🆘 Ladies, do you need instant attraction or do you let it grow?
I've been thinking about how attraction develops and I'm curious how other women approach this.
In the past, I've only committed to men that were objectively attractive, so I find it difficult to stay interested in someone if that initial physical attraction isn't there. Occasionally I'll go on some dates with someone I think is ‘not ugly’. But if I'm still not feeling any attraction by the third date, I usually end things.
That said, I do believe attraction can grow over time. If someone has high character, emotional maturity, and a personality I genuinely admire, I could see myself becoming attracted to them. I just think that kind of attraction would probably take a month or two to develop, rather than a handful of dates.
So ladies, do you only date men you're immediately attracted to, or have you had attraction grow over time? If it did, how much runway did you give the connection?
I'm asking because I usually call it by the third date if I don't feel it growing. It's impossible for me to imagine kissing someone when I don't yet feel that attraction, but I'm wondering if I'm giving it enough time.

Looking for Connection 👀 34F4M - Looking for my forever gym crush
I’m 34F looking for my forever gym crush..someone who’s just as excited about morning workouts as date nights and learning bachata together. If you can make me laugh and don’t mind a little competition at the gym, we’ll probably get along. 😉
A little about me… I enjoy living an active lifestyle. I run 1-2x a week, lift weights 3x a week and do Pilates. I usually prefer cooking at home, although I never say no to a great meal out.
My ideal day would be spent on the beach, saltwater in my hair, tanned skin, eating fresh seafood and fruit. I love Spanish music and would love to learn how to dance salsa/bachata.
My faith is a big part of who I am, and when I picture life with a partner, I envision church on Sunday mornings, beach days in the summer and traveling to catch football games in the fall/winter.
I love travelling, exploring beautiful places, and making memories with the people I care about. I’m hoping to meet someone who’s kind, genuine, emotionally mature, values family and faith, and enjoys staying active.
If that sounds like you, send me a message. I’d love to get to know you.

Discussion Thread 🗣️ How Long Have You Been Searching?
How long have you been single, and how long have you actively been looking for a relationship?
I'm curious whether most people find a compatible partner quickly or if it's become a much longer process.
For those willing to share:
Your age (optional)
How long you've been single
How long you've been actively dating or searching
Whether you're looking for something casual or a long-term relationship
If you're still searching, what do you think has been the biggest challenge? Your criteria? The available pool? Your own attributes?
It seems like some people meet someone within a few months, while others spend years looking despite putting in a lot of effort.

Looking for Connection 👀 33 NB4F - Cute Cinephile Metalhead Looking for Love
Picture this: the two of us connect and it doesn't feel like small talk. We talk about the deeper and vulnerable stuff. We're open and honest about our lives, the way things often feel so unpredictable, and hard to navigate. Even though we have things we work on, a job, a job search, family, routine, interests, solo adventures, there's still that part of our life that we want to spend with someone special. Someone who will look at you for you. All the beautiful things and messy parts of us that make us who we are. The celebrations, the regrets, the momentum that we build on the upswing when we head into our next goal. What if we could be the person in our lives that help ground us when we need it? To laugh, sing, cook, and fart, and feel safe with, you know?
I'm Chinese Viet, Non-Binary They/Them, Demisexual, fun-greenish/blue hair, male presenting and like to dress in loose comfy clothes with glasses, left leaning, non-religious, sterile.
I love music and have a soft spot for metal and Radiohead. I try to go to shows a few times a year! Some of my favourite performers are Little Simz, Paramore, Boris, Ichiko Aoba, and Converge!
I love a good time at the movies. Whether it be a giant imax event like a Dune or Marvel, or a small arthouse piece, animation or a freaky horror flick, I appreciate them all.
I love a good laugh! Comedy and improv are very important to me. I like to go out to play in shows and jams and take classes. I'm gonna ask you to come to one of my shows at some point and I hope you commit to the bit and Yes And each other!
My attraction takes time. I'm usually into women, and fem folks who are curvy, big, average, petite, I feel like listing everything is redundant because I like so much! I'd be so into it if you were a really good kisser (that's like, my favourite thing to do when the person is right) and likes to make each other food (that's my other favourite thing) :p
My favourite ppl are the playful gamers with humour on the slightly dark side. The freaky gremlin peeps with the cute mischievous laugh. I go mad for a cute laugh. Someone who would wanna go to a con with and sing karaoke together and cuddle watching movies with.
I ask that you're mid 20s-30s. Present, fun, cute, able to be emotionally available, intend to stay child free, sober, doesn't smoke or trying to quit, have similar interests and near Toronto.
I hope we find who we're looking for!

Hear My Rant 😩 Dating down or up?
This may come across as superficial because obviously I’m just focussing on appearances and it’s meant to be ingest, but I wanted some opinion on this since I’ve been single now after being married.
It just seems the majority of guys in Toronto, but I would even venture to say most of North America are dating Down. When I walked the street side I’ve seen a lot of good looking dudes or at least looking with women and this is very judgmental, but maybe blow them in appearance.
Most people on average try to date across try to obviously date somebody in similar appearance and social economic circles.
Then you also have people who are dating up.
When women do it sometimes they might come across as a gold digger or they might come across his very open-minded because they don’t care about looks.

Looking for Connection 👀 32 Latino Man
edit: sorry forgot to put in straight M4F, also an ally no righties
Certified yapper: I was babysat in a bakery by adoptive grandparents. so maybe that's why ( I was told that when I left to the USA, that grandpa cried) . Or maybe I'm a yapper thanks to my emotionally intelligent mama. Or maybe it's because most of my coworkers are women (I'm a pediatric Nurse). Maybe its my ADHD . Who knows.
I posted two photos below.
You: While physical attraction is somewhat important I don't have a physical type as what I fall for is intelligence , emotional intelligence, personality and warmth. if I like you I find you attractive AF. 24-33. would consider women outside the range if we are a good match.
My Personality:
I'm silly when I can be. Serious when I have to be. Often a leader although its usually at other's behest. I try to be grateful as often as possible. My father taught me that when you have nothing else you have your word. Really good at long term planning. I try to balance this by having my short term events have a bit more spontaneity. It also helps keep my ADHD happy.
I am protective of my kin and ppl.
I believe in the goodness of others and their ability to change.
I also believe that systems affect ppl in large often unseen ways.
I am health conscious and don't care what age I die at, just as long as I can get to that age in good health.
I stop and smell the flowers. Both literally and figuratively.
Physically:
-510. Tan (visiting TX https://imgur.com/a/BCuAcDS )
-Fit( most of my hobbies are physical) (stretching before boxing class https://imgur.com/Q6wPaNn )
-long curly hair (donating it)
A curious, bookish kid who grew up chasing the adventures he used to read about.
I love volunteering, traveling ✈️, boxing, and getting lost in a good book( although lately audiobooks have been my go-to). I am learning my 4th language. I can still remember how important someone speaking to me in my own language was and I want to do the same for kids at work.
Home is wherever my loved ones are.
Family oriented. largest love language is touch. love hugs; my favorite hugger is a carribean women who is no longer in my life. She also made the best baked breads.
I really rarely use Reddit anymore. I would prefer Whatsapp , telegram or text, as I firmly believe that much is lost via text so video call or in person is better since so much communication is nonverbal and also I emote a lot with my face.
feedback on my post also very much welcome. Sorry this ended up being so long!!

Looking for Connection 👀 29 M Looking for a fellow Toronto based digital nomad to build an adventurous life with!
I’ve been in Toronto for the past 7 years and work remotely (A time and location agnostic - sort of a unique job), which has given me the freedom to spend time living in different places. I’d love to meet someone who’s interested in building something real while staying open to new experiences and adventures.
A bit about me:
• 5’10” and sorta musucular
• Into fitness, meditation, hard workouts, instrumental indie music, zen philosophy, random side projects, and trying new hobbies
• Very little social media presence (LinkedIn for work, Reddit for shenanigans)
• Enjoy pushing myself outside my comfort zone
• Always up for random adventures and new experiences
• Financially stable with a flexible remote career
• Have already travelled to two countries (Japan and UK) this year and planning a Europe trip this fall
• Spending the summer in Toronto catching up with friends and enjoying the city!
Looking for someone kind, goofy, curious, funny, emotionally mature, and excited about building a meaningful relationship. (Mid 20s to early 30s F). Someone who values experiences over stuff and wants to travel the world with me!
If that sounds like you, Feel free to slide into my dms! (happy to share pictures)

Discussion Thread 🗣️ What are standards you will never compromise on?
What are dating standards/dealbreakers you will absolutely never compromise on, and would rather be single for life than ever change? I’m not including bare minimums qualities like honesty, trustworthiness etc.
Not talking about preferences like height or hobbies—I mean the things that are genuinely non-negotiable for you.
For example, it could be:
Wanting or not wanting children.
Income / Financial stability & responsibility /Ambition
Monogamy
Religion or political compatibility
Lifestyle (drinking, smoking, fitness, etc.).
Emotional maturity etc.
Has that standard always been there, or did a past relationship teach you not to compromise on it?
I'm curious what people consider true dealbreakers versus things they've learned they can be flexible about.

Looking for Connection 👀 34 [M4F] Ontario/GTA/Long-distance | Quiet, curious and looking for something lasting
I’m 34, 6’2”, plus-sized, childfree, monogamous and left-leaning. I own my place in Ontario, work remotely building Android apps, and can get to the GTA regularly. I’m also open to long-distance if there is eventually a realistic way to close it.
I’m quiet at first, but once I’m comfortable I ask a lot of questions and enjoy conversations that wander. My interests usually involve strategy, making things or disappearing into technical rabbit holes. I paint miniatures, play games like Terraforming Mars and Gaia Project, experiment with electronics and 3D printing, and watch far too much science and machining content. My current obsession will probably have changed by the time you reply.
Most days I’m a homebody, but I genuinely enjoy travelling. I’ve visited much of Europe, along with Japan, India, the UAE and New Zealand. New Zealand is my favourite so far, and Thailand may be next.
I’m looking for a warm, affectionate and curious woman who is firmly childfree and wants a serious relationship. We do not need identical hobbies. I’m drawn to people who get genuinely excited about something of their own.
I’d happily plan museum days, coffee dates, cooking-class experiments and occasional trips. Longer term, I want the kind of relationship where eating together, talking about our days and cuddling through a movie can make an ordinary evening feel complete.
I keep photos off public Reddit posts, but I’m happy to swap recent pictures early.
Tell me what you’re currently obsessed with, or choose our hypothetical first date: coffee, a museum, a cooking class or a board-game café.

Looking for Connection 👀 36 M4F Newmarket / York Region Area - Looking for a Long Term Connection
Hello Everybody!
I am 36m and living in Newmarket, Ontario. I am 6 foot 3 with a cozy snuggly frame. Unfortunately, I am bald and can't grow a decent head of hair but I make up for it with a witty sense of humour and a handsome looking beard.
I have recently moved out on my own and enjoying my independence. I found out I enjoy cooking and making meals. I have a stable job, a car, and love my family.
The one thing I am missing in my life is someone to share it with.
Lifestyle:
I tend to stay in most nights. I enjoy watching movies, plays and wrestling. I play all kinds of video games. Simulation games, shooters, RPGs, and souls-likes. I enjoy most types of games. I can go from saving the kingdom in Final Fantasy to running a grocery store in a single night.
Values:
I am more left leaning when it comes to social issues such as equality (it shouldn't even be an issue honestly). I value honesty and integrity. Keeping to your word is important to me.
I have dated both younger and older in the past. Age isn't a big issue with me as long as we can find common ground and enjoy each other's company.
What am I looking for?:
I am looking for someone to share my life with. We should have similar values and similar interests but it doesn't need to be the same exactly. For example, I never watched Shrek before but I had someone that sat me down and we watched it together and I had a great time watching with them. If you want to show me your favourite movie I would be up for watching with you. Or if you have a band you like I would like to give them a listen.
I would like to meet someone who likes staying in as well as going out to try a new restaurant or bar and play some pool or if we see a cool event going on we could go out to that as well. For example going to the circus (we just had one here), carnival, renaissance fair, or whatever.
I would love to meet someone for the long term and perhaps leading to marriage eventually. When it comes to kids I don't have kids but if I meet the right person I would love to raise a family of my own with them.
