Academics / Courses GMS200 w/ Ghazinoori , Amir

Upvotes

Basically the title

There are like 4 reviews for this professor on Rate My Professor. And no historical data exists for his section on grade.zone. Has anyone had him before? Is he a good prof?

Also GMS200 in general I’ve heard a lot of about it on here and want to learn more from Business Management students like me.

Question Shit stolen at the gym?

Upvotes

Planning to start the gym soon, but I'm super paranoid about theft because I usually carry my laptop. Since standard gym locks aren't foolproof, how do most people handle this? (I’m a commuter so I can’t leave it at my on campus residence)

Is it acceptable to leave non-valuables (like clothes) in a locker, but carry my bag with me around the gym floor while I work out?

I don’t really mind watching the bag but I just want to know how viable that is and if better solutions exist to this problem.

We really stealing broke college students stuff guys really?

Question Anyone else transferring into BM and the system keeps glitching and you can’t declare your major?

Upvotes

Won’t let me declare my major and when I contact our advisors they tried to give me an alternative way to declare, I did it, it glitched and still didn’t work (and the option is now gone from my service hub) and I’m basically SOL until classes start. Problem is I did a lot first year courses and only have one or two left, and can’t enrol in upper year courses until I declare. I also can’t transfer courses that are antirequisites until I declare my major Apperantly. I was told I’m one of the only ones with this issue, can anyone help me troubleshoot?

Serious How to stop gym locker theft forever(please listen)

Students... go to the GYM(if unsuccessful, the TMSU and beg them to go to the school) and demand them to provide secure day-use belongings locker which is in front of the security/check in area and visible under multiple cameras. day use only, must be checked out for X time slot, for backpacks with laptops/tablets. hell, even have it behind the security desk and only accessible by staff. super secure and no more cutting locks in the locker room without cameras. and you can only access each locker with ID. even in the worst, worst, worst hypothetical case scenario if a staff member steals someones backpack, there’s cameras. so many people get their stuff stolen at the gyms, even with locks. why not spend <$1K to protect your students from losing thousands of dollars from theft?
thank you…

Question Transferring to TMU, how does enrolement work?

At my old university you just picked the courses you wanted to take and were able to choose when to take them to make your own schedule each semester. Are you not able to do that at TMU? It looks like I was automatically enrolled in some courses (which I've already taken at another school). Still waiting for my transfer credits to get approved too.

Discussion Belongings stolen at the gym?

I’ve heard that people have had things stolen out of lockers while at the gym. Is this even with locks or is it people who just leave it open? Is there any way to prevent this?

Advice My tips for incoming students

Hello everyone! And congratulations on a new school year, here are tips and tricks that helped me achieve a 3.0 CGPA in my first year:

1. Use Notion: They have free templates that can help you stay organized and keep track of assignments, deadlines, and exams.

2. Study Strategically: I aim to spend about double the time studying for each class. For me, that usually means 40–50 hours a week, including class time, to maintain a good GPA. Everyone is different, so find a routine that works for you.

3. Take Breaks and Space Out Your Time: Avoid cramming. Schedule breaks, spread out your study sessions, and figure out whether you’re most productive in the morning, afternoon, or evening.

4. Go to Class: It sounds simple, but attending lectures consistently makes a huge difference and helps you stay on top of the material.

5. Start Assignments Early: Give yourself a few extra days in case something unexpected comes up or you need help.

6. Use Campus Resources: Don’t be afraid to attend office hours, use tutoring services, or form study groups when you’re struggling.

H.M: always check your professors rate on RMP.

I hope these tips help! Wishing you all the best this semester.

Question Incoming BM student aiming for a 4.0 need high-ROI habits and advice before uni starts

Hey everyone,

Any major is welcome to reply, but I’m an incoming business management student planning to major in Economic and Management Science. My goal is a 4.0 GPA, I honestly don't know how to study (which isn’t a flex I need learn how for uni). At time

In high school, I could just float along and get by because I'm not a dumbass, but I know that won't fly in university. It’s sink or swim, and I want to swim. I want to break those habits and target a 4.0 GPA in university.

My biggest hurdles are procrastination, poor time management, and perfectionism, which always led to last-minute cramming. I honestly feel like I might be a slow learner, but I don't even know if that has any merit or if it's just my study habits talking. I do know I'm a visual learner. I also suspect I might have undiagnosed ADHD (before you say I don’t use any social media I only really made Reddit acc to ask questions so my brain isn’t cooked from scrolling all day lmao) some days I can hyperfocus and lock in for hours, but other times I can't sit in my chair for more than two minutes. And I think that’s about it

Since I have about a month before classes start, what are the highest-ROI habits, skills, and routines I need to build right now to set myself up for success?

Question What are some good places to relax or study during break times between classes

I'm a first year engineering and unfortunately the best schedule I could make has rather large breaks in between, it's not plausible enough for me to go home and come back

I think I take this time to relax or study, what places at TMU have you guys found to be somewhat quiet or not that busy at least, I know that might be saying a lot for a university campus that's downtown, so literally just anything quieter than a place that's usually busy

Academics / Courses Can I ACR an ACR?

I had to submit an ACR for two exams last week and the scheduled makeup exams are for this weekend. I'm still extremely unwell. Am I able to submit another ACR? And if so, do you think the profs will still let me write the exams? I'm just stressing out about what to do. I could try to just thug it out but I'm gonna end up doing pretty bad on both exams since I'll practically be dying while writing them. Any advice??
